Oh my heart, when you told Jade she could read her tea leaves, the combination of your empathetic optimism and Jade's face going from disappointment to enthusiasm was so unbelievably sweet!!
What I love about your vlogs recently is how I noticed an evolution from mainly telling your everyday life to making your videos into art. I love it so much how you place small quotes from books in the voice overs and I really love your reflections on topics like the purpose of life (and how poetic you tell your reflections). So lovely videos, really! Thanks you, Ruby!
Thank you for the brief snippet of the bells ringing in Oxford. I remember this from when I was a boy in Newbury/Thatcham, but I wasn't sure that it was still being done today. Very pleasant to find that it is.
Congratulations Ruby, for speaking at the Oxford Union last month. This is an achievement that I can only dream of for myself, and which I have been itching to see you accomplish for months. Do not let yourself be deterred by the excess of negative comments in the comment section of that video. As you have said yourself, Government influence can be very difficult to detect, and it is not impossible that many of these criticisms come from bots, with no real person or face behind them (please forgive my own anonymity in this regard). I wish you the best of luck for the rest of your studies, and hope to see you regale us with your insights at the Oxford Union, once more in the near future!
@@AndNowIJustSitInSilence why would I believe critics before watching anything and making up my own mind? It's rather foolish to just believe some people I've never even met before seeing something with my own eyes.
Your vlogs have this unique vibe to me, like peeking into some other world, a life that is so interesting, outside of the usual constraints and worries. I am fascinated with what that is to do with, whether it is studying, reading. There’s a certain atmosphere to it that inspires me. I recognise it in myself. Well-done and thank you for such a unique channel and presentation
Ruby, you are like a modern Jane Austen. Your choice of words in your videos are so eloquent and intellectual, and thoughtful wiith elements of fun and happiness.
It's so nice to see you have some downtime with a wonderful friend after you've been working so hard. I always feel that days and times like these reinvigorate us so much 🥰 I love that someone bought you afternoon tea, what a lovely gesture.
The two of you form a dream team! I know of no other example online. You must realise that. (btw, as someone who has studied cognitive science, you should spend more time reading Ruby’s comment sections. Fascinating material.)
Hello Ruby🤍🫂 This video was so sweet and a true ode to life, I've teared up a little bit 'cause you're capable of narrate the most normal things in a thankful and warm way. Thank you. 💕
@@maneskinnnnn7190 Very true. I was thinking about it from the perspective of a STEM PhD (which took over my life and took away from a lot of my hobbies during that period of my life). You’re right though, creative writing and a PhD in the arts go much more hand and hand and would probably help each other in the long run.
you have to be able to do some critical thinking as a PhD. Not Ruby's cup of tea Ruby is too immature to do something like a PhD. Doing a PhD requires you to take criticism without resorting to lame excuses. Academia can be very tough and toxic and you really have to push through years of incredible hard work and harsh feedback. She cannot run to her Mommy and cry after every supervision in which her supervisor told her that she misuses every 6th word that she found in the dictionary.
@@AndNowIJustSitInSilencewhat I find quite interesting is how you find yourself able to judge her without knowing her in person. It’s a video. It’s the internet. And: if you don’t like things, why consume them?
This video was such a brilliant sunspot at the end of a busy week! I'm currently in my first semester of Uni, and I have far less free time than I originally thought. However, your videos always inspire me, Ruby! And Jade is so wonderful; that lady who bought you tea likely could see your friendship was something special. ❤ And your speech on purpose moved me immensely.
It’s amazing to know that you’re making a research about female literature. I’m studying female literature too, English and Russian female texts from comparative point of view. Writing master’s dissertation xxx
It’s nice to see you and Jade together again. There’s nothing like the warmth of a kindred spirit. My favourite sign off (used for friends) is TTFN from Winnie the Pooh.
What a delightfully charming pair, I am not at all surprised that someone bought you afternoon tea. People like to do things that the receiver will appreciate and your appreciation is written all over your faces. There was a music recital at the Exchange Theatre in Manchester a few years back. Outside was a Cheetham's School of Music student busking hoping to raise the £20 admission fee. A complete stranger, I was happy to buy her a ticket, just to see her face light up, five minutes before the start, and still £15 short. I hope that one day she will pass it on to some other person in need.
Oh Ruby the part where you talk about purpose ... so beautifully said ! I've been following both yours and Jade's content for years now and you both continue to inspire me as you're growing into wonderful human beings
I admire your friendship so much… I can’t wait to find a person with whom I can have such deep and inspiring talks with… love the vids always. Thank you ruby ❤
First of all, you possess a lot of philosophical wisdom at an early point in your life. You are on a good path so hold tight to your convictions, don’t allow others negativity to dissuade you on your journey. Enjoy these moments they will provide you some of the best memories in your life. May you always enjoy your journey Ruby.
wow- i myself am an Oxford student and have NO CLUE as to how you are managing to maintain a life (and TH-cam channel!) outside of studies. i feel totally subsumed in my work 😭
Such a lovely, pleasant time! These are the moments that truly fill your cup. Also, the paintings in the dining hall are amazing. I've been very interested in Elizabethan history as of late and the paintings caught my attention immediately.
16:38 Earl Grey is top tier, always lol😅😅 I discovered it thanks to Sir Patrick Stewart's character in Star Trek💀. Delicious, especially with a little bit of vanilla almond milk 💛💛🤘🏾
Oh my gosh Ruby, on your last video I requested to hear more about your Women in Print module and it made me SO unbelievably happy to hear you speak so much about it in this video!!! I loved your insights and it’s so inspiring to hear about the importance of translation and female writers! I’m so excited to dive into this more and to read your blog post!! I’m currently reading a book called “Women’s Labour and the History of the Book in Early Modern England” edited by Valerie Wayne and I’m learning so much about the women involved in making early printed books (collecting and sorting rags for paper, printing, publishing, selling, and more) and I just love hearing about all the contributions they have made. Thank you so much for giving an update and sharing your thoughts!! ❤️
Ruby, all of your videos are exceptional but this one was particularly lovely. Your speech about purpose is one of the best things I’ve heard and something I really needed while I’m currently stressed writing an essay! Loved this so much- thanks ❤
Thank you for sharing your vlog with us Ruby. Your friendship with Jade is so lovely. makes me miss my friends so much. Have a lovely rest of the week.
Ruby, I really like the romanticism and the classic way of letter writing in books, I like books such as Count of Monte Christo and the letters written by Lucy in Dracula, I just really admire how people used to write letters in the past. Do you have any book recommendations that have this style of writing? Thanks.
Been so many times to England and I've basically done everything that I want there, But there's one thing that I truly miss and that's a proper English Afternoon Tea - for me nothing beats that, simply heaven on earth.
hi ruby, i was wondering if you could make a video about or talk about in a video, how you view your oxford undergrad rejection now you're doing a master's there. lots and lots of love
Such a heart warming video...to have such a friendship to cherish and foster must be such bliss. What is the gorgeous store called that you went into at the end 18:40 ? Have magical day Ruby and Jade!💙
Loved watching you both together and made my day. I got to know Ruby’s TH-cam through unjaded Jade! So glad you’re both living your lives to the fullest xx
I've been reading more this year and I read a book recently that I kept thinking you could like/it reminded me of you. It is called After Story and it is about a mother and a daughter traveling around London visiting literary places
I love watching your videos Ruby. They help motivate me to continue with my projects including my school work. I wish you luck on your dream on becoming a published author. I also love how knowledgeable you are. I too wish to become a published author, working on a murder-mystery novel is difficult, but I believe in the end it will be worth it.
If you haven't already read it, I thoroughly recommend Daniel Hahn's "Catching Fire: A Translation Diary". It's literally a diary written alongside translating a book. It's a fascinating glimpse into the art of translation and the choices that must be made along the way.
Your videos are so beautiful, they really romanticise life, even the stressful bits! P.s in the best way possible you are so wonderfully British haha! Love from another British person x
