Wow I can't wait for Dr Lori to appraise the pins I was so lucky to find. I feel like I was born for this job . Should have started years ago. I spent 139 to win a 14.6 pound lot of jewelry. But it had to be one person. This is a life changing event for me and now I can support my self better than ever. Thousands in value all I scored and possibly a few loose diamonds but no diamond tester. I need to go buy the Dr Lori loop and a diamond tester. Will have to get a Presidium Gemstone tester soon as I have alot of stones and 14 k stamped pin and some unstamped. A earring collection worth 500 $ buy my estimate. I'm shocked at what my eyes bought. So many nice pearl necklaces and some bad ones too lol ranging in colors. This is actually shocking 😲 🎉😊
Every time I watch you Dr.Lori when ur doing costume jewelry I kick myself in the behind. Several years ago I sold mine n some of my moms costume jewelry to a person. Fortunately, I never sell or give to the thrift stores any of my costume jewelry I have collected for the last 50 years. Other objects I have given away and regret it but like Dr Lori said we just need to move on and try to do better in the future with our finds.
Nice to know that you are proficient with jewellery cuz I have a lot of jewellery that is vintage. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve heard similar stories from others over the years. Hope you can make it to one of my events. We have a lot fun!
I was wondering, particularly when pieces are older and I assume have a higher chance of containing toxic metals like lead and cadmium...I thought I heard you mention the glass stone in the first brooch containing lead plus I saw in another video you valued a black and silver horse brooch containing lead at $125. Does this issue affect value at all because if it deters people wanting to wear it if they're aware of this, won't it lose value (eg reduced market?) and should they even wear such pieces that sit on the skin? What are your views on the ethics regarding this? Is it really worth it or perhaps at the least it has value when encased for display rather than worn? Are there risks long term when worn - could inhalation, ingestion (eg touching food after handling the jewellery) or dermal absorption be a problem?
It really depends on the piece, there isn’t one answer that fits all. As far as health issues, I have a Ph.D. in art history. I’m not a medical doctor or scientist so I can’t offer expertise on health risks.
Hi Lori! I love all your videos! I am a bit confused on the costume jewelry values and sterling silver values. I have bought beautiful sterling pins for example on ebay just last month. I paid $8 for 4 pins, all solid sterling silver with one just covered in crystals. I went back on Ebay and found each pin is selling separately for $30 and one designer pin price at $38 but these are all solid sterling silver pins. I do have a good eye for antiques and most any object I look at...not sure why. I have lots of costume pieces to sell but I have never seen costume jewelry sell for much on ebay unless it has a designer name on it. Where is the best place to sell our jewelry whether sterling or costume? Ebay does not seem consistent in how sellers are pricing items...all over the board.
You shouldn’t use eEbay and other auction sites as price guides. Read why at www.drloriv.com/Blog/ID/4099/Dont-Use-eBay-as-a-Price-Guide. Many use my online appraisal reports since they include places where similar items have sold.
Opposite of your video a young lady ( fresh out of high school was having a yard sale. I pulled over bought a pair of beautiful Raybans They were .50 cents. I told her today was her lucky day. I gave her two bucks and told her up everything or else she’ll be sitting there all day for $5 ....I should have been more generous.
I visit yard sales and tell the host what is valuable. I don't buy anything, just tell them that they should re-price their stuff or take in back in the house since a yard sale is not the best place to sell good stuff. Thanks for sharing your story.
I have so much costume and better quality jewelry I love to wear my jewelry but I’m afraid that the pins are falling off the back and I will lose the pin. How do I replace the findings on costume jewelry. Many pieces have none gold or silver forms but gemstones. Do you ever come to the Chicago area? Would love to meet you.

Yes, your pieces can have value. I can help, but just need to see them. Can you send me pics? Show me during a video call? Many factors determine value so I have to verify what you really have.
@@DrLoriV I would love to, but, I have to save some money to do that. How much Canadian dollars would it cost for a half hour, and an hour? The way I see it, $250 is $250, no matter where you are. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (๑ت๑)ノ

It's a video that you have put on the internet that tells us how to sell the jewellery or where to sell the jewellery after we get it appraised by you that's my interest because I don't want to put everything on ebay. and esty seems sketchy. One reason I saved the ladder it's because I'll see something on esty for instance I have a stamp and it sells for 5000 on e s t y and you can find the same stamp on eBay for $50 So that's sure ruins the sale for anyone who put stuff on esty. Then say if I got something Praise by you and it's $100 so I go try to sell it and the same item is on eBay for $10 like what gives how am I going to get my money's worth after I get your appraisal I am confused to find out where is the best place place where you're not going to get scammed Royally

@@nicolep5574 Thanks for watching. Hope to see you at an event :)
I have corol beaded necklace
Are you asking for an appraisal? If so, I can help :)
Navy looks good on you..
Thanks!
You may place a value on these items, but there is no where to sell them is there?
My appraisal values are based on where I’ve seen similar pieces actually sale at those values.
I'd like to know how you get the money she values them at???
Good question. My values are based on real actual sales. I outlined tips to sell on my website.

@@bignugzz1721 People use my appraisals all the time to help them sell their pieces for top dollar. I offer selling tips too on my website.
It's a video that you have put on the internet that tells us how to sell the jewellery or where to sell the jewellery after we get it appraised by you that's my interest because I don't want to put everything on ebay. and esty seems sketchy.
One reason I saved the ladder it's because I'll see something on esty for instance I have a stamp and it sells for 5000 on e s t y and you can find the same stamp on eBay for $50
So that's sure ruins the sale for anyone who put stuff on esty.
Then say if I got something Praise by you and it's $100 so I go try to sell it and the same item is on eBay for $10 like what gives how am I going to get my money's worth after I get your appraisal I am confused to find out where is the best place place where you're not going to get scammed Royally
eBay is not always the best place to sell. My online appraisal reports show you a location where a similar piece sold and for how much.
Why are you getting better looking with age? That's not supposed to happen you know LOL
