100% Best insight possible ! I’ve been in the hobby for 10+ years with one big Aquarium. at this point, I’d love to have one or two more. But having 16 to start with would’ve been too much.
I'm glad nothing happened to her with the water and electricity all over the place! You might need to have some emergency drills so she knows the first steps before texting and waiting for you to go over there. :)
Team king and queen of DIY awesome video, Joey and T Keep up the great work both the gallery and the cove are coming along great sometimes things happen whether a tank cracks however it happened it happened there’s not much you can. Do you keep going I wouldn’t change anything. Both are looking great and coming along. Keep up the great work guys love the videos. See you on the next one.
Most of us dipped our toes in the shallow end of the hobby with a 10 gallon tank at best. It must be a bit overwhelming for Tamara to be running several hundred gallons right off the bat. It's good she's got a guy with a little expertise in the area! ;) (Tamara it happens, we've all broken a tank!)
You should add the words "I think" to the beginning of your comment... I started with a lot of tanks, never got burned out. And I have more now than I did them...
I would lose the center tanks and replace them with a sitting area where she can just relax and watch the fish. If I had standing room only I would find it annoying.
I was thinking when Joey first talked about making a gallery for Tamara that she's new to the hobby, she's gonna have way too much to do to keep up with all those tanks which is gonna burn her out before she actually gets to enjoy having some tanks. If you have to do maintenance everyday then it's just not fun, and having too many tanks to take care of is a job and not a hobby.
Oh man, sorry Tamara! I did the same thing as a kid but was lifting weights and tapped the corner of by tank with the bar. Water everywhere, thankfully it was just a 10 gallon. Cool to see you getting into the hobby tho. You are lucky to have all of Joey's supplies too! Joey, the gallery looks great btw, great to see you still are reinventing it always, it's fun to take inspiration from your projects.
yeah she started out with to many tanks. right now im enjoying my 1 150 gallon tank. every couple of months i rehome the fish back to the store and pick up news one to keep it fresh.. right now i have a angel fish community tank. might go discus. next but i want to read up on them more.
After the electric eel is gone from your 180 gal, I’d personally recommend you to house that tank with predatory African peacocks and haps or just a hap tank either way from like Lake Malawi and other lakes. I have a 180 gallon peacock and hap tank and I truly love it and never regret a single bit.
Joey keep all ur 180s! And make sure u fully scape the one in thr basement and the other one in the gallery once ur big tank is set up 🔥. I think personally u give Tamara a 120 that u used to have that would look perfect
Ha Joey another great video the main thing is Tamara has got you to help her out when she needs help and you were cool and calm about it tamara is grateful to have you in her life
Freeze dried Australian black worm, if you can find it, is one of the healthiest things you can feed most fish, and I think most love them even more than frozen bloodworm.
You could breed Franklin in the basement tank then use it for the fry to grow out. Tamara could do a betta sorority in huge tank and keep her males in a few tanks with dividers. The Nicaraguans could probably work in that tank if it were more like to 2000, meaning large rocks and less plant density and light. They would probably breed then they could go back to.the 2000. Just my thoughts.
I'm aching to see how you end up making that 17 footer. My dream is to have a 10 to 20 foot tank that takes up an entire wall when I retire. Really curious how you're gonna keep the center from bowing. Good luck!!!
Good thing you were there, Joey. I think I have one big tank like 120-180. Then, a small racking system for her Bettas. She might have get rid of few. But since she is new hobbies. Maybe less tanks or have her try other types filters like sponge, hob, cainisters, all different sumps you have built. Like sup goes over tank,or anyother sump you should in past.See which ones she prefers
Joey, "lightening" her load, and then debating bringing in another tank... I'm not a fish keeper, or a mathematician but I'm pretty sure that, that's the same load...
would love to you and her convert it to a more permanent home for the fish she has, seems like holding tanks at a store right now and too small long term for the inhabitants
Man after last night twitch stream; realize how long I’ve been subscribed. Wow 15 plus years, let’s see 540 gallon from 2 55s Plywood tank with birth of the 375 gallon In the queens cove, in wall see thru tank with sting rays (which birth a pup) with the another tank for buddy on the back wall with an impressive filtration system. All the memories in the basement.
Why don't you just add some dither fish to the Nicaraguan tank. That will bring them out and make them feel comfortable. Some wild-type Sailfin mollies or jumbo swordtails would be totally appropriate for a general biotype. I guess they ate the Guppies after all, LOL! Rainbow fish would also be a good call, and could totally make for great contrasting bright color.
brah...ive CLEARLY missed a lot of your videos,...like a LOT since Tamera has a WHOLE FISH ROOM!!! what?!! lol i rememeber when you guys had a challenge where it was her first aquascape! lol
In that small room I’d stack tanks on either long wall and put them all on one sump or filtration if possible -with maybe one or two exceptions. Then she’d have room to move around in there. Some sort of movable seating or work table could be doable
You do big tanks. She, assuming she is like most females, it might be better to stick to more bare bottom, possibly breeding projects. Breed those betta's. Have a large fancy guppy colony and poss a few bigger "grow out" or large project / show tanks. Let her putz, learn, grow and teach something unique and in line with her growing her own style and "brand" that fits her.

Dude if I was you I would just leave the 300 the way it is and put the piranha in the 20 foot long tank that like a mini ecosystem with a fast flowing water and do something else with the 700 because of the great foot print for most fish maybe you can make the 700 your community that you want that’s different from the other one I’ve been trying to come up with some new ideas is all keep up the hard work Joe
It would be a great project to create a large Ecosystem with Shrimp, Snails, Fish, something that is easy to care for and visually stimulating with a school of very small fish. Small Fish Big Tank.
Good lord, if it is her fish room then why are you trying to take over everything? Ask her if she is overwhelmed with how many tanks there are and how much work it is. Dont just decide to take tanks and fish away from her. And thank goodness she was ok and no issues with the electrical and water.
One thing I can say about stressful situation's and this certainly fit's the category. The King beat me to it and you are damn right about new aquarist taking care of too much . Keep it casual and probably do a few more " watch how I do it " , she is definitely someone who has a hard act to follow , and I have observed that she is worthy of your attention which makes you easily the luckiest of all ,🫅
the girl that broke the tank.... sub to make her feel better! haha www.youtube.com/@ADayWithT
her first "tank" kill ?
Dude replace the tanks in the middle of her room into a nice reef tank! That would be awesome!
Every tank is cloudy lol.

Yes, I think she is overloaded. As far as tanks go, when you’re just starting out it’s so easy to get into the just one more fish idea.
You need to get her some giant spring clamps to hold the hoses down. Using a brick is insane lol.

the amount of tetras you'll need to add to the new long tank is gonna be crazy. With those altums and geos you'll need a lot of dither fish.

Make her one large tank that fits exactly on that board in the middle. Sump underneath. Would be awesome.
Won't the eel shock the fish and rays in the tank you're moving it to? They electrocute fish to eat do they not?
yeh I though Tamara would be overwhelmed with all of those tanks. It’s a lot for a beginner. Like your gallery looks like a full time job. 😂
Right I keep like four small tanks over the past 7 years … not everyone needs 50 tanks
