I love hearing about your life outside of fitness along side your fitness story! I think so many fitness influencers’ whole job is their fitness journey, which creates so many unrealistic expectations for people with 9-5s! Thank you for sharing and letting us in!

The long-awaited video/podcast! So worth it. Your account of injury to now is so interesting and motivating. Hearing the training approaches you took makes so much sense. Also the “pain doesn’t always mean damage” thing feels so tricky to figure out. It’s exactly what my PT said to me when I saw him about my ankle sprain and later about my shin pain and I’m just trusting, with time, you figure out where that line is. I’ve maybe been overly cautious because, as a novice, it’s hard to know when pain is a warning vs just a temporary minor response to getting back into things. But I pushed my running volume a bit last week (all easy running) and everything felt great so that really gave me a lot of confidence for getting back to (sensibly) improving instead of just managing. Thanks for sharing this, Lyss. Best of luck on your 50 miler!!

As always, I really appreciate your realistic and level approach to training and fitness, even in injury. This was incredibly helpful.

Listened to this one as a podcast and really enjoyed your mindset! Especially that no strength is wasted and you can always pivot to another focus when you have an injury.

Thank you for this one.. I'm slowly building up to Ironman, this is really helpful perspective... when I think I should be going faster, it's good to remember to build slow and do what you can to stay healthy! 👍

I'm dealing with a bad ankle sprain right now and feeling pretty demoralized, really nice to see how you dealt with your own injury!

This hit home for me! I got shin splits in 2019/2020 (as everyone in TLM know because I won't shut up about it lol), and it has been really hard on me mentally. So hard that I haven't been able to push through with a running program or treatment plan, because I've just given up. But giving up hasn't made me better, and starting and stopping hasn't made me better. Thank you for sharing this with us! It made me feel a little bit less alone. 🫶

hahahahah we do all be knowing. But knowing this was so many years ago for sure reach out to a PT if you haven't yet to see if there is something underlying if it is still reoccurring! But part of the treatment plans or return plan is simply leaning into it and being slow and patient!
