    I’ve got a Heritage H-535 that I love. I bonded with it as soon as I picked it up and played.

      @@Minor7thb5It’s a great all around guitar, I love mine. Since I retired I’ve been heavy into jazz, and my 575 really does fit the bill. Love your channel and the way you play, I’m always looking to learn. I did just purchase a nice jazz box that I couldn’t pass up, it’s a little rare gem, and the price was right. It’s a Gibson es-775 and it should be here in a few days. Thanks for sharing your insights.

    Can't agree more!
    Another advantage of the tele is that it's very compact and very robust and also very reparable. This means you're basically OK at lugging it in a half-decent gig bag that won't take much space or weight, suitable for cheap/free/weird gigs.
    I'm certainly not bringing my 335 or my John Scofield Signatute Ibanez everywhere: these have got their very protective but heavy hard cases, and are much probable target for being stolen.

    i only have a tele right now. the neck pickup is really nice for RnB tone. i eventually want to get an archtop... i think if you have a tele and an archtop that covers a lot!

    Steve Howe has been my main guitar guru since the 70's and I'd love to be able to afford an ES 175, but I really prefer shredder guitars like Jackson and Ibanez. Go figure!!!! Love your playing btw - interesting but calming.

  • @bunkerman99

    I tried guessing beforehand what 3 you would pick. I got the Tele right BUT I thought for sure you would go Charlie Christian on us with an ES 125, 150, 300 etc along that line but that says more about me bc I like how CC did it and then I thought the third one would be a big Archtop; a copy of the real D'Angelico, L5, Super 400 kind of thing. I have an Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe from '59 or '60 that I like a lot but I want to spec out a Tele with a Lollar CC in the neck and good Acoustic Jazz Box for my 3. Anyway Cheers. Enjoyed the video as always.

    What strings do you have on the semi hollow and also what plectrum? I’m struggling to find a good pick that gives that warm jazz tone when comping.

    Thanks for the top 3 options. Is the Telecaster strung with flatwound strings? If you can find someone expert enough to set up a decent cheap guitar with the right strings action relief etc YES it will punch way above it price range. Very good advice thank you.

      Yes my telecaster is strung with Thomastik 12s or 13s.

    Ted Nugent told me he likes the Byrdland guitars beca7se of their carved tops. He lost 3 or 4 in a gear trailer fire. The ones he had left are pretty old. Gibson builds some with custom pickups now but I doub5 they have carved tops like the originals did.

    Very interesting. I expected the Gibson ES-175 to be the best jazz guitar, because it is a typical jazz guitar. But the sound from this guitar is not really very good (muffled sound) and paradoxically the best jazz sound is a full body guitar. Unexpected :)

    The problem I have with Telecasters is I don’t like the bridge. Other than that I love a tele.

    • @hankhill7494
      @hankhill7494 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The bridge is part of what makes that shimmer or twang (depending on the pick-up position). The Tele bridge is what makes a Tele so unique yet so versatile at the same time. Yeah the old ashtray bridges aren't as comfortable for your right hand to rest on but you can find more comfortable variations of it that other companies make as replacements. The Tele is the best all-round electric guitar there is.

    Have you ever tried a Jazzmaster?

    • @ParanoidGoblinoid
      @ParanoidGoblinoid ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I just returned a gorgeous Squier 50th Anniversary Gold Edition Jazzmaster (white) to the store a week ago, after playing it for a week. I really loved the guitar in principle, and already had mods in mind. But the Fender narrow nut and thick neck gave me forearm pain. I love the look of ES-335s, but the ergonomics don’t suit me. I’ll stick with my Eastman AR371-2 16” laminate archtop (ES-175 copy), until I can find a comparable guitar (Hagstrom HL550 or Comins GSC-16?) with a Venetian cutaway. I typically sit like a classical guitarist, regardless of what I’m playing. I’ve got a ton of fuzz pedals for when I want to make some obnoxious noise, and they play fine with the Eastman.
