I seen a lot of Leaf games in my 55 years this come back ranks up there with the one of the greatest one I seen the only other one I can remember is the comeback win in 93 in overtime in Detroit in game 5. I won't lie I was ready to turn it off thinking ok we come home with a spilt.
Man I was so happy. But like when the score was for one I got so pissed off I went out for a cigarette I'm like Toronto is done I come back in the game is tied and then they take it in overtime. It just sucks that Florida destroyed us

nylander -> marner -> matthews is insane. the crowd was louder when the leafs scored. good to see rielly finally doing well. nylander had another multi-point game, goaltending was great again and knies had a game saving goal on the goal line. he needs to stay in the lineup.
Man Nylander is one of the best offensive wingers ive watched in play the game, his decision making (when it comes to offense) is unreal as an example he got a break away pass in the last 25 seconds of the 3rd. Instead of trying to carry it into the O zone and make a play he chipped it to Vas and forced a face off in the Tampa zone. That was such an underrated play by him. However if the guy would block shots and just put some effort into the defense he would legit be a 9 million+ dollar a year player.

I say Samsonov only let in one bad goal (Being the one where he was screened. Even though he was screened, it wasn't great positioning). The first goal from the lightning, yes Samsonov overplayed, but it was near unstoppable. The second goal, debatable but I think that was just a great shot. The one where it deflected off of Stamkos's foot, that one might actually be unstoppable
@@aksis2133 and that's absolutely false. he may fail the grit/60 and eye test for you, but the numbers say he's not a liability. he has shown his forechecking skills and improved defensively over the last few years. the numbers show he doesn't negatively contribute to the team's defence. just because he doesn't block shots, doesn't mean he's a bad defensive player. if you're blocking shots, that means you're hemmed in the d-zone and don't have the puck to carry it out, meaning you're negatively contributing to your team's defence lol. he's not usually hemmed in the leafs end because he's carrying the puck out and creating offensive chances. the leafs don't spend too much time defending with him on the ice. guys who always block shots can't make a play. nylander is constantly zooming in the neutral and offensive zone so the puck isn't really in the leafs end because he's one of their best puck carriers.

As a Boston fan I have to say that was a good comeback win for the TMLs. Good game. They need to close this out on Thursday. Fire and desire ride or die mentality. My housemate was watching downstairs on cable tv, I had about a 15-20 second delay. I heard cheers after the the 2-1 Leafs goal, silence after that. 3-1 and subsequently 4-1, Tampa. I kept the game running with no sound on my computer while I cruised TH-cam on my phone and began watching the VGK/Peg game. I started paying attention at the perfect moment. Mathews scored. 4-2 Alright. we aren't done just yet Scores again. 4-3. Now the sound is fully on. I'm following every play intensely. Rielly scores. There is still no way. It's Toronto, after all. OT, guaranteed we blow it. OT starts. Sweat is starting to smell bad, the stress is real. Kerfoot grabs a sweet tip!! i can start breathing again. Fun fact, I used to landscape Greg Kerfoots property in Whistler, the one on Alpha lake with the personal hockey rink. Looks like the private ice paid off.
The only way to exorcise all the Leaf demons was to : 1) Beat Tampa both games at their home in overtime 2) Have Rielly be a part of both 3) Have Matthews be a part of both 4) Have the Bolts blow the 4-1 lead in the 3rd 5) Make sure Perry was on the team that Tavares got the hat trick against 6) Somehow involve a guy with a yellow sweater to foreshadow that Boston is next.
What I see this time out is a Leaf team that has discovered its fraternal sense of brotherhood. These guys realize that the team is all...It's been a long time since I've been so excited about this team, they are going to win this series, God bless our lads
