I have a 06 XB as well, and I have a huge Wolfram 15 I want to put in there. I want to invert the woofer because 1, I think it looks cool... 2, like you said, airspace. I think it’s going to be a super tight fit, and I think to get the 3.5-4 cubic ft of air space it needs, I might have to invert it.
Im running a inverted subwoofer in my living room. even there i noticed the difference between running it normal or inverted. if u turn my eq above 45% it litteraly starts taking my breath away
I have a question ,I have a rockford fosgate ported box designed for 12" subs ,would it be possible to use some fifteens in this box either standard mount or inverted .or if I just seal up the original sun holes and run just one 15" in it ?????please help need info s.a.p.
I have 2 rockville k6 that i had to invert because they have super wide baskets that wont fit my sub zero box. the box is like 1.85 cubic feet per sub.
I have a 10inch sub n it's kinda smallish for a 10inch and the port is kinda small idk if I invert it idk if it'll get more bass or so n there's a 8inch sub inside when u take off the 10inch subwoofer box
Try it out like I did I had a cheap 10 inch dual didn't fit in the ported box I had then I inverted the sub and it hits good not gonna lie trunk also acts like a room bass waves hit louder from my experience
@@EARDRUMASSASSIN okay built a specific way meaning does the box afto be built in such a way that the rubber on the speaker flushes inside the box when inverted or does it rest on the front of the box and play without causing a problem with the flexing of the speaker ?
How did you seal the sub? Because my L7S's have rough top surfaces so there will def be small gaps between baffle and sub. I'm gonna try weatherstripping caulk tape, $3 @ Walmart which E.X.O. suggests in one of his videos.
I want some advice on buying subs, I'm a jbl fan and I want to know if DVC or SVC will be better firstly and if you have any knowledge on them maybe help me deside on the best sounding one between Gt5-12D dual coil 275 watt rms; and jbl stage 1210 250watt rms single coil.
Welp honestly the impedance of a subwoofer mostly plays into how low you want to wire down your amp . For example dual 2 can be wired down to 1 ohm while dual 4 can be wired down to 2 ohm . Single 2 ohm will be 2 ohm only . Single 4 ohm will be 4 ohm only unless multiple subs are wired up . I honestly don’t know much about jbl subwoofers to offer advice on which is better other than the dual coil allows more wiring options. Hope that helps some .
So if I invert both of my subs in a sealed box .. do I wire them normal or invert the polarity as well ?? Or is it fine if I invert both instead of just 1 ... please can someone answer me ASAP !!! I’m wiring them in as I speak
Found this after melting my subs and not being able to tell until it was too late. Mild system, 2 entry level 10s in a sealed box on 460 RMS. Designed with poor cooling, all they had was the hole in the pole. These little things were smoking their brains out, and I couldn't smell it inside the sealed box. I ripped one out and smoke billowed out of the box. And boy were they hot. I could barely touch it. The magnet itself was the hottest piece but the basket wasn't too far behind. I later realized that the glue that held the spider to the basket had let go and there was nothing locating the voice coil. The adhesive holding the speaker together became so hot that it began to liquify, and I couldn't tell, and let them Blast away until it all came apart. I pulled the second one and it didn't smell anything like the first one, you know that smell of burnt speakers. This was strictly a chemical smell, it was just adhesive I was smelling no voice coil. Sure enough, two-thirds of the spider come off the basket. Replace them with the exact same pair of speakers mounted inverted strictly for the purpose of keeping them cool. Playing under identical conditions that blew the original set, these get slightly warm to the touch. And playing under those identical conditions, it is remaining glued together. I can't tell you or calculate in anyway how much more efficient it is at cooling, but I can tell you it is effective
Inverting a single subwoofer alone only matters to the guy who's looking at the thing while he's listening to it. The actual benefit of inverting a subwoofer driver is apparent when you have a second driver that is NOT inverted and the polarity is oposite (popularized by M&K "push/pull" subwoofers).
It creates more headroom so your ears will actually be tricked into believing its taking pressure from your head when in fact it's merely when positive waveform leaves your ear that you notice the difference in headroom. This makes it sound like the audio is occupying more airspace than normal only because the other speakers are drawing the air pressure from the wavelengths away from sub, making the lower frequencies modulate back and fourth differently from the higher ones because actually it's more desirable to invert the main speakers and simply decrease the level of the Amp to your sub, making your entire airspace simulate the positive and negative pressure changes of a subwoffer acting normally.. The difference is once you leave your space your ears only notice the higher frequency that bleeds out from the lower ones pushing against the speakers... headroom Is only comprehensible when you in same room as sub like he said
@@EARDRUMASSASSIN - The driver occupying a high enough percentage of the enclosure volume to make a noticeable difference would mean that your enclosure was way too small to begin with. How is it that the whole car stereo community seems to be oblivious to Thiel/Small paramaters?
No . only if you’re running more than one sub and one is inverted and the other isn’t . Some ppl say they can hear a difference if they switch polarity. I couldn’t .
If they both are inverted or both conventional they can be hooked up standard or reverse polarity. If one is inverted only one is reversed. Doesn't matter which. They don't have to be "in or out of phase with the components/coax, (mids/highs) because they are not playing the same frequencies. The only place that phase cancelation is really an issue is down low. This is because it's very easy to align long sound waves (or un-align for lack of a better term) Higher frequency waves are extremely tiny making it much harder to cause phase issues. Waves cancel when 2 identical waves are 180 degrees out of phase with each other. Provided the subwoofers are on the same plane, they should be moving together. (Impossible by sight to see)
Hey bro ive noticed a new sub out there By Harmony Audio its called the Monalith have you heard or seen of these?? They are only $300 and they look beefy. I want to say they have that T basket. Check it out if u get a chance.

Yea or remove the rear seat.
Seems like "hearing the venting" is all the reason to never invert them.
Reversing polarity helps the SQ of your component/door speakers so that they aren't cancelled out by the sub.
Excellent video topic of choice for discussion brother
Thank you sir .
I'm a huge fan of inverting. Especially in suv's or of that sort. Makes for a more "boomy" situation. If you want SQ, don't invert.

That enclosure looks big enough for that sub.
It’s build exactly for the L7 12 .
What gauge wire is running from the amp to the sub? Just got a 1500 watt amp and want to use some spare 12 gauge wire.
I believe that was sky high 12ga speaker wire.
Get some 8ga and you’ll be set forever but definitely from sky high

Nice
Isnt there a way to have the box water cooled if the voice coils are water resistant? So you get that wavy 🌊 bass 🔊💪🏼??

I have a fiberglassed ported bandpass box with 2 JBL 12's should I invert them inward and remove the fiberglass face?

@@EARDRUMASSASSIN thanks friend. You bet.
How do you invert the subs when the outer lip around the basket prevents it from sitting flush on the wood?
My box was carpet so it sealed it up.
Does the box afto be built a special way ?
Can you be more specific when you mean built a special way ?

As long as the surround doesn’t rub, it will be perfectly fine.
Should i invert my sealed 10’
You can. You may gain some lows but lose some cone control. Definitely will help with cooling.

ahh, you're relying on the carpet, i see.. my box is coated in rhino dura liner so it is quite bumpy/rough surface.
The enclosure had carpet which acted like a gasket .
@@lowhertzhighspl I would look into Some bike innertubes cut up you can make own gasket.
I dont know if you did caulk but wearther striping for windows at a hardware store works great and has multiple options for cheap
