In my class we had these checkered tiles and when state testing came my teacher was so bored she stepped on all the white tiles and after that she grabbed these little black and white paper clips and started playing chess, ON THE FLOOR. I couldn’t stop laughing when she did this.

When I was in middle school (in the 90s) I had a teacher bring in a stack of little paperback books. She would read several chapters, then get up and walk around. Sit back at her desk and read more. On and on for 4 days. And you can tell I had undiagnosed ADHD because I noticed how often she was getting up, how fast she got through the books, etc. I even sketched ideas for new covers for them knowing nothing more than the title. Then I’d daydream about being able to just read a stack of books instead of day after day of testing.
I still think it's crazy when I go to comment something and someone has already commented the exact same thing, verbatim. But she really do tho look like that 😂

Basically everyone in the school hates standardized tests and doesn't agree with them. I teach in Ontario and our students get their first standardized test in grade 3, all that stress for those 8 and 9 year olds just so the province can say "look at how smart our students are"
A teacher of mine was so funny when giving out the test and reading the rules, he was acting so sarcastically annoyed and it made everyone feel less stressed. I remember last year I was in my English class during state testing. It was lunchtime and my teacher mentioned that she always counts the tiles on the ceiling every single year lmao
I remember being a foreign exchange student in America for 2 years and they didn’t make me take the test so I ended up helping the teacher stay entertained while staying quiet. We just passed notes to each other whenever she walked by and it was fun.
State tests r so fun for me. Once my teacher you know was walking around normally and this student has to use the pOtTy. She asked if she could go while about to throw up. The teacher realized and literally ran back into the room, grabbed the trash, and ran back down the hallway. Once that situation was handled the teacher came back and we all stared at her for a hot 5 seconds until all of us started bursting out laughing(not at the student). We continued the test and after that incident we couldn’t stop laughing. This dude actually made the teacher cry from laughing so much. Needless to say after that one day state tests will always be funny for me and my friends. (I did not need to type all this but oh well).

I was a substitute for six years and somehow was always made to do restroom duty every year for standardized testing and had to just sit outside the bathroom and watch the kids and make sure they didn’t talk and only one went into the bathroom at once 🙄🙄 wasn’t even allowed a book , it was torture

I was a Substitute Teacher for a bit and I just sat whenever I didn't need to write on the board. Principal came in at one point and tried to scold me after I was off duty about setting an example and I just laughed in her face that I was not paid enough to be on my feet the entire time lmao

Damn, our test was a lot longer than that, plus written sections. It took several hours over two days between the math and science part and then the history and english/grammar parts.

I was terrible when it came to state testing in high-school. In primary and middle school they made it sound like if you didn't do well on state tests, that you'd fail your grade. By 9th grade I found out that the testing doesn't, infant, impact your grade. So for that years test I tried but I didn't stress out about it like I used to. But then I eventually realized that men failing didn't do anything to mentor the school, we were a small school with high graduation rates, like 1 kid out of every other grade might not graduate, and usually because they decided to play with drugs. My school went hard in the "no kid left behind" law since the more kids who graduate, the more funding you get. So even if you tried to fail class, the chances of actually doing so were very low and teachers that flunked kids were older and after that law passed, those teachers oddly "retired" once it was realized they were gonna stick to their guns and give kids the grade they deserve and not the one that makes the school look good. Well come my 10th grade year I stopped trying on state tests. I'd get my packet, look at how many questions were on there then make zig zag designs on the answer sheet and use scrap paper to work on my drawing skills. Sometimes I'd even take a nap after. In English we had to write an essay. I can't remember the prompt, something about write an essay about a time you felt encouraged to succeed or some bs. I just wrote "I'm not going to do as the prompt requests. These tests are stupid and a waste of time. They don't test on our knowledge but instead our ability to regurgitate information we've had crammed down our throats for the past two weeks, only to be forgotten the moment we walk out the door. The only thing this test succeeds in is stressing kids out and making schools think their great because they ranked a certain way. Its all pointless and not worth my stress. Figure out better ways to see if schools are doing their job instead of the anxiety ridden circus that only results on "the budget going up" meaning the football team and dance team/cheerleaders get new uniforms and equipment, whilenart departments and classes of actual substance get defended and even cut all together. Thanks but no thanks. I'm good." And at the bottom I added a rough sketch of that comic that says "to be fair, we need everyone to climb that tree" with a picture of a penguin, elephant, monkey, fish, etc. I had teachers that later asked why I was always the first to finish the tests but not also top of my class. I explained what I did and most the teachers either understood and didn't mind, or even got a chuckle out of them. I did have 1 teacher that got mad. She told me that my "hijinks" was going to hurt everyone else. I told her there were maybe 3 people in the whole school that I cared about and none of them tested high nor cared about the school so what happens to this place doesn't bother me. Then she tried to tell me that I was going to be the sole cause of the budget being cut. To which I chuckled and said "oh no, now your dance team can't get a 4th set of uniforms to wear this year, whatever will I, a student whose not on any sports, do" she got angry then said "I wonder what your parents will have to say about this?" Apparentky after the results came in and it was seen that I did fail all the tests, but our state ranking was higher than the year before, they still decided that since they couldn't "make an example of me" outright to the student body, then they'd bring my parents onto the matter, think that would change my mind to not try on the tests. Well when the principal, counselor, and 1 angry teacher called my parents, apparently the discussion didn't go as planned. They complained about my "antics" and how it could impact the schools ranking, even though it didn't. Well my dad (who was known to punish me and my siblings if we got anything lower than a B-) got very angry. At the school for calling him. He asked them "if she bombs these tests, will she fail school?" Well no... "will it impact her ability to get into college?" Well the results are anonymous, so no... "Will her treating testing week as a long in school vacation impact her or her future prospects in any way?" Not really "Then why are you calling me?" Well it's the principal- "I'm gonna stop you right there. I don't care about the 'principal' of it. I don't care about your manufactured morality on the subject. I don't care about the asinine leaps in logic you've decided to make to justify you're belief. You and I both know from our own experiences taking state testing that the results of said tests will do NOTHING to a child but cause, frankly, unnecessary anxiety. What this all boils down to is you're passed off that you couldn't sit on your ass and milk extra money from my daughters stress, so now are trying to, poorly, manipulate me into threatening her to do better so your school can get a better rank, and thus more funding. While I do believe that schools need better funding, I don't believe YOUR school needs it since we all know that the funding you get is applied either towards the sport teams, or 'upgrades' to the school that aren't necessary. When you guys decide to finally listen to the parents and put a proper percent of the budget towards either classes that kids HAVE to take, or to necessary upgrades to the schools, like actually working heating and AC units, or water pipes that wont cause lead poisoning, THEN I'll tell my daughter to do better on the tests. Your schools inability to upgrade the football stadium for the 3rd time in 5 years is not my daughter's problem. Do better and so will she. Otherwise, stop wasting my time. If she's not getting detention or getting C or lower in class, then I don't want to see your number on my phone again." The next year they tried to bribe us with a pizza party if the school went up in ranking and gave a speech about how sOmE of us may see it as a waste of time, but the testing was really important for us students and WE ALL had to try harder to support our classmates. I know that speech was directed towards me because while it was a thirty minute speech, THAT part in particular, the principal spent talking to everyone, but glaring daggers at me. My friends even noticed his death stare and later asked why he seemed to not be happy with me and I told them exactly what happened the year before. They got a kick out of it and decided to not try in the tests either. That year I didn't even fill out the test slips, just handed them back empty. The guidance counselor tried to pull strings and have me retake the tests, like say I wasn't feeling good so was in the nurses office or something. I told her to do what she felt she needed to do so long as much attendance wasn't impacted. Well that worked like once cuz come test retake day, I got my mom on on my shenanigans and she called me out of school that day for "personal reasons" the counselor tried to call my mom to get her to bring me in just long enough to do my retake and my mom got mad told her "my husband already talked to you guys last year. Be happy you're talking to me and not him right now. My daughter was at school on test day. She have back a test paper. End of discussion. She doesn't have to redo a test just because your not happy with her results. And last I checked, what you're trying to do could have HUGE consequences for the school. Her results might slightly impact the ranking, your actions could cause legal repercussions. So yea. She's sraying home and you're leaving her alone about this. ANY further discussion about state tests and my daughter will result in not only my husband being involved again, but this going past you and even the local school board, and instead will go all the way to the state board and whoever oversees the tests and and consequences for, oh what's the word... cheating? Fraudulent test results? Need I go on?" Yea. After that the school would hype up getting good scores on the tests, but any student that flunked the test, especially on purpose, was just ignored by the principal. Which wasn't a real change from the norm cuz he only paid attention to those who were very big trouble makers, or kids of rich family's whose parents donated to the school alot. So if you were a kid who just went to school and minded you business and wasn't middle-upper class, then you were usually ignored anyway lol
I had a teacher bring a book into the class when we had a state test and whenever she walked around she would pretend to read and at the end she said “I did not even pick the book I wanted to this morning so we all suffered” I loved that teacher

One time we had our big final exam when the exam teacher fell asleep we thought he was faking it but he snored and even kept falling in his chair. Our class is actually a very good students because nobody takes that as an opportunity to cheat we just whisper in confusion.😂 After the exam ended we found out he really did fall asleep.
@@ginnybean838 when i was in school doing state tests, they always said that t hey could only help us understand the question being asked and could not help us solve questions in any way, if asked why they said that (as it was kind of a 'duh, i have to do my own test' situation), they'd give the explanation that there were cases where teachers have helped their students cheat on state testing before.
Most teachers let you read. The reason why you can’t do anything else is because we don’t want you to be eager to be able to do something because it may cause you to rush through your test. We realize that most students wouldn’t do that, but some students definitely would and it would make it look like they knew less than they really did because they didn’t apply themselves.

I always admired my teachers growing up and now i understand THEIR pain during testing. I always wondered why they hated it as much as we did.

State tests r so fun for me. Once my teacher you know was walking around normally and this student has to use the pOtTy. She asked if she could go while about to throw up. The teacher realized and literally ran back into the room, grabbed the trash, and ran back down the hallway. Once that situation was handled the teacher came back and we all stared at her for a hot 5 seconds until all of us started bursting out laughing(not at the student). We continued the test and after that incident we couldn’t stop laughing. This dude actually made the teacher cry from laughing so much. Needless to say after that one day state tests will always be funny for me and my friends. (I did not need to type all this but oh well).

I was a substitute for six years and somehow was always made to do restroom duty every year for standardized testing and had to just sit outside the bathroom and watch the kids and make sure they didn’t talk and only one went into the bathroom at once 🙄🙄 wasn’t even allowed a book , it was torture

I was a Substitute Teacher for a bit and I just sat whenever I didn't need to write on the board. Principal came in at one point and tried to scold me after I was off duty about setting an example and I just laughed in her face that I was not paid enough to be on my feet the entire time lmao

I was terrible when it came to state testing in high-school. In primary and middle school they made it sound like if you didn't do well on state tests, that you'd fail your grade. By 9th grade I found out that the testing doesn't, infant, impact your grade. So for that years test I tried but I didn't stress out about it like I used to. But then I eventually realized that men failing didn't do anything to mentor the school, we were a small school with high graduation rates, like 1 kid out of every other grade might not graduate, and usually because they decided to play with drugs. My school went hard in the "no kid left behind" law since the more kids who graduate, the more funding you get. So even if you tried to fail class, the chances of actually doing so were very low and teachers that flunked kids were older and after that law passed, those teachers oddly "retired" once it was realized they were gonna stick to their guns and give kids the grade they deserve and not the one that makes the school look good. Well come my 10th grade year I stopped trying on state tests. I'd get my packet, look at how many questions were on there then make zig zag designs on the answer sheet and use scrap paper to work on my drawing skills. Sometimes I'd even take a nap after. In English we had to write an essay. I can't remember the prompt, something about write an essay about a time you felt encouraged to succeed or some bs. I just wrote "I'm not going to do as the prompt requests. These tests are stupid and a waste of time. They don't test on our knowledge but instead our ability to regurgitate information we've had crammed down our throats for the past two weeks, only to be forgotten the moment we walk out the door. The only thing this test succeeds in is stressing kids out and making schools think their great because they ranked a certain way. Its all pointless and not worth my stress. Figure out better ways to see if schools are doing their job instead of the anxiety ridden circus that only results on "the budget going up" meaning the football team and dance team/cheerleaders get new uniforms and equipment, whilenart departments and classes of actual substance get defended and even cut all together. Thanks but no thanks. I'm good." And at the bottom I added a rough sketch of that comic that says "to be fair, we need everyone to climb that tree" with a picture of a penguin, elephant, monkey, fish, etc. I had teachers that later asked why I was always the first to finish the tests but not also top of my class. I explained what I did and most the teachers either understood and didn't mind, or even got a chuckle out of them. I did have 1 teacher that got mad. She told me that my "hijinks" was going to hurt everyone else. I told her there were maybe 3 people in the whole school that I cared about and none of them tested high nor cared about the school so what happens to this place doesn't bother me. Then she tried to tell me that I was going to be the sole cause of the budget being cut. To which I chuckled and said "oh no, now your dance team can't get a 4th set of uniforms to wear this year, whatever will I, a student whose not on any sports, do" she got angry then said "I wonder what your parents will have to say about this?" Apparentky after the results came in and it was seen that I did fail all the tests, but our state ranking was higher than the year before, they still decided that since they couldn't "make an example of me" outright to the student body, then they'd bring my parents onto the matter, think that would change my mind to not try on the tests. Well when the principal, counselor, and 1 angry teacher called my parents, apparently the discussion didn't go as planned. They complained about my "antics" and how it could impact the schools ranking, even though it didn't. Well my dad (who was known to punish me and my siblings if we got anything lower than a B-) got very angry. At the school for calling him. He asked them "if she bombs these tests, will she fail school?"
Well no...
"will it impact her ability to get into college?"
Well the results are anonymous, so no...
"Will her treating testing week as a long in school vacation impact her or her future prospects in any way?"
Not really
"Then why are you calling me?"
Well it's the principal-
"I'm gonna stop you right there. I don't care about the 'principal' of it. I don't care about your manufactured morality on the subject. I don't care about the asinine leaps in logic you've decided to make to justify you're belief. You and I both know from our own experiences taking state testing that the results of said tests will do NOTHING to a child but cause, frankly, unnecessary anxiety. What this all boils down to is you're passed off that you couldn't sit on your ass and milk extra money from my daughters stress, so now are trying to, poorly, manipulate me into threatening her to do better so your school can get a better rank, and thus more funding. While I do believe that schools need better funding, I don't believe YOUR school needs it since we all know that the funding you get is applied either towards the sport teams, or 'upgrades' to the school that aren't necessary. When you guys decide to finally listen to the parents and put a proper percent of the budget towards either classes that kids HAVE to take, or to necessary upgrades to the schools, like actually working heating and AC units, or water pipes that wont cause lead poisoning, THEN I'll tell my daughter to do better on the tests. Your schools inability to upgrade the football stadium for the 3rd time in 5 years is not my daughter's problem. Do better and so will she. Otherwise, stop wasting my time. If she's not getting detention or getting C or lower in class, then I don't want to see your number on my phone again."
The next year they tried to bribe us with a pizza party if the school went up in ranking and gave a speech about how sOmE of us may see it as a waste of time, but the testing was really important for us students and WE ALL had to try harder to support our classmates. I know that speech was directed towards me because while it was a thirty minute speech, THAT part in particular, the principal spent talking to everyone, but glaring daggers at me. My friends even noticed his death stare and later asked why he seemed to not be happy with me and I told them exactly what happened the year before. They got a kick out of it and decided to not try in the tests either. That year I didn't even fill out the test slips, just handed them back empty. The guidance counselor tried to pull strings and have me retake the tests, like say I wasn't feeling good so was in the nurses office or something. I told her to do what she felt she needed to do so long as much attendance wasn't impacted. Well that worked like once cuz come test retake day, I got my mom on on my shenanigans and she called me out of school that day for "personal reasons" the counselor tried to call my mom to get her to bring me in just long enough to do my retake and my mom got mad told her "my husband already talked to you guys last year. Be happy you're talking to me and not him right now. My daughter was at school on test day. She have back a test paper. End of discussion. She doesn't have to redo a test just because your not happy with her results. And last I checked, what you're trying to do could have HUGE consequences for the school. Her results might slightly impact the ranking, your actions could cause legal repercussions. So yea. She's sraying home and you're leaving her alone about this. ANY further discussion about state tests and my daughter will result in not only my husband being involved again, but this going past you and even the local school board, and instead will go all the way to the state board and whoever oversees the tests and and consequences for, oh what's the word... cheating? Fraudulent test results? Need I go on?"
Yea. After that the school would hype up getting good scores on the tests, but any student that flunked the test, especially on purpose, was just ignored by the principal. Which wasn't a real change from the norm cuz he only paid attention to those who were very big trouble makers, or kids of rich family's whose parents donated to the school alot. So if you were a kid who just went to school and minded you business and wasn't middle-upper class, then you were usually ignored anyway lol
My teacher during state testing was looking at all of the kids with freckles (including me) and I think she was counting our freckles 😭✋

@@ginnybean838 when i was in school doing state tests, they always said that t hey could only help us understand the question being asked and could not help us solve questions in any way, if asked why they said that (as it was kind of a 'duh, i have to do my own test' situation), they'd give the explanation that there were cases where teachers have helped their students cheat on state testing before.

Most teachers let you read. The reason why you can’t do anything else is because we don’t want you to be eager to be able to do something because it may cause you to rush through your test. We realize that most students wouldn’t do that, but some students definitely would and it would make it look like they knew less than they really did because they didn’t apply themselves.
