If you align your sketch lines to your reference lines you will find your families working more often when they get more complicated instead of the surface or edge of your extrusions. Some of us have strong opinions on how to build these families but there is multiple ways to make Revit do what we want. I really really appreciate that fact you push for consistency in what view you draw in. Overall I look forward to seeing more videos As for the guy that has a question about labels you will find that in object styles. #AndrewStockton
If you don't see the label option at the top when you click the dimension. Then right click the dimension, select label, then select add parameter in the drop down.
so when I go to add a dimension, it will allow me to do so and I tried following your steps, but when I went to go add my second dimension on the horizontal plane it will not let me select the dimension key.. Is there a reason why?
I am building a housing estate, so I have a lot of repetition of the same house. Is it possible to build a house as a family and then insert it throughout the object? If it is how do I do it? Thanks
Hi I like the video! I have a question and maybe you could answer it, once you create a label for a family and you misspell the label or say you have extra label from a design change or started the family from a template that already had extra labels that you don't want to show, can you get rid of these extra labels and how? I am working on a Revit architecture 2013 student version.
Perfect tutor and tutorial; my question is that simple: How to use this family in a project as a parameter for the length and width of a room for the room schedule, If someone does know?
I agree with bubbusby. Why also wasn't it mentioned why equal dimensions were made to the center reference planes? The point of these video's is to explain the process and why. Anyone can do step by step. Explain why.
все нормально и толково разжовано но афтор так и не договорил что делать если элемент накланен к площадке опирания тоесть в сечении выглядит не как квадрат а как треугольник
Please remain consist with your definitions. You first described depth as the third dimension and then you described it as height. I don't care what you call it as long as you are consist and it will help students understand your explanation better. Thank you.
This is leaving out so many things. Do NOT follow this video. You should constrain your sketch lines to the reference planes, not the solid itself. You should also name all your key reference planes and set their "is reference". I could go on, but it's not worth it.
showing how you get to your starting point would be nice.
Yeah guys, I don't know about boring, but he was descriptive and I understood everything. I was able to finish a basin as my first family in Revit.

thanks, perfect and very helpful
Great video to help us understand the idea. Just long enough. 😀
Be grateful, I liked this video, it's very clear. Why do people criticize so readily, if you can do better then you do a video series.
Criticism is a good thing, not something to be afraid of
Pretty simple and easy concept to grasp. Thanks. I learned something new.
Great condensed video!

Thanks a lot. This helped !

This guy Flexing. 🤴🏻
My circle family didn't flex in ref level view. Should it? It does flex in height
Can we do without reference plane?
👏👏👏

+Paul Conlon i don't see how that will help.... why don't you create it as a project and then link through to the project you want it in?

Can you please show me how to create a basic kitchen cabinet from the beginning?? I never create a cabinet before. Thanks
Can you show me how you got to that window?
Why is the volume so low? had to set it to the max to understand
Such a helpful video :)
It is kinda slow and the audio really low but it is very useful.

had my sound at 20% and could hear him fine, maybe you should invest in better headphones instead of a revit license.
