Although the equations confused me, it was interesting to see how you can use both SPSS and Excel together for calculating the Cohen's d and using the data from the T-test. I will remember that the strength of the Cohen's d is not affected by it being positive or negative because negative versus positive determines the direction. Cohen's d also tells you how many standard deviations lower or higher the sample mean is from the population mean. This video was helpful because I am using Cohen's d in my research paper.
Hello, Dr. Grande. I am a student major in psychology. I want to use this method in my paper. Could you let me know the reference for this method to demonstrate?
Dr. Grande made another video for calculating Cohen's d using only Microsoft Excel, and I believe it is still in this playlist. I agree that flipping back and forth could be difficult. If I was not walked through these steps, I would have been confused.

Easy video to follow, I appreciate seeing SPSS and excel both. The calculations are simple and will be helpful later.
I also liked seeing the steps used in SPSS and Excel to calculate Cohen's d. I would need practice on using the equations though.
This was very helpful on how to calculate Cohen's d, excellent video.
Thank you! It's so simple yet I couldn't find it anywhere!
I'm glad you found the video useful. Thanks for watching.
Thank you this is so helpful, so you have a video on how to calculate Cohen’s d for independent samples t-test ?
Thank you so much! So helpful for nursing statistics :)
You're welcome, thank you for watching

how do you convert the t value calculated into a Cohen´s d for a single group?
Great video, thanks
Flipping back and forth to both Excel and SPSS can you use just one or the other when looking for this result

Hi Todd. I get effect sizes of 1 with several decimal places . Would I report as 1?
Wouldn't you just repport 1.xx with two decimal places?
How would I calculate the Cohen's d for a paired sample t-test using SPSS output?
