I agree completely with you about people not being as nice as they used to be! I use to go to the gym everyday & finally just quit because I was sick of the people! Some of them would act like the equipment was theirs so now I do my treadmill 6 days a week & use bands & weights here at home! Really enjoyed today’s video! TFS!🥰

People really have gotten ruder. I'm in Canada the supposed land of politeness and it's different here now. A lot of people treat others like an inconvenience instead of a neighbour.

@@sharroon7574’m 60 this month & find that even before my time, maybe back in the 50s, people had more manners. I think as a society we need to get back to being more formal & have better manners. Sorry to say that, but it just seems people act TOO casual out in public, if you know what I mean. And some just behave like Charm School dropouts. 😉

Lifetime had good yoga classes and equipment. I had a membership at a women’s only club for awhile and really enjoyed it, but people kept to themselves. Agree with the pet peeves. I have noticed people are so impatient now (worse since 2020), particularly with driving. You take your life in your hands if on foot or bike.

    • @joansmith6844
      @joansmith6844 ปีที่แล้ว

Nothing wrong with people keeping to themselves but I’ve been a lifetime member for over 30 years and there’s three of them by me that I may go to out of one of them every yoga instructor is top notch the other two not so much pretty much like a rec Center type yoga when you know you know Lifetime is priced out of the market now it’s extremely expensive a lot of people are switching more places are opening up that offer just as much and you get exactly what you needSteam sauna dry hot sauna great floor work great class studio work great Yoga check around Lifetime is not everything not all the time very expensive corporate are oil moguls it’s all about the money nothing about the workers or the members🎉truth
The best thing about lifetime is That they do have two studio classrooms constantly moving and rocking with with instructors , cycle classroom yoga classroom not all instructors are good it’s time consuming to figure out which one works for you the thing about Lifetime is that they are allowed to use their own music and they can do their own routine unlike a place like powerhouse where they follow through les mills which is great as well but they use their own music( taking out bad words evil things in the music industry which is good) and they do Les Mills classes you have to follow through teams that they give you and they’re all good again you just gotta find the instructor that works for you because not every instructor is your caliber or I am strong and I need the highest caliber powerhouse also the younger generation is really into competing work out competing which motivates you on the floor work out but yes everyone’s losing their patienceIt’s not in the vehicle it’s in the grocery store it’s everywhere ever since Covid
Also yes very rude and people have their phone on speaker and you’re listening to the conversation that’s happened to T J max everywhere I go it’s disgusting and it’s rude nobody wants to listen to somebody else’s crap

You really got me going when you talked about cell phone use today and going to the gym. My biggest peeve at the gym is cell phones in the locker room. I’ve belonged to gyms for over 30 years. I like to change clothes and shower after I work out. The other women members are taking selfies and making video calls constantly. I’m looking at them and can see who they are talking to while I’m undressed and I’m clearing in their camera view. Same for the selfies. NOT KIDDING. Even grandmas are doing it. Just noticed this behavior in the last few years. Beyond inconsiderate and rude. Now when I go to the gym, I’m trying to put on my clean clothes in the soaking wet shower stall. I can’t recommend this.
I checked out a “life time”gym a few years ago; the monthly cost was the amount of mid priced car payment. It was really nice, good classes, and had a great outdoor pool area with a slide and cabanas better than most expensive hotels.
Love your videos. I moved and miss my dermatologist; you have really helped me out serval times. Stay cool!

Hi Dr Dray!. I know you mention that you don't have to wash in the morning but I do have a question regarding if you put a few drops of oil (ex: grapeseed oil) on your face after moisturizer the night before. When I look in the mirror in the morning, it seems like the oil is still there (but what do I know?). I know that oil can adversely affect sunscreen and its ability to protect hence why it's not recommended for your morning routine. Is it a good idea to cleanse in the morning if you do put oil on the night before?

I used to work out at a lifetime fitness in Las Vegas. If you’re doing classes or using their Pilates studio or personal trainers, then it may be worth it (offered at additional costs of course) but other than that I considered it to be a waste of money and time. The most popular weight training machines are typically unavailable so I always ended up on their cardio equipment. Like you, I added a treadmill to my free weights and my Pilates reformer and have never considered going back to the gym.

Hi Dr. Dray. I have had several years of membership at Lifetime, and at least in Colorado the locations vary greatly regarding instructors, taking care of equipment, and general cleanliness. See if you can get a free week and try a few locations out that you would be willing to travel to. I stopped my membership because the closest one for me was 30 minutes away. I figured I could just run or do body weight exercises in the time it would take me to drive there and back. That said, I really liked the group weight and cycling classes. Historically Lifetime had a bad rap regarding making it difficult to cancel your membership, but I didn't have any issues. Thanks for all of your great content.

Lifetime is 100000% worth it! For me personally, anyway - it depends what motivates you and what you want from a training atmosphere. I personally really love a sense of community and the diversity of the classes, so the price tag for all of that in one gym is totally worth it (I joined 6 years ago tho so might have a lower membership fee that what's going now). There is also traditional workout options, olympic lifting, personal training, events. etc. So if you don't care about those things, don't need a fun events or yoga day options, don't really care about meeting people or building community at the gym, then no I'd say Lifetime is not worth it. But having someone to be accountable to for me, whether that was my trainer or the instructors or my friends, made a HUGE difference, and was the only thing that worked to actually change my body adn get me on a fitness journey. I really owe Lifetime everything. It's a much chiller vibe (and I think less expensive) than something comparable like Equinox. And the focus on education and program building was hugely important to me. I won't ever say a bad thing abt Lifetime, I loved it!!!

Lifetime has some nice group classes and amenities. The one near me has childcare for members, a sauna, a steam room, an indoor pool with water slide, pilates reformer classes, a cafe with food and smoothies, etc. Lots of equipment so not as much competition or waiting. They do run specials on membership fees different times of the year, too. It is on the higher end pricing wise compared to other gyms I've joined over the years. You do get a lot of access for that price though. I cancelled over the pandemic. Now I'm at a smaller gym.

They seem oblivious as a line of people build up, while they’re leisurely shopping. 🤷‍♀️ I use Vaseline as a shield around my eyes, on the nights I use a Retinal. Really does the trick to prevent the Retinal from migrating in my eyes while I sleep. I spend to much time at Costco, but you never know what you’ll find. Maybe something new & exciting ! 😃

Happy Saturday! I joined the expensive Lifetime gym for the swimming pool(s). The Lifetime near me has two indoor pools, a lap pool and a warmer, shorter lane, “leisure” pool. For warm weather months, the outdoor lap pool opens at 6am. The indoor pools open at 4 am. This works out very well for me- I usually like to swim before work, and between the two pools, I rarely have to wait for a lane. I don’t use the gym equipment or take in person classes- but some great classes are available online- both live streamed and many On Demand. The workout area with equipment, etc, I very large, and I have not heard complaints about etiquette- I wouldn’t be surprised if it was bad- but the size helps. In sum: for me, the cost is worth it.

I use petrolatum jelly for my lips all the time. It works so well, no other product has ever worked better. So weird how society has vilified it, maybe it needs a name change lol just the other day my dad compared it to like motor oil or something crazy like that 🙄

Whenever someone vilifies petroleum jelly I always make sure to tell them well then I sure hope you don't use plastic containers at all and avoid the road like it's the black death because those are also made from derivatives and wastes from the oil and fossil fuel industry ☠ I get so mad myself

Since Covid, I've had a simple exercise routine that I can do easily at home and saves me the time driving to the gym. Yeah - it's not like you really make friends at the gym since everyone keeps to themselves anyway with headphones on and also the hygiene level of sharing equipment and also sweat smells not exactly a turn-on. So yeah - it's cheaper, cleaner and easier for me to just do it at home with a simple pair of weights and body-weight exercises. I don't know about you but push-ups, planks and squats are a pretty intense workout if you do enough reps. I got a pull-up bar that fits over my door and I have the full "gym". I jog around my local park which is right around the corner for aerobics. The grass is easier on the knees. BTW ran out of hand soap and just started using my face soap for same. Save space on my small bathroom counter too LOL.

Fellow hotflashers, if you sweat a lot at night - I rinse the sweat & dust off every AM with a simple toner/rinse of water & aloe gel, and optionally you can add a bit of glycerin (often avail at walmart, target, & mega drugstores, often labeled vegetable glycerin) and/or squalane oil. Prevents irritation & breakouts from the sweat, incredibly simple & gentle, and packs some extra humectants in right away.

Aloe gels the one i use at least all seam to pill 😅 but adding glycerin or squalane is something i did, i did it to my toners and called it a day

As always another great video. I to do not like when people are on their phones in the store. They talk to loud. Sometime when I'm not paying attention I think there talking to me. I also have heard people on airplanes are also rude because they talk to loud. If the flight is long lookout.

Haha I'm so glad you mentioned how you push the door open in your bathroom. I noticed months ago that you do it ALL the time and I always wanted to ask why! 😂
Also you're definitely not alone not wanting to talk on the phone. I feel like it's a common thing for our generation (I'm 39). Part of me feels like it's because cell phone connections are often poor and I hate having to ask "what?" 80 times so talking on the phone makes me anxious!

Something that really gets to me are people who mistreat their dogs. The ones who yank their leashes, yell and spank their dogs for not "behaving" when it's obvious their dogs have never been on a leash before...I see this all the time at the vet's office and even the office workers don't say anything. I usually try to spark up a conversation just to distract the person from their dog. It usually works but sometimes the person just remains an idiot.
