  • The program begins with a recitation of Surat al-Kahf by Qari Senan Hafez.
Muhammad Ali's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is the only one among thousands that does NOT lie on the sidewalk. Instead, it is on the wall - the only name raised above all others. It was the only way Ali would agree to the honor. He said: "I bear the name of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, and it is impossible that I allow people to trample over his name.”
What a powerful statement by the greatest (boxer) about the greatest (of creation) ﷺ! You can’t help but think of the verse in which Allah says to the Prophet ﷺ, “And We RAISED your reputation / renown / remembrance for you.” (94:4)
Not only did he represent the name Muhammad with the utmost honor and respect, Muhammad Ali stood for what the name stood for. He walked the walk. He lived and exemplified Prophetic character and values. He was a messenger of the Messenger ﷺ.
How so? That’s exactly what Sh. Ubaydullah Evans will be covering in this session of Friday Gems…
We will remember and reflect on Muhammad Ali’s legacy. We will (a) look at notable moments in his life + the numerous obstacles and opposition he faced, (b) what we can learn and apply in the context of the challenges we face today, in America and abroad, and (c) how you can leave your own legacy and impact that will remain for generations to come, insha’Allah.
