  • This is another find from the Lindale Mill. It is a 3 blade tube-axial fan with a cast aluminum impeller and all stainless trim. I have made a temporary setup to test-run it. This fan is mad powerful!
Anybody know what manufacturer it is from?
EDIT: I am building a project with this fan: • A Fan Called Overkill ...

That fan looks like fans used in fire safety systems. Usually in high rises I work in, the stair cases have vent ducts in case smoke is ever inside the stair case, the fire system turns on and the entire building becomes negative pressure and smoke is taken out of the building. The elevators no longer function, they open at a set floor and stay open and everyone must evaluate through the staircase, that area must be smoke free.

There were fans like this in VOA’s old CEMCO transmitters in Greenville,NC. Each transmitter had two of these blowers-15hp each. Cooled the heat exchangers for the tubes,RF coils and vacuum variable caps. Was scary starting the fans. The transmitters that used those are scrapped now. The newer transmitters use smaller fans for cooling-more efficient. The older transmitters dated to 1948-250/500kw short wave.

I think those type of fans are used in computer severs. The 1U severs, 1 rack unit is 1.75" high. The severs are 19" wide, 2 -3' deep but only 1.75" high. So the height and width of the fan is quite small, but they are somewhat long, along the direction of the air flow, 2 to 3 inches long. The tiny fans move a lot of air, but they make a lot of noise!

This one has way to small a motor should be 5-7 hp 3 phase induction motor. Believe me it moves a lot more air than that with the right motor. I couldn’t tell you who made it.

The blades kinda resemble those of an American Coolair fan I installed in a greenhouse, the fan I installed is damn near silent, you can hardly hear it running, best part? I got two! for free! I happen to have connections, they came from a now demolished school, the one I installed has an older Marathon motor, by older I mean 90s most likely, the other has a freshly rebuilt Century motor that was only run for 6 months, they are identical in every way besides the motor, tested both and I'm keeping the Century motor nice and unused until I can install it as an attic fan, the Marathon motor fan is already used so running in a greenhouse for 5 years isn't so much of a big deal, I say 5 years because when my grandma moves elsewhere in 5 years I'm taking that fan down and either putting the dead Dayton back up or I might keep that as well since all it needs is a motor rebuild, the greenhouse is probably gonna be torn down by the next owners

When trying to make a condition assessment of something like this, it's a good idea to do whatever is going to get it working, temporarily; to determine if there are other problems not detectable without some run-time. A "real expert" would be the man who doesn't even try to get it working and gives up without any effort.
Good luck getting bearings for 5€. It's very hard to know the cost without knowing the size and spec on the bearing, as well. If I remember the bearings weren't that expensive; probably around $25USD each.
Here's a video where it is running with new bearings and new non-bent shaft as well. th-cam.com/video/_MPigZ_mpYI/w-d-xo.html
