    That they are introducing IC1 trains here and that these are also still running Amsterdam-Berlin is indeed funny, and their AC issues are indeed notorious, but in my opinion they are a major improvement over the DSB trains that ran until now just due to the capacity they offer.

    • @ncard00
      @ncard00 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but their online ticket portal for these trains is full of issues. You cannot see that a departure on your selected class is sold out, until you've made 2-3 clicks. Many of the departures just outright fail to continue, when you try to purchase tickets for them. And you can, allegedly, book 6 months in advanced, from today till 28. december, which you can choose, but then it just says error, and you can actually only book until 9. december. On top of that, these new coaches were supposed to give way more capacity, but most of the trips during the sommerperiod, where the booking demand has been an issue, are already sold out, again, and every single train is always delayed, sometimes by 30 min or more. This just shows why the DSB need competition to improve their services, cause right now it's just crazy bad, granted this is by far their most profitable route, so their planned 500 seats every hour in each direction service on this route cannot come soon enough, but is supposed to be delayed as much as till 2030...

      @@ncard00 The Dec 9 deadline might be a German constraint, as this is the day of the annual large timetable change. Two out of the four routes leaving Hamburg northwards (Hamburg-Lübeck and Hamburg-Kaltenkirchen) will be undergoing quite a lot of construction in the next two years. Most likely it has not yet been decided where exactly to fit in the Hamburg-Copenhagen IC.
      Furthermore, Hamburg Hbf and the tracks between Hamburg and Elmshorn are badly lacking capacity, so there is exactly no margin for problems, thus also the German part is very difficult to operate on

    I love the IC1 trains, they disappear step by step unfortunately. Of course a broken AC is annoying but I like the generous interior design. And it feels more like travelling in a classic train.

      I totally agree! The ICE is too much trying to be like an airplane. Although I don’t like the first class seats in the IC. They are not very comfortable for long trips.

      @@scrambaba I don't know a single aspect of IC1 cars, that poses as an advantage over new ICEs. They are louder, slower and have more malfunctions than their replacements. The only downside of new trains is the classification of Twindexx sets as InterCity...

      @@powgames I have been in several ICEs in which the AC has malfunctioned but never an IC. Marginally slower, but so what? Louder, perhaps marginally but again no significance. At one time the seats were more comfortable in IC but this is changing as DB deupholsters their train seats. As the commenter points out the IC still seems like a classic train, not trying to be an airplane on the ground. What are Twindexx sets? Do you mean the so-called IC2? Now those seriously suck…

    • @powgames
      @powgames 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @scrambaba What does "trying to be an airplane" even mean? And from 200 to 300 is not "marginal". Btw, what you've experienced does not match with what many others have. Especially new models have more consitently working ACs. And yes, i specified Twindexx, because Stadler Kiss IC2 are significantly better in every aspect except capacity maybe.

    • @scrambaba
      @scrambaba 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@powgames 300 is completely unnecessary for probably 95% of passengers‘ needs. If you enjoy riding the train you will agree that der Weg ist das Ziel and in fact one neither needs nor wants to get wherever at 300 instead of 200 kph. I don‘t know about twindexx vs Stadler, I bet all IC 2 are suitable for the regional context only. Many rail fans seem to have internalized the corporate worldview of DB as their own. Never understood how DB‘s sustained assault on a once- proud rail service could be embraced by anybody that loves rail travel…

    I took this train just last Sunday, the 05:07 departure from Copenhagen. It was severely delayed for 40 minutes when departing from Padborg, and I missed my connecting train to ICE to Koln right in front of my eyes. When this train arrived on platform 11, just across this train, my next ICE train departed from platform 12. 😑
    I slept most of the time during the ride, but I noticed that the train stopped for quite a long time midway after Odense. And at some point, I saw some track works on the side of the rail. And from this video, I just realized it was only a single track on the way toward Padborg. No wonder it got severely delayed.
    And I just knew that this trainset is actually a new trainset. And there were very few passengers as well. I think their ticketing system was not updated to the new capacity when I bought my ticket, since the ticket was almost sold out at that time for my schedule. And I should have chosen the compartment seat instead. It looked really fancy. Hahaha
    I will definitely ride this train again going to Copenhagen. 1000KM++ train from Copenhagen to Brussels is definitely a fun experience (despite the drama of the delay lol)

    Yeah the IC1 carriages are as of right now only planned to be in service until december 2024. DSB finally got their first Talgo 230 train out of the initial 8 consists (out of a total expanded order of 16) delivered earlier this month, and the plan as far as I know is to start using them on a domestic line from Copenhagen to Fredericia in August to get all the kinks ironed out and staff trained before transferring to the Hamburg service at the timetable change in December.
    By the way, one year after that, in December 2025, DSB intends to start using these Talgo trains on a once per day service from Copenhagen all the way to Amsterdam. A brand new route which will take 9.5 hours to complete (Supposedly 7.5 hours once the Fehmarn Belt Fixed link is completed). It's made possible since the Czech Railways, Ceske Drahy will be extending their Prague-Hamburg train to Copenhagen at the same timetable change and replace one of DSB's services, therefore allowing DSB to allocate one of their sets to this new route.
    Copenhagen might end up seeing a LOT of new long distance trains in the coming years Of course Prague and Amsterdam like I just mentioned, but DSB and SJ are also both looking at establishing a service from Copenhagen to Oslo with supposedly 4 trains a day planned for now (3 by SJ with Alstom Avelia Stream EMU's and 1 by DSB with Talgo 230). Additionally DB expanded their own order of ICE-L trains by Talgo (which are basically identical to DSB's apart from having a Dining car which DSB's won't) to 79 consists and in doing so announced they also intend on running trains to Copenhagen. The 2 kinds of services that immediately jump to mind are to Berlin and to Cologne. Berlin because the line to there from 2025 onwards requires all non regional trains to go 230, whereas DSB's locomotives can only go 200. And Cologne because that is already a slow route by ICE standards and because it's popular for business travel and since Cologne is a major railway hub.
    And to top it all of I havent even mentioned open access operators. The Dutch company GoVolta also plans to launch a Copenhagen to Amsterdam train in 2025. And Snälltåget will also start running daytime trains from Malmö via Copenhagen South to Hamburg in 2025 along with domestic open access services to Aarhus in 2027 when the line to there is electrified. SJ will likely do the same as they've been eyeing Open access running on Danish soil for several years.

    I really like the IC3-Trains, in my opinion they are very comfortable, sound nice and have excellent ride quality for a diesel powered train. But I agree that it is nonsense to run diesel powered trains on this long journey, where there is caternary everywhere.
    So these 'new' trains are a good alternative and are also boosting passenger capacity. The IC1-cars consist of a lot of different types, but most of them I think are very comfortable and cosy. Everytime I get the chance to take these cars I enjoy it.
    What I can not understand is the fact, that the door control does not work. When pulled by a class 101 locomotive, these cars can definitely be controlled to allow opening of the doors on just one side. And I think there must be a solution to make this feature work together with the Vectron...

The rubber front allowed passengers to walk freely between the sets when coupled together, and DSB didn't have to have 3 or 5 conductors for a train with multiple trainsets.
