Quick correction, Norway had 5 Oslo class frigates, lost 1 in 94. And pretty funny seeing all those penguins spoofed by chaff as they are IR.seeking missiles ;)
Really shows how treacherous dealing with the Norwegian Navy could be for the Soviet Baltic fleet. However, the Soviets could likely displace these units by occupying Norway by land. Anyway, people say they can't see anything in night scenarios, personally I don't see the problem. They're very interesting to me.
@MekStark1980 🤣 This was caused by x3000 time compression while surfacing. I have not been able to recreate the bug. I have tried with all the other sub classes, too.
In 1981 Norwegian built missile boats of the Swedish navy armed with Penguin missiles was rushing south at full speed from the Muskö naval base to the naval base in Karlskrona where a Soviet whiskey submarine had just grounded in the naval base exclusion zone on Swedish waters and and a Soviet surface group was steaming for the Swedish coast to break out the submarine. The boats would not be there in time to prevent the soviets from violating the border (which would lead to armed combat) but they might be in time to extract revenge. The captains of the ships allegedly had the safety pins of their penguin missiles in their pockets when they left Muskö. What happened: The Russians was scared off by a Swedish coastal battery tricking them it would fire if they passed the border by switching it's fire control radar into the agile frequency war mode. The battery could not fire on moving ships as the fire control system was dismantled as part of a modernization and the radar was a mobile one which had arrived 30 minutes earlier, they needed hours to connect the battery's guns to it hours they did not have. The Russians could not have freed the sub as it had grounded in the middle of a Swedish mine field which control bunger was now manned.
Pretty great use of the map tools, first creator covering Sea Power I've seen that makes full use of them. Pretty interesting watch altough I recommend not using the radar mast on the subs as much, a few sweeps every so often makes it much harder to triangulate on :)
Okay Question, Tromso is within range of Soviet Fixed wing. The Mig 23 (with DT) should be able to provide some CAP over the Fleet. Not to mention MPA and Strike easily providing some support. Obviously some of these assets are not in game yet, just something to consider. I really do hope that the devs add the F-104, F-16 as well as give the F-5 FF, Norwegian specs. Also curious as to why Norway didn't have P-3 support as Andoya is within spiting distance. Lastly did you know that Norway actually bought MBDA Mistral MANPADS specifically to give the FACM force some air defence capability. Wouldn't be hard to see Norway getting hold of some Stingers, or even Redeye from US Pre-positioning stocks...
You make a lot of excellent points, and I'm looking forward to the future of this game as more assets are added! This was a work in progress scenario. There was actually an Orel Aircraft carrier and its escort making their way to the zone. For whatever reason, they didn't launch aircraft, and then I couldn't find them in a reasonable amount of time.

@@larsgulbrandsen9441 oh really?! I wasn't aware of the lost ship! Thanks for the correction!
Edit: Oh damn it was Oslo itself!! Damn shame
Please be careful with "night" operations in Sea Power, after the TH-cam compression is done you can't see Sh*t.
They really need a night vision mode or just a simulate night but show day setting.
@@Di3Leberwurst At least a night mode for the tactical map and an ambient light boost like in KSP
you can boost it in post, before uploading and TH-cam compression.

Clearly it's the USS Los Angeles, the airship, just upgraded for the 1980s.
The intro fucking sent me lmao

Did I really say Baltic Fleet? I meant Artic fleet
From online research the AGM-119 Penguin is IR guided. So in other words I don't think it should be going for chaff...
Those decoys launchers fire chaff and flares tho
chaff is superheated aluminium powder so its really hot. there is a video of a bnritish frigate demonstrating it on an ir camera.
ohh man, we haven't yet rolled out Early Access and already the modding madness begins /s

@@CmdrTyrael yeah we will need to cap time compression as at such speeds it messes up physics

Thanks for the tips! Strait of Hormuz (HARD) is next. That is a mission where course planning and recon was of utmost importance

Is this a mod? not seen any youtube vids with these units
@av812bb it's one of the scenarios included. Everyone else aims for the big name ships. I'm exploring the little boats too.

Well The Hole in the Water is sailing under a 🇮🇸 Icelandic flag. Just saying.
Are there any Dutch units to play around with?
Currently, only the type 205 coastal sub for Denmark. I am sure that will change very quickly with mod support
Do they have the ssn 722 key west?
the LA class only goes up to SSN-718 Honolulu.
