I don't think this skin should be controversial by representing a bad person but should be looked on as a sign of overcoming and working against the bad stuff as blizzard immediately started working to find a way to get through the unfortunate situation
I remeber when this whole thing happened. I started playing overwatch around June 2021. I remember me doing the challenge, the new blood comic and the whole allegations.
The many bad things and poorly excecuted decisions makes me less and less motivated to play OW2. The Horrible Launch Day, the Battle Pass system, how the gameplay feels more agressive than strategic, the 5v5 format, game modes which feels more empty than exciting, and of course the scrapping of their BIGGEST SELLING POINTS: The PvE Hero Mode! This game doesn't feel like it's a "sequel", it's more like an update of the original Overwatch game with a number 2 badly drawed WITH A CRAYON!
Also, the feeling I have about how Blizzard does this is like they have their love for the money rather than the love to give to their fanbase. Remember the "Don't you guys have phones" quote when the announcement of Diablo Immortal happened? Because, it was a game that NOBODY ASKED FOR!!
I get thay blizzard wanted to keep the distances from real life events and people after all these incidents, the thing that i cant swallow yet however is the fact that they removed even "commemorations" about people who did good to the game and made it and it's community grow, the thing abt removing jeph's name from the coffee or Roberto draghetti's commemoration plate on malevento doesnt make sense at all😕
Wait they removed Roberto Draghettie's commemoration but Hongyu (宏宇) in Lijiang Tower is still there. Removing the names of people who have passed doesn't make anysense. They still have Chacko's name on the midtown payload and he was the executive producer for ow2 before leaving. I understand removing the names of people alive so that way they can prevent another mecree fiasco.
I understand why people still call him McCree. Yeah there's a lot of nostalgia behind it and such, but I don't understand the people who are like "no, they shouldn't have changed it, it doesn't matter." and they say it purely out of spite, those are the people that get me. I think it does matter, even if not everyone knew the name belonged to a deplorable piece of trash. Granted I think Cole Cassidy is kinda lame, I think if they really wanted to keep the name Cole they coulda done Cole Ryder or something. Imo something akin to that would've been cool, even if a little bit generic. Edit: Upon googling the name Cole Ryder, I have found that to be the name of an adult film actor that died in 2008. Because of this I wish to double down on the name, as it reminds me of Brokeback Mountain.
True that they shouldn't call him Jessie McCree without knowing what that name means, but calling him McCree by itself without the first name isn't as big of an issue since anyone might have the last name and it does hold the full baggage that the full name carries. Just change the name to Cole McCree or Jessie Cassidy for a compromise.

HELLO
i thought we all agreed as a community that keeping the name of a sexual offender for one of the characters was a show of poor taste
I think it's fine to call him just McCree because we've know him by that name for so long, but calling him by the full name of Jessie McCree connects him right back to a dark and evil origin. A possible compromise is calling him Cole McCree or Jessie Cassidy, but in the end, we always refer to him as just McCree or Cassidy. Regardless of which name you call him by, that's your decision and only you can make that choice.
i think its fine if you just call him Cassidy honestly, its been years now, lets just be respectful 🤷🏽
@@rofecoxib mccree is just infinitely better. cassidy is super lame.
