An outlaw band flees a posse and rides into Refuge, a small town where no one carries a gun, drinks, or swears. The town is actually Purgatory, and the peaceful inhabitants are all famous dead outlaws and criminals such as Doc Holiday and Wild Bill Hickok who must redeem themselves before gaining admittance to Heaven...or screw up and go to Hell. The residents must either defend themselves against the outlaws and risk eternal damnation... or die a second time.

I still love that movie. It wasn't a classic western and it was made for TV but it was well done and had some good moral advice.

How is a Sheriff an ex Villain. Doc Holiday and Wild Bill died as lawmen. It's not surprising you guys don't actually watch any of the movies this guy does. Youd be as confused as the rest of the people who actually saw the movie and then read this guys description.
So both the Quaid brothers Randy & Dennis have played versions of Doc Holiday ...

Great Movie! Original plot, great cast. Sam Shepherd was an excellent choice for the sheriff.
What's ironic is that the only reason Shepherd agreed to do the picture is because it had a European director (Uli Edel) and would bring different ideas to a western.

Bandit cowboys , interesting movie
I watched the suggestion and immediatly knew it would be this movie.
I so loved it when i watched it back then, must have seen it numerous times and even found it years later on dvd.
No clue where i left it, but i loved watching the summary again just like i loved watching the movie.
Just in case there is no such place as Purgatory where we get a second chance . Maybe we should all treat one another as if it is our last chance to do the right thing . Nothing to lose and alot to gain .. God bless all here

IMO this is one of the few Western genre which actually has a reason for existing. Great and original script finely directed and acted. Highly recommend for those who value story.

It really takes a genius to come out with that title. Glad I wasn't the only one who was like...uh what? I don't think this guy pays attention to anything. Guy also thinks a dentist is a M.D. hes kinda dumber than a box of rocks.

this guy thinks all doctors are MD...theres many doctors who have different initials. MD is Medical Doctor. There are also DO, PA, NP, MA, PHD...to mention only a couple

I liked the theme of this movie. TNT did a good job in this production.
Wow, this movie reminds me of one of Stephen King's short stories about a couple that get lost and travel down a foggy dirt road to wind up in a town with Elvis, The Big Bopper, and a bunch of other passed famous singers. Wonder if that was the inspiration for this film.

this couldn't be further than the truth. It was well done, but it wasn't Ambitious. A tv show in the 90s did the same thing basically. This movie looks like what would happen if the Twilight zone or Outer Limits took an episode and made it literally 30 minutes linger.
so basically the opposite of ambitious.
Moral of the story: Never put all your loot on one horse. That's it, isn't it? No? I'm going back to sleep now until the nurse brings my medication.

This is one of my favorites. Made back when good movies were more commonly made instead of the garbage that gets made more often than not today.
It's just a movie, kids. If you spend your life as an outlaw, you can't turn on a dime. There is momentum to overcome. If you want peace in eternity, remember that all of time is in eternity. So, be peaceful now. It doesn't happen overnight. It is a living thing that takes time to grow.

You ask, sorry for your bad, and Jesus of Nazareth The crucified and risen God the Son forgives. But you must be sorry and willing to change direction. That's what repent means, to change direction.
