Omg the double life was horrible!!! Sexual repression was so bad for me. The first time i had sex at 17 I didn't even know where the penis was supposed to go!!!!!!! I had zero sex ed. Surprised i made it all these years without getting pregnant or something serious lol. Even when i got married i felt my body was dirty and wrong ugh they damaged my self love so much!

This aversion to anything sexual is so damaging!

Same here. Had sex when I was 27. Pure madness.

There's so much to say about how this organisation is obsessed with sex and sexuality. The organisation is strong in having their own opinions about these subjects, but in the end you realise that the members can't handle them in a normal way, including the elders. So then you get nosy behaviour and secrets that are kept. But my own experience is that if something traumatic happens in your life and you really need your brothers and sisters, elders included, no one is really there for you to give you love, support and comfort. You just have to wait for Jehovah and endure....Thank you guys! Love from The Netherlands, Nina.

currently living a double life and i hate it :( i've been doing it for years it's normal to me, on top of that my parents are making me study the scriptures with them, and i can't say no or they will not let me do stuff i want to do. my siblings, even if my brother is really devoted, are the only ones who have given me good advice. my own brother said i didn't have to be in this if i didn't want to, that even if after my teen years passed and i didn't want to be in it i didn't have to, and that no one should force me to :( i wish my parents also thought like this. it also sucks because of my sexual orientation and the anxiety i get having to hide that :/

Thank you Riley & Beau! So many things rang true for me of your discussion. I too, enjoyed Steven Hassan’s mention of our authentic self & the cult self. It sometimes helps me to differentiate certain character traits, forcing me to not be so hard on myself, striving to discover even more of my authentic self that lay dormant for so long!... Love it Riley when you break out in laughter, does my ♥️ a world of good!

I always hated their over-emphasis on endurance. Sure, endurance has its place in life, but taking steps to end the difficult circumstance, improving the quality of life in general or taking a break from time-to-time are other available options. I remember in a local needs talk, a young brother spoke regarding the desire to move to a different state, city, or community because of being under stress. He instructed that the only reason one should have to move away, was to do so with a view to serving where the need was greater.

The endurance thing was a big deal for me. I hated hearing it.

Thx for sharing, I think it helps tear the 'curtain' /tower down. People who are having a hard time figuring things out can be helped to realize that others before, and even now, have had the same struggle, and how to work thru it.

Apparently according to the Service servant in my" Last of last" congregation Sunday Service groups were poorly attended, was because the bro's were hectic partying and drinking on Sat night by teens to Elders

The irony. I'm living a double life because I am a fading PIMO (if there's such a thing). I will report you all to Steve Lett😂

Masturbation is only taboo when you get caught. I used to think it was bad but my ex neighbors lil brother told me that when I leave she puts a pillow between her legs and screams my name. I paid him 10$ to never repeat that story. He didn’t know he was describing his sister masturbating. He didn’t understand that he caught her in a private moment and how embarrassed she would be if he told somebody else.
