Revenue Information Campaign for PAYE Taxpayers

Revenue published a range of statistics on the 2024 PAYE Income Tax Returns filed to date this year. This video give all the details. These statistics show that, as at 29 January 2025, over 550,000 PAYE returns have already been processed in respect of the 2024 year of assessment. Revenue has also seen a continuation of the rising trend in the number of PAYE taxpayers using Revenue’s myAccount service to file their Income Tax Return during the first weeks of the new year.
Of the returns filed to date this year, over 80% (approximately 444,000) resulted in an overpayment of tax and refunds of over €400 million have already been issued.
Almost 12% (approximately 66,000) of the 2024 returns processed to date this year resulted in an underpayment of tax.
The statistics published on 4th February also show that a further €389 million may have been overpaid during 2024. Revenue has, therefore, launched a public information campaign to raise awareness among PAYE taxpayers about the range of tax credits and reliefs available and how they can be claimed.
