  • Beautiful first proper sail of the season, from Falmouth to Polkerris, and dolphins came to play on the bow to welcome me back. Plus, the start of a new game, "How accurate is the Met Office Inshore Forcast". Not a great start for them I have to say.

Great to see you back and out, what’s the plan for this season?
How are you getting the wind displays in navionics?

Hi Richie, thanks, it’s great to be out and about again. I’m having a break from big adventures this summer and traveling round from festival to festival this season. Currently at Dartford Music Festival. It’s nice to not have the pressure of having to move every day.
The wind displays are via an app called NMEAremote and a little box of tricks that broadcasts my NMEA data over the boat Wi-Fi. Also get depth displayed directly in navionics and AIS displayed in navionics via an app called Boat Beacon. One of the best and simplest upgrades I have made to be honest.

@@sailingonadream many thanks just installed the PredictWind hub thingy so should work with your aps. All the NMEA is broadcasting. Festivals sounds like a good run. Safe watch

What size is your headsail ? Looks 110%? I recently got a brand new heady at a very good price, not originally made for my boat, and it’s 110% but higher cut than yours. Its seems ok but I am used to a bigger 130% furling genoa. Your boat with the current heady seems to perform well, hoping mine will in decent breezes with the smaller sail.

Yes it’s 110% and she sails really well. When I balance the sails properly she will stay on a heading without the autopilot on as long as the seas aren’t too big which is really handy. I have a cruising chute as well for light winds, but it’s such a faff to get up I don’t use it often.

@@sailingonadream thanks for that confirmation. I was interested because you have put some good miles on the heady and coped well in a variety of conditions. As a primarily solo sailor, I have been thinking this might a perfect size for me as I am getting on a bit. Initial trials indicate this is likely but I await a decent 12-20 kt day to put it to test. Enjoy your new seasons sailing. I’ll be watching with interest. Best.
