I wish the app was more of this curriculum and not just subtitles stacked on one another. I like that you show the Spanish subtitles, then break it down in English, and then re-play the Spanish. It's extremely helpful

Do you realize how labor intensive and expensive that would be? You should take private lessons with someone if that's what you require.
I just wish the narrator of the video spoke neutral Spanish and not Argentinian Spanish that is very hard for a non-native to understand. But I love the concept of you using a popular TV series to teach another language, can you do the same with other TV series and even cartoons?

I love different Spanish accents but Spanish should be taught with a neutral accent because it confuses Spanish students when they hear “utede” instead of “ustedes” or “tu eta” instead of “tu estas” the letter s is always ignored and it’s important for people trying to learn a language not to ignore a letter for the sake of an accent
I absolutely see what you're saying - one accent should not be presented as "the definitive" accent. But actually, as someone trying to learn Spanish to travel across South America, I find it more useful to hear a variety of accents to gain better understanding of the variety of Spanish I'll be hearing as I go. That may not be your experience, and it may be because I'm already familiar with some of the accents, but here's a few pointers for beginners:
The lady in the video sounds to me like she speaks with either a Chilean or a western Argentine (possibly San Juan/Mendoza) accent. She's skipping a lot of "s" and softening a lot of "d" sounds which is typical of that accent. There are slightly different accents in the northern- and southernmost ends of both Chile and Argentina though so that's worth looking into if interested. Something else to note is that Chileans tend to speak even more quickly than Argentinians!
Other variations in accent include the South American tendency to respirate "g" (meaning it sounds so breathy it almost sounds like you're clearing your throat). European/Castilian Spanish tends to maintain a harder "g".
Finally, because I could be here all day, I'll touch on the Mexican accent, which stands out for its "neutrality". Most words are pronounced "as written" so they're generally easier to understand. Great accent to start with for beginners as it bridges the accentual _and_ colloquial gaps between both European and South American Spanish. You'll be able to understand most slang on both sides of the Atlantic!
I hope this helps someone in some way. Again, no accent should be "prioritised" unless you're planning on moving to a specific country and you don't want to sound like a _gringo!_
@@roisingrant At my job there are many Latinos from different countries like Columbia, Argentina, Honduras, Nicaragua, and even Spanish speakers from PR but the majority are from Mexico I’ve spoken to all of them and the accent is easy to get by it’s the slang and some words that are used differently that will stump each other and as a Mexican American I’ve even picked up columbina and PR slang that I use daily with other Mexicans now lol
The one thing I wanted to point out is the Mexican accent isn’t only said to be neutral and the general Spanish to prioritize because of how it’s pronounced but also because Mexico is much bigger in size and population to the rest of Latin America. It should go with out being said that if you plan on going to a specific country you should focus on the dialect from there but I believe a general student will benefit more if they read write and listen to a more neutral accent to learn Spanish
How funny would it be to hear a Spanish speaker learn English with a heavy country or British accent and perfects it then travels to many different English speaking countries 😂
Honestly so many accents in Spanish omit the S and also the D a lot. In every Spanish speaking country this happens. So it’s better for students to get accustomed to that as soon as possible. Otherwise you won’t understand a word anyone is saying.

Que dices? El español es español, vayas donde vayas. El acento no tiene nada que ver, no es igual que inglés, perro, suena igual desde México hasta la Patagonia, o cortar las palabras es la misma cosa en México y en Argentina o Colombia etc.

Could you also mention which country's accent do you represent? When you speak fast, you omit and blend the sounds of some words but the actors didn't.
She's probably speaking Caribbean Spanish (Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Northern Colombia and Venezuela) as they omit the letter 's' often, like she did here.
She's speaking heavy Argentinian Spanish, which even for us native speakers is hard to get unless she speaks slow. She should had use neutral Spanish like the one spoken by professionals on TV and the people that dub U.S. TV series in Spanish.

@@alienlatino2945 I'm following another channel with teacher from Argentina and she is speaking without aspirating S and pronounces LL like French J, not hard English J like here. She says she is from Cordoba so it probably varies in Argentina too 😅

I think the difficulty level will discourage A1-B2 people but I also think that B2 people should "bite the bullet" and get moving. At some point you have to adapt to the speed or you will never get to C1. Ever.

Some of these videos are less helpful than others. I just watched another one from this channel for a Big Bang Theory episode and the guy went into detail on some of the words and other meanings or uses. This was a much less helpful version, just a woman repeating "mi sandwich" so we got to hear "mi sandwich" 8 times instead of just 4. Plus an explanation of what a refrigerator is: "a device for keeping things cold".
Less repetition and definitions of cognates, more explanation on colloquial terms and words that don't translate directly would be better. (example: "haber visto"? is this a conjugation of avistar?
