Not sure if anyone mentioned this but you can cut out the padding next to the usb port so that your phone can make a good connection with your phone case on. I have a Z Fold 4 and stock case that wouldnt work with this controller, and also the Gamesir X2, but after removing the rubber padding by slicing a line down the corner with an exacto knife, it fits perfectly. I refused to have to remove my phone case every time I wanted to play games.

as for passthrough charge, they mentioned in the official site that not all phones compatible with it
I'm unlucky enough that my phone doesn't support passthrough charge. Nevertheless it's a great controller.

Great video, I love your short format for product reviews! If that was like 10% larger it would be a no-brainer for me, I really want that style to fit my iPad Mini.

And yes, the size on the G8 would be SO much nicer if it were larger, and handheld gaming on an iPad would be a dream come true. It’s better than holding the phone by itself, but with super big hands I’m always onboard for larger peripherals!

I think the G8 is definitely worth considering then! Like I mentioned in the video it's not perfect for giant hands, but it's just ergonomically comfortable overall!
And you're right, I butchered the pronunciation of it :/ I wish YT would allow me to edit that one word and record audio over it, lol

So while I don’t have experience with the Backbone specifically, I have to say that this G8 really is quite fantastic. It was kind of tough to review because I try to find at least SOMETHING to improve, but this controller really does everything quite well. And the biggest thing for me is how durable the material is. It really feels like an actual controller. So personally, I definitely recommend the G8, but again I’ve only played with it specifically!

@@freakytechreviews Hey Lex! I second this, but I feel like at this point the Backbone led the way, but is now in catch up mode. Which isn't uncommon for being innovative in a space, others catch up and surpass you. This one will have better controls than the backbone and the backbone is a bit more. If you rely on the software of your controllers, the Backbone does work with iOS 13.4 and up, but if you're mostly plug and play this seems to be better. I'm going to reach out to them and see if I can test as well!! Great Review Brother!!

How good are the sticks. These controllers always have crappy sticks and it's useless for fps shooters

I personally love the sticks. Hall effects are always welcome in my studio, but they. just feel like actual controller joysticks. I'm testing the Playstation Portal right now for an upcoming video, and the sticks on the G8 are better than the Portal's in my opinion.
