Are you from the US? I'm just wondering because I've noticed that the most people who aren't into classical singing blending with heavy music happen to be from the States, but that might be just a random coincidence. Tarja has indeed one of the most powerful voices among the entire metal scene, but she definetely has a different trademark from the traditional rock sound and aesthetics that may not be for everyone.
