Brummie born and bred, my city is often mocked but it doesn't deserve the reputation it has, it has and is continously upgrading its infrastructure and I am proud to live here. I work at the Library of Birmingham, the tourist information centre is situated here and we help with guiding people to places of interest within the city.
Yes Birmingham is over twice the size of Manchester. Birmingham city population is 1.25 million n the greater metro area is 4 million. Manchester City population is 530k n the greater metro area is 2.6 million.
Hello, I'm from Birmingham. If you're visiting the area another place you should consider seeing is the Severn Valley railway. Its just outside Birmingham and you can get to it by train from Birmingham City centre (its not far). You can spend the day riding about the countryside on a steam trains.
hey man, brummie here. nice to see your reaction as an american to my home city. to answer your visitors question, it all depends on what you want to do and see as a tourist. would you like to experience our bars, pubs, & nightlife, or are you more for the art, culture, and historical side of things? based on whatever direction you want to take your visit is usually what you'll end up seeing. if you do come, i recommend doing a little bit more digging, & perhaps contacting a local you may know to give you the proper tour as paid tours only show points of interest, not the actual city like all the back streets and suburban areas, which is where most of the industrial stuff is & some of the best food spots.
The National motorcycle museum, resorts world. The lickey hills and just outside of birmingham we also have the west midlands safari park and Drayton manor theme park . There are tours on the canal and some great bars/pubs alongside it in the city centre . There's always something to do in birmingham
As for showing people around, it's nice to go into the city centre and visit the shops, pubs, restaurants etc and look at the old architecture that still stands in the city. The museums and art galleries are also located in the city centre. The castles and manor houses aren't in the city centre so it would take up a day to visit those individually. Aston hall is the closest to the city centre, only one train stop away or a decent walk. Fun fact, Aston is where Ozzy Osbourne was born. I would like to add that this video has made Birmingham look a lot more glamorous than reality nevertheless I hope you are able to visit one day!
Is Amsterdam that good? I men, we got some pretty good shit going on here in Cali. Don't get me wrong, if I could go to Europe and smoke a J..... Brotha! That shit would be DOPE!
@@916reactions2 i dont know if its better, and to be honest i would prefer Haarlem or Utrecht over Amsterdam nowadays, but the weed in the Netherlands is one of the best
Birmingham is often mocked within the UK and mostly by people who have never visited it. It is much like every other major city in the UK it has its areas writhe with poverty and areas that are some of the most prosperous in the entire country. Often people are judged immediately upon saying they are from this city but the truth is it had had many contributions to both modernising the UK and the world and has an arts and culture scene second only to the capital.
Can someone please tell me what the West Midlands are? I know it's an area. But every video I look up, it's just music with beautiful scenery and no explantation as to where the area is! Looks beautiful, though.

For interesting videos of various places around the UK i would recommend AdventureShawn. Shawn is very enthusiastic and informative and has an 'everyman' approach i.e. he doesn't try to make professional looking, tourist type videos. He has some cool ones on Scotland in particular and has recently made an excellent one on the Eden Project in Cornwall.
Wolverhampton and Worcestershire isn't Birmingham my father used to see ozzy Osborne playing as a kid but disliked his family and rock music tbf and preferred skar music. I went to London for work and see so many people I could not live there I am happy I'm not from there its soo expensive and crowded
There is no single thing as a curry, even in Indian and Pakistani restaurants there will been maybe 40 different curries with Lamb, Chicken, Beef shrimp (prawn) or Veggie options. they will range from very hot, Madras or Vindaloo to mild Dhansk or Korma with many in between. Birmingham's large Indian and Pakistani population means there are plenty of curry restaurants or as they are called Curry Houses. Birmingham even has its own curry which was invented in the city called a Balti. Curries are traditionally eaten with rice and Indian breads either a Nan or Chapatti and maybe some Indian pickles and chutneys . Warning good curries are addictive.
London is full of people from Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, all saying how great their home cities are. Of course none of them would ever dream of going back to live there. Brummies do not need to escape Birmingham so its image is not so well known as other British cities
'And maybe the Beatles were from Birmingham'. C'mon! Don't be a sap. I know you guys pretend to know nothing, to get comments, but you're insulting your viewers if you expect them to believe that cr*p.
To be fair, I was smoking and drinking. It was an off the cuff thought. And, to be honest, never was a big Beatles fan. I respect their place in history and their musicality. Just don't care for them. Now, their solo projects...Are some of the best masterpieces I've heard. So, There is nothing fake about y comments. It's either pure ignorance.... Or just pure ignorance. Thanks for watching and commenting, homie.

I'd say Brum & the Black Country is the most important city in the modern world.
Look up the lunar society.
Ozzy Osbourne was born in Solihull in Birmingham, 2 miles from the Land Rover’s Lode Lane factory where I used to work.

Interesting video. I live just outside Birmingham.
There is with no doubt a lot of great rock bands that came from Birmingham But,..The Beatles are not one of them. They were from Liverpool.
Funny thing is, I realized that as soon as I said it. Can't take back what I already said. Had to own it....I guess. Thanks for watching!
