  • I am no expert, but I think the spindle unit looks legit for hobby use. Seems like the runout mostly derives from the tool holders. I bought the cheapest I could find.
    More measurements and test milling will come. Hope u enjoyed the video.

    I like the video bro…. I’m interested in that spindle head… glad you see the accuracy in the spindle… your tool holders not very good but the spindle is! Cool!

    heres a good tip for your draw bar weld a nut on the top then put another nut under it. You only need to thread it into the tool holder for a couple of turns then use the second loose nut to tighten it into the spindle

      Thanks for the tip! That was a really good idea. To bad I sold my stick welder then. :(
      I am a total novis when it comes to machining so I realy apreciate tips like that.
      I found some conical shaped m12 wheel nuts for cars for about 1 usd each. Think I will use one of those to get it centered up better.
      I am putting together a small lathe at the moment, so the plan is to turn a proper draw bar in the future. :)

    Hello, I wonder if this BT30 spindle can be used on PM-940M milling machine or Grizzy Mills? Thank you.

    On one of the videos I see a spindle runout of 0.01mm.Have you checked the tool without the compression spring and cutter, only the ER32 cone itself?

    I have the same spindle on my cnc machine. Come and see videos what I do to minimise this runout. Now I have 0.02mm runout on the tool.

      On video it is terrible. Even 0.02mm is terrible. It should be less than 0.005mm on such short distance. But toolholder has to be good quality and collet has to be AAA precision class. On 250mm distance 0.02mm would be acceptable.

    i think your collets are the problem if u got chinese one too, check the runout in the cone of the tool holder.
    point it out to me when I'm wrong :D

    Very nice we have a BT 30 spindle in our mill so nice to see your holders, thank you for sharing them. Your spindle has the square slotted keys ours just used two ground cap screws, so nice to see yours.

      Thank you for watching. I am a total novis when it comes to machining and machine stuff. I have been watching your spindle series. Pure gold content in my opinion, especialy for a beginner like me.

    Nice video! How much does it weighs?

    you should shove the tool in then screw the draw bar and not let the draw bar draw the tool by screwing it ... this is why you are getting the run out. Don't be afraid. Just like you tap the B16 drill chuck on a Morse taper, however here do not tap it with anything, just shove it firmly with your hand then use the screw to tighten it .. this should take the run out

    I wonder if this can be converted to a 5c head stock? The tooling is a little pricey for me I think I would go with an r8 spindle. Thanks for sharing looks like a very nice build.

      R8 is the worst , far lass contact compared with MT5 or iso 30/40/50 or BT30/40/50

    I guess the Spindel could be the reason of the bad runout.
    Got some iso 20 holders cheap as hell but with a runout close to 0

    These aliexpress spindles are good just for the iron and then rebuild

      A true fact.
      And even the iron has to be worked out.

    Trevligt, funderar på att köpa en kinesisk bt30 spindel till min Hermle fräs då 900 euro för ett beggat fräshuvud på ebay är alldeles för dyrt. Känns tryggare att beställa en spindel nu👍

    I am shore until now you know it, but the way you put them together has to be in a special way. It has to say Click to be in place and first at that time you put in the bit inside and then you turn it and then you can indicate it. Sorry my English is bad and I don't remember what is the name ( oh Er or IR something has to click in place ) I think until now you know it....

    • @thechipwelder1253
      @thechipwelder1253  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for that tip! Is this what you mean? Example: 1. put in 8 mm collet, so it says click. 2. Insert 8mm endmill. 3. tighten. If that is the case, then I knew it, but someone that dont know it might read this and get some help out from that. Thank you very much for commenting.:)

    • @mamoshimamoshian9078
      @mamoshimamoshian9078 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Collect has to go first side ways and then you have to push it until it clicks inside the head screw , and then 2- put the head on the body and start to turn ( install the head on the body) and then at that point before the holl is too little put your endmill in, and then fasten it. Only at that time one can make shore that everything is in its right place and then indicate it. I hope that helps, but you know if you look at the youtube you find a couple of guys who didn't know this even thou they have many video's about machining, I myself made the same mistake and tout at first that there was something wrong with my perches : ).Good luck brother, I hope that I will see many video¨'s from you in future...

      Shore Brother Yes sorry my English is getting worse and worse. I really need to practice, the other problem is I have been working with computers for many years and I write really quick so what is in my mind has to get on the keyboard as quickly as I think it :) that is no way to explain anything. But I hope it helped a bet, as long as you know how to set the collect correctly, and it is not because it is broken or machined wrongly you are OK . GOOD LUCK Brother
