@@alexeigonzalez7798 thanks man I appreciate it! I use always the maximum possible length. Depending on the spot and rod length between 3,80 and 4,20 m. With RG Guides you are not allowed to take the knot on the spool.
As far as the sudden wind goes I only have the experience from Croatia. When clouds appear over the mountains and it rains on the top, cold air will fall down the slopes and this crazy wind called Bura starts in minutes. So maybe also check the forecast for a few km farther from the coast. Nice to see you catch some delicious bonito 🤘
Thanks mate - that's good to have an eye on! This local weather phenomenons are really crazy - always bad when they weather comes from behind, and we look always to the sea! 🤦♂️😅
Hello max, in first of all congratulations for your videos and for your captures! I also own a Sonio 93 M, I wanted to ask you your impressions regarding its use compared to the Sonio 100 M, does it seem more powerful? I am referring above all to the jigs. Thanks for your time and congratulations again!
Hi Andrea, happy to hear that you like the video! Regarding Sonio: My impressions of 93 M is that it's more stiff in the tip compared to 100 M. 93 M works well with jigs 65 g and above. Working a 40 g back weighted jig was also possible but not my preference. In my opinion 93 M is not designed as a pure jigging rod having it's strength in heavy spinning (lure manipulation more easy due to it shorter length). The overall power is a bit higher compared to 100 M but not a lot) 100 M has it's strength in manipulating jigs. Especially jigs below 60g have better action. If I have to choose a pure jigging rod up to max 100g I would choose 100 M RG. Sweet point of jigs for 100 M is ~ 70g - so much fun!
@@maxdocken thanks, and any tips on how to find deep water from apps or something without the need to go on the spot to check. I fish and live on a small island Gozo, Malta. Tight Lines 💪
@@matt14law yes sure. Use Navionics and google maps. Google maps is a good tool, when you don't see the bottom it's usually sure more then 10 m. Navionics gives you just an impression, it's not as detailed as we would need it. Make your selections then try and see the actual structure.
Posti meravigliosi. Come sempre bravissimo Max , è capitato anche a me di trovare una giornata meravigliosa e poi il tempo è cambiato improvvisamente, le previsioni a volte vengono disattese da situazioni locali non prevedibili. Thanks bro, I use the Garmin GPS Map 66s. It's very nice big plus you can download Garmins Satellite Images to the map. If you haven't please subscribe bro! 🤝 Tight lines Max
In Greek microclimate , happen sudden rapid changes like the storm you met , which cannot catch the apps (that are usual faulty in forcasts)...so get always jacket in bag...😂
I think you can only master it with experience. Yes always have a light windbreaker jacket with me! Exposed out in the wild can be very dangerous, especially when surrounded by sea like Greece is.
You are making great videos, nice to watch. How do you like sonio 93m? I have sonio 100m for 3 years now and I love it. I was reading that sonio 93m is even better. Did you manage to test sonio 100m yourself and if so would you replace it with 93?
Thanks man - if you like please subscribe! 🤩🤝 I have both rods and love them! Regarding the two Sonios I will upload a review but here is how I see the rods: Sonio 100 M is more for jigs especially for light jigs ~ 40 - 60g it's perfect because of the sensitivity tip. Sonio 93 M is more for heavy Spinning cause of the shorter length hardbaits and silicones are easier to manipulate. The tip of 93 M is more stiff compared to 100 M so light jigs doesn't work as easy as on 100 M. Still I use my 93 M also with jigs but mainly with 80 g + jigs. It works fine too but animation is more technical. The advantage is coming into play also when fishing deeper waters as well as facing currents.
Danke dir! Genau im Süden, allerdings war die Tiefe nicht groß - maximal 15 m deshalb habe ich auch mit einem 65g Jig gefischt und der Sonio! Viele Grüße Max
Great movie, Max! A question for you : I fish the Zenaq Sonio 93M RG as well. Fantastic rod with many uses. I noticed however that the knot connecting the leader to the braid gets damaged easily when it hits the lower RG guide during casting. I use either the PR or the FG knot with the risutto finish. I usually have the knot halfway between the reel and lowest guide at the start of the cast. The leader I mostly use is 30lbs/0,47mm. Do you experience the same problem? If not, what thickness of FC leader do you use and in what position is the knot at the start of the cast?
Hi Jef, thanks for your comment! I usually fish 40lbs leader and sometimes 35 lbs. I like to have my leader as long as possible, as you describe it's between reel and first guide, when I'm casting. I haven't experienced any damage - often I fish it for a couple of days in a row without any problems. I tie a very slim but strong FG-Knot that passes easily through RG-Guides. I'm planing to make a video soon where I show how I tie it but for a quick solution I can sent you some pictures to see how I do it. Please contact me on Insta or Facebook (Max Docken). Nice video mate 💪🎣😍great fishing... I advise you add an assist hook on the black minnow or any soft lure... Its so difficult to get good bites, specially from shore, i dont risk casting those lures with the single original hook... Also each time u miss a bite the lure is destroyed which is not a good business for ur pocket😅
I like especially the bit/ pocket relation - true words man! 🤣 I was fishing silicones with assist as well - you see it at the end when I catch the small Grouper! But look which hook caught the fish... 🙈 you never do it right! Bit yes I will equip all of them and probably also with a smaller compared to this one. Thanks man! 🙏
