    Semaglutide or tirzepatide is the active ingredient but labeled a bunch of brand names. Its like facial tissue is called kleenex tissue or target brand tissue or walmart brand tissue. It's still tissue. Not that different. Semaglutide is called ozempic or wegovy. Tirzepatide is called zepbound or mounjaro. Same thing can be said for birth control or allergy medicine or whatever it is. Companies rename them to appear different to get you to buy from them.

      Right but she wouldn't use the generic version of anything. She would use a name brand bc 1. She is a celebrity and 2. She was afraid of it. She would want something she had heard of. It's a comfort thing. I would bet it was Wygovy or however you spell it. My husband was on ozempic before the celebs got it. Bc it became the hot thing, he had to take the semiglutide in order to continue with his treatment. That meant instead of 1 shot a week, he had to take 1 shot a day. She wouldn't do 1 shot a day. None of them would. Anyway, he was told by his VA dr why there was a shortage and he had to go to the generic and my husband agreed. It didn't work as well with him but he stuck it out until the Wygovy came out and his dr said hey we can give you this now that there are 2 companies. So all these too skinny people, the Kardashians, taking ozempic literally took it away from veterans and normal people that needed it for true health reasons. Kelly Clarkson used whichever one for the true purpose it seems and probably didn't want to be lumped in with the rest of the asshats just on a fad. She needed the help. Hopefully she doesn't have the side effects I've heard of. Thankfully my husband did get those issues.

      The drugs shortage has always been there. Covid was bad. Now the war. Certain areas were these conflicts happen is where the manufacturers of drugs get the raw materials to make the drugs. I use to do the inventory management and ordering for a hospital pharmacy. Shopping around trying to find drugs that would normally cost $5 for a pack of 25 vials. Now with a shortage those vials are 4k a box or you can't even get it anymore. So it's not always the company. It's just the world we live in.

      It is just simply losing weight quickly. Losing weight quickly no matter how you do it ( semaglutide, gastric bypass, just not eating enough, fighting disease.....) may result in a more hollow face and an unhealthy amount of muscle loss. Those who are weight training properly while losing the weight ( however they are losing the weight) and making sure they are getting enough calories and nutrition / protein ( even in a deficit) do not have the unbalanced muscle loss.
      When you are of a certain age and you lose weight in any fashion you will lose volume in the face

I am also allowed to voice concern (and as a type 2 myself) of someone landing in the ER for lack of a GLP medication, as it is not a life saving drug for someone with diabetes, and regardless of drug shortages (which I have been a part of as well) blood sugar can be controlled in other ways. I genuinely am concerned if someone is landing in the ER. 9 months ago my endocrinologist said let’s use Ozempic. Yes! Has made a big difference in weight & my blood sugar levels are nearly normal. I have lost weight slowly and have no side effects whatsoever. I feel better. The thing about diabetes is that the older you get, the more likely you are to have very bad side effects like heart disease, neuropathy, blindness, kidney failure, etc. I want to live as long as I can with QUALITY of life! I don’t want amputations, which are also a side effect.

    Here are some things to consider about this medication being used "just" for weightloss:
    What many tend to forget or IGNORE is the vast majority of OVERweight people tend to have elevated blood sugar levels if not full-on Type 2 diabetes that needs to be addressed. This drug became popular because the SIDE EFFECT of treating the blood sugar issues was rapid weight loss! Now, even though there are SEVERAL medications that can be prescribed to reduce blood sugar levels, not all meds work for all people. Some may be allergic to certain ingredients in the "standard" medications or may have other medical conditions that prevent them from taking certain meds. So, remember, just because someone is rich and/or a celebritie doesn't mean they don't have legit medical issues. Also, don't assume people who are waiting on the Ozempic or Wegovy just arbitrarily refuse to use whatever else is available on the market!

There’s no “miracle drug” and you WILL suffer consequences from using these drugs long term if not even in the short term. Losing weight is not rocket science. There’s no shortcut and there’s nothing you can take and still maintain the diet that’s preventing you from losing weight today. You HAVE TO CHANGE the makeup of what you are putting in your body and it SUCKS. I know. I haven’t eaten ice-cream or candy or pizza or pasta or any of the foods I LOVED for all my life but I’m down nearly 90lbs in 6 months so I know first hand it can be done. You might be on these drugs and see positive results but you will plateau and you will damage your body eventually and it’s being proven by all the lawsuits being filed. I gained 80 lbs during my first pregnancy and breastfeeding. I was that weight for about 5 years, and I had another kid during that time. Then, I lost 60 lbs without any medication. Everyone thought I was starving myself. I just paid more attention to my caloric intake and shoveled a lot of gravel during 110° Arizona summer. It's possible! Sometime after that, I took Welbutrin for depression and anxiety, and it made me lose more weight.. That seemed nice at first, but it caused me so many problems with food aversion. I feel bad for people using these medications because I wouldn't wish those side effects on anyone.

The surgeries change your body chemically and biologically, it's more than food restriction, ppl don't realize. So anyway, SUPER SUPER grateful I had it done, I couldn't do it on my own and I was on a fast track to death. I have been taking Ozempic now for almost 4 years, I am a type 2 diabetic, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2004 and I probably had pre- diabetes since 2001, I didn’t recognize the symptoms at first and when I finally went to the doctor my A1C was over 10 so I was put on Metformin and Actos but with diet and exercise I was able to get my A1C down to under 6 within a year, but the damage was already done, and because of my job which was very stressful I was able to get to do much because of the long hours, I didn’t eat regularly which as a diabetic it is a must because your body probably is not producing enough insulin or too much insulin and then your probably insulin resistant at that point, so as the years had passed I eventually picked up weight because of not eating correctly and at this point your body goes into caveman mode because your brain thinks you’re starving your body so now everything you eat is stored as fat, anyways eventually I was put on Victoza, Trulicity which helped somewhat but I eventually developed CAD so my endocrinologist put me on a new drug called Ozempic which she said will help my body and also my heart and I also take a small dose of slow acting insulin (Lantus) to help with my own insulin, as for the Ozempic it helped bring my weight down because I wasn’t eating as much and I had retired from my job so now I was able literally exercise everyday whether it was walking or going to the gym, now fast forward to when the word hit the streets of a new wonder drug that helps you lose weight🤔Ozempic was in demand and I couldn’t get my medication so my numbers shot up again and what I couldn’t understand is all these celebrities had the money to lose weight the old fashioned way which is with exercise, they basically took the medication that people with a medical condition needed needed to help them so they can lose weight, the weight loss is a side effect because Ozempic helps suppress your appetite, so what happens when you get off it, guess you go back to your old ways unless you’ve learned how to control your appetite prior to going on Ozempic. This medication is for people who have health issues, not so some well off celebrity so they can lose weight because when they create demand it affects those who truly need it. Anyways I’m done venting😖

I stayed at roughly 120-123 for decades, except going just over 200lbs for both of my pregnancies. I was able to lose the 80 and 81lbs I gained with pregnancies within 12 weeks, BUT I hit menopause, and was involved in an airplane accident that fractured my spine at roughly the same time. I gained 55 lbs from being immobile, and I have had the absolute hardest time getting it off. I know other women who struggled with menopause, as well. Trulicity is my best guess. I work in health care and if she's saying that her blood sugars were out of control, this drug is to help patients who are diabetic and need to lose weight. Trulicity is a cousin of Ozempic. I've seen patients have great success with Trulicity in their weight loss efforts.

    • @LornaTedderAuthor
      @LornaTedderAuthor หลายเดือนก่อน +27

      I'm guessing Trulicity as well since it may cause thyroid cancer and I, too, had an existing thyroid issue I had to consider. I'm a diabetic on Met and Tru (ONLY thing that works), but I haven't been able to get the correct dose of Tru since last November bc of all the dieters wanting a quick way to drop pounds. The gastric issues are REAL. Months of nausea. It slows your digestive system waaaaay down so you don't eat. You feeling like Thanksgiving dinner just finished, all the time. After being on it for three years, I can barely eat one meal a day and it's hard to get over 800 calories a day. I've never really lost pounds, but maintaining muscle mass is incredibly difficult. There are safer ways to get weight off, especially once you realize the connection between blood sugar, insulin, and unwanted weight, but for those of us who depend on Tru to stay alive, the supply shortage is terrifying.

      Exactly, why won’t she just admit it? IMO she lost too much weight. As all seem to do on this drug. Don’t get me wrong I really like Kelly Clarkson and am not downing her. And why do folks act like they are of a higher class if they take Mounjoro or other brand of the drug other than Ozempic? They all are being used for something they weren’t made for!

      I’ve know friends that were overweight and having issues be put on metformin and they began to lose weight. I agree it might not be ozempic or one of the similar drugs that everyone jumps to assume. But people will assume regardless unless she actually tells them. And even then you’ll have those still saying it’s something else.

      @@snuff2023 yeah I have tried to get established on metformin three times and failed to tolerate it. I first tried it to treat my PCOS insulin resistance. I wasn't quite prediabetic yet but I just couldn't lose any weight even with months of strict low carb diet and intense exercise. Then the metformin upset my digestion so much I was just too sick to continue. Ended up losing lots of weight using phentermine instead. Then doctors wanted me to use metformin again for gestational diabetes during my pregnancies but had to ditch it for insulin as I couldn't deal with the side effects. The longest I put up with it was 6 weeks at a time and it was hell. My doctor really wants me to try ozempic to help get back to a healthy weight after the birth though but I'm really not sure about it.

      I work at a hospital with diabetic patients as a certified diabetes educator. Almost everyone can get ozempic now. At least in my large hospital system. Also, Ozempic is not necessary, it's just a tool to help manage blood sugar if lifestyle changes are not able to be made consistently. I've managed hundreds of patients who have been able to lower their blood sugar without continuing medications. Making certain changes to your diet can control your blood sugar. Medications aren't 100% necessary for most people. If there is a shortage of a medication that is used by someone, that's someone can almost always manage their blood sugar without medication by being very strict on their diet during the time while they're waiting for medication

    • @Looshfarmer

      I suppose it depends on how bad a diabetic she could become without intervention. It seems like moral tit for tat. Some people can’t help being diabetic at all. Type 1 . Some type 2 too. But a lot of diabetics can control, if not appear to reverse it through dietary control. If people are gonna play the morality card-then be prepared for a spotlight on their lifestyles too. Gatekeeping medication bc there isn’t enough is on Practitioners and Suppliers-NOT individuals who pay to address a costly long term health problem -that affects society too.Society needs to be more honest about whether it’s promoting Fat acceptance, or not.
