I bet The slightly thinner blade of the primitive is going to give it a slight, "Edge," in some scenarios.

Nice! No. I like corny jokes... But in seriousness...All MSK-1s are sharpened between 19 - 20 degrees on each side. So regardless of it being a hair under 1/4" it will still perform to spec. Keep the jokes coming...
Would you ever consider producing a model that's the same overall design, just 2 or 3 inches longer? The MSK1 is one of the coolest survival knives ever, maybe the coolest. I personally prefer the carbon steels. I think you made a great choice man. Opening up the MSK1 to many people that previously wouldn't be able to purchase one. Always happy when I see you post.

i've been a big fan of your channel for years now...definitely of the MSK-1 design, especially the elite(stainless) ones.
I think the MSK-1 is ALMOST an all-in-one knife for me. Almost...because i still end up carrying my Becker BK9 for batonning purposes.
You mentioned before that MSK-1 was designed to work like an axe but i find it hard to baton with only 4" of blade with bigger types of wood.
Would you consider having a version that has a 7" or 9" blade?
That would definitely an ALL-AROUND knife for me.

$150 is still expensive for a knife, but it is cool.
I wish they would make it in a stainless steel. D2 knives rust like crazy, that's why I don't have the original. 1075 rusts even faster. Make it in N690 440C VG10, anything cheap and SS would be great.
Check out the NEW MSK-1 Elite and Elite Warrior. They are made of 154CM stainless. We replaced the D2 version. The MSK-1 Elite has replaced it. Hope this helps.

Actually, it's not. I have experience with 154cm. Pragmatically speaking, it's one of the weaker stainless steels out there, as far as rust-resistance goes. Yeah, a black coating means it's more stealthy. Won't reflect sunlight. Also helps to make a 154cm blade more rust-resistant. And I'm sorry, but 154cm could use the help.
Personally, I like the Primitive. Won't lie, I'd prefer 1095 instead. Still, the price seems reasonable. Plus, heck of a lot easier to resharpen than 154cm.
I loved the original ad, it was awesome, and so is this knife!
We worked really hard for about 3 years to find a way to make the Primitive and offer it at 1/2 the price of the original MSK-1. Glad you like it!

I don't like the idea of removing the inside of the tang to make room for "other stuff", I think the best "stuff" for that area is solid steel.
Wow, the "hole" to use in a bow drill situation is a really good ideia, i've never seen It before.

When I first saw this knife I was worried it would be expensive but when I saw the msk1 primitive with a leather sheath for only $150 + tax I think, anyways cant wait to order one of them

Yeah, it looks like an excellent knife, but I don't like the way it is only retained in the sheath by the tension of the leather, I would constantly worry about it being lost traveling through heavy brush. I would say it needs at least a Velcro strap around the handle, or better yet, a snap closure.

Yes. You can upgrade the sheath. But it is the “primitive” so no Velcro on this sheath. Check out the other sheath options on the website. Good comment

look for WCSK and you`ll see the true difference, this one has a good publicity, that`s all :)))..there are also some comparison videos between the two of them

How many people have cut themselves using this knife for friction fire? It should at least be in a case when using it this way. I’ve seen plenty of spindles snap using a fire-bow.

Go with a Habilis Bush Tool for about the same price with much better design and much better 1095 steel. This knife design was a mall ninja joke as a hard wear survival knife in D2 for $300😖, and now its keeping that trend going with $75 dollar 1075 machete steel for $150😫🤢🤮🤯.

It is a nice knife but I’m not a fan of the massive “Ultimate Survival Tips” etching on the knife. If it was just clean or had only the compass logo I think it would look a lot better. Other than that overall nice knife.

David does anyone stock these in the UK or EU? I tried to get Tops SXB direct from the USA as it was lower price than getting in the EU but it was stopped by USA customs as a restricted item. I then had to mess about getting a refund then ordered it from a EU country which got delivered to me in the UK. I am worried that if I was to order one from your website it may get stopped as people in the UK are paranoid about knife ownership even though they are perfectly legal to own.

The original MSK-1 is replaced with the MSK-1 Elite. Which is now made of 154CM stainless and has several other upgrades

I really do like this knife but I really really dont have $500 for a knife setup that i will probably want to replace in 2 years because something better comes out.
The team worked hard to get this version under $150. ANd you can still upgrade as you go since all the MSK-1 kit components fit all 3 of the new versions. Hope this helps.

You could have run the same ad and said made by Japan's finest katana ninjas 🤣🤣 gotta love cheap marketing eh. It is a wicked looking knife, ill give you that. Survival kit is pretty useless given how small it is im sure. I can get this made here with a good steel I can actually sharpen on the go and for a lot less. Easy knife to replicate. Again... great design there I love it!!
