Hello my friend this is my first time visiting your channel and this was very informative and educational I work in retail and I wanted to see what others were doing around the world 🌎 I will take time out to view your past and current videos thank you 🙏🏾 and sending you love ❤from the US 🇺🇸
This is nice, I like your openness, I sell thrifted clothes and I've had issues with bookkeeping and records but am getting better I think, one thing I noticed like you put it the bigger the business gets the harder the record keeping or bookkeeping
I and my big bro have a bigger retail shop, bigger than this of yours with even cyber services and huge mpesa cash flow. I can say this was helpful especially when you have to leave someone to run for you the business!!
I run the same business and what I do with the receipts is I have excel spreadsheet on my phone so anytime I go to purchase I key in the name of the items and their prices. I get to access it anywhere I am 😂
At this point I haven't yet started receiving a reasonable 'wage' to my name, If I can call it that. But whatever I get efficiently pays my assistance and covers all expenditure.
Hi Cynthia. Thank you for the information...This is awesome. How do you price the items,do you check with other shops around to know how much they are selling,so that you don't overprice or underprice the goods?
Hello Juliet. Thank you for watching! I compare prices at the wholesale/distributors every time I shop. This is easy because these joints also double up as supermarket for non bulk shoppers. And since their retail prices are friendly too, I directly mimic their retail prices 😅, save for a few items like sugar and flour where I mostly add ksh 5 to 10 on top, to factor for transport.
One thing with buyers is they will always know where the prices are favourable. And you know my motto, this makes products move and is directly proportional to traffic. We both win.
I track all my daily sales by way of writing in a book. Then add the totals at closing. Profits, I calculate every time I replenish stock. So far it works because the shop is still a fairly small one

Make a clear video on how to record in books ... rather than making a general video on what you record in your book.
I run the same business and what I do with the receipts is I have excel spreadsheet on my phone so anytime I go to purchase I key in the name of the items and their prices.
I get to access it anywhere I am 😂
This is really great insight.
The physical receipts are definitely not easy to store!
Very simple and yet so informative! Thanks dear.
So if you re-invest the profit, then when do you pay yourself?
At this point I haven't yet started receiving a reasonable 'wage' to my name, If I can call it that.
