Canter's Deli is a Jewish-style delicatessen, that opened in 1931 in Boyle Heights, and later moved to the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, California, near the border of West Hollywood, where it is now. It has been frequented by many notable movie stars and celebrities.
The restaurant has continued to serve traditional food items, including lox and bagels, corned beef, matzoh ball soup, and challah bread. However, it is not certified kosher, being open on Saturdays and offering many non-kosher menu items (e.g., ham sandwiches). Canter's has remained open 24 hours most days, except on the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

This was a lot of fun. Fairfax Ave. is gentrifying. I miss it when Fairfax was a vibrant Jewish neighborhood. While retaining some of its Jewish idenity it's now becoming a cool international destination for streetwear and sneakers. I guess nothing stays the same. In the 60's and beyond, Canter's was a hot hang out for rock and roll artists. Since it's open 24 hours, it is still visited by an occasional celebrity with a midnight craving for pastrami. Please keep them coming!

We enjoyed going to lunch/breakfast at Canter's Deli with you and your family, Jean. Loved seeing the neighborhood it's in with all the murals, street art and graffiti. Some classy some not. That's the real world! Canter's has interesting glass in the sky lights. The food looked delicious and they really take care of you with the pickles which I love! The sandwiches and onion rings looked wonderful. The high school was having a rummage sale market we couldn't pass up though. Never know what we would find that we didn't know we needed! Thanks so much for bringing us along.
Haha! Nothing escapes your attention, Dave!😂 We did go to Canters twice. The first time, we were seated on the other side. The second time, we came early to be able to film that roof! Very nice street views 🤩👍2, like the restaurant, not that mang people, so easy to keep social distance. Ceiling and wall decorations r my favorite 😍. Foods r pretty much like oue local restaurants Wimpy's😋.

Lively streets, looks like another popular LA spot you went to. I already felt hungry when I read Dave’s Hot Chicken lol made me even hungrier to see the food you had when you dined in at Canter’s Deli.
