There may be some bad blood between disney and physical media customers, but I will say that their 4K steelbook mando and mcu disney+ release were outstanding! I just wish this is a trend now, not an outlier.

I got my 4K copy of Super Mario Bros. a few weeks ago (I'm in Australia) and have to agree that even without any HDR, the quality is easily better than previous releases including Umbrella's Blu-ray release. Missed out on the big box set version with all of the extras because I waited too long to pre-order, but I am happy with the standard 2 disc set.
I got the standard edition of the Super Mario Bros. Umbrella release. That version is also limited and the J-card was numbered out of 3000.

April 30th is going to be an expensive bitch.
Tron, Tron's sequel, The Black Hole...owned by Disney...no 4Ks at this point. The Black Hole doesn't even have a good Blu-ray to date.
Tron: Legacy back in 2010 was already a fantastic Blu-ray in terms of picture and especially audio.
I bought and watched the Umbrella Super Mario Bros. I highly recommend it. The commentary tracks and the booklets add a lot of context for why the film turned out the way it did.
Hey James, can you give recommendations for HDMI cable? I don't know why some are $20 and others are $500
You shouldn't be paying no more than like $40 to be honest.
For 4K content, make sure to get one that has an orange and silver label on the packaging which says it is a Premium Certified cable. That means it will have no problem transmitting the 18gbps bandwidth of HDMI 2.0b for Ultra HD discs.

I have the standard edition and it only has 2 discs. The 3 disc set was only available if you pre-ordered one of the big box editions direct from the Umbrella Entertainment website.
Man, Disney is going to make me go broke in April! lol

Super Mario Bros. 4K was $8.95 on Amazon last night. 80% off had to be an error but I bought it anyway. It's back to $60 now.
Contagion costs way more than most releases, but you said it costs less because they left out the standard Blu-Ray. I’m having trouble reconciling those things. Seems like they charged a premium package price for a bare-bones release.
🤔Well it’s pretty simple because the going rate for new 4K restoration on 4K UltraHD this year has been $39.99-$59.99 depending on all the work involved & the studios cost themselves to produce!
💥So Contagion ONLY costs $33 so it’s roughly $6 LESS than the lowest cost average this year for brand new 4K Restorations & releases on 4K UltraHD💿!
♦️To give you another example 🦆MIGRATION on 4K UltraHD💿 that JUST released at price of $30-$40 & it did NOT cost anywhere near the amount that CONTAGION did to produce! Also, Contagion had tons of cost & work with a full 4K scan & 4K restoration, MIGRATION did not!! 🔹One more example is the Super Mario Bros. (1993) Limited edition 4K UltraHD💿 (that I also reviewed in this video) costs $59 & it’s by a much smaller boutique studio that put a massive amount of time & work into the new 4K scan & restoration so it’s reflected in the price & cost to produce more niche movie 4K UltraHD💿 titles!!👌

@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia I get when it’s a boutique label, they’re going to charge those prices, but I don’t agree with that price range for a big studio new 4K restoration. Look at the prices for Footloose, Varsity Blues, Beverly Hills Cop 3, The Naked Gun, etc. I would have expected Contagion to release at a price point comparable with titles like these.
The packaging is bare bones, there are no significant new extras despite a recent real-world pandemic, no pack-in Blu-ray and yet it seems to be releasing at a premium price point.
🤨Well sorry to say this, but it seems you clearly don’t understand or see the changes & trend going on this year with 4K Restorations & the increase in cost to produce HIGH QUALITY 4K transfers in the industry!
💥On top of that most of the titles you listed did NOT🚫 get full 4K restorations & some were horribly cheap & poor looking 4K💿 releases too!!🙄🤔So that’s where the old saying of “you get what you pay for” comes into play because your talking about the differences between amazing image quality (CONTAGION) vs horribly bad & poor (FOOTLOOSE) LOL!!!😂 🤣

@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia so nice to see that The Abyss got a great review from you as well - and that one comes with the 4K disc, a standard Blu-ray, a Blu-ray chock full of extras and yet Contagion with just the 4K disc costs 44% more than The Abyss (at least here in Canada).

I have S1 n S2 of Mando, the hdr grading is really good, like teh majority of Disney 4k they're lacking on the audio dept.
I swear there is no LFE, dont get why this keeps happening.
Turn up the volume a few notches, it helps a lot. Disney has gotten better with their audio the past year and a bit though
