    I kind of went through a similar journey. My first Leica has been an M8 and I would never sell it. I then bought an M10 for more flexibility in low light situations. I also love it and intend to keep it but I just realised that it is quite a different camera. The sensor is one reason. I love the zeiss 35 on the M10 because it helps to bring the sensor to live with its 3d rendering.

    I am by no means a professional photographer. I’m merely a hobbyist that has been taking mediocre images for a long time and when I finally got a Leica M2 I fell in love with the Leica ecosystem but because of all the headaches and sunk costs in film, recently wanted to get a digital M to keep the rangefinder experience but avoid film.
    I was debating between a Leica m9 or m10. For sure the m10 has a lot of modern features that are incredible to have like a higher dynamic range and high iso performance and higher megapixel, but It was also double the price, and I realized that all the benefits that the M10 offers over the M9 are features that any other camera can also offer. Nothing about the M10 features are unique to the M10, but all of the M9 features are unique to the M9 like ccd sensor and the more film like body. And in the end I realized all I wanted was to have a digital rangefinder for normal everyday usage. I didn’t need to have a professional grade latest tech camera since I don’t work as a photographer and the M9 still offers pro quality images so it was a no brainer.

    Love it Marcus. Love my Q2 but the versatility of interchangeable lenses with the M10 has me thinking...

    • @MarcusLloyd
      @MarcusLloyd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tuff one there bro. Really comes down to what focal length you will use on the m10. If you’re just going to shoot 28 and 35 then q2 might be plenty. Manual focusing would be the only difference

    • @dinodemopoulos3336
      @dinodemopoulos3336 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow Marcus fantastic photos,Yes lov your way of introducing on TH-cam not having to ring that bell or something, I see all your videos and your work is really nice Not so much editing, Most people spend an whole day or more which is ok if you’re into that, But the images that came out of the m10 wow yes maybe wonder awhile M10 Leica q2 🤔🤔Stay safe and happy travels

    • @MarcusLloyd
      @MarcusLloyd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Leonard! Both cameras will produce the same look just depends if you went autofocus or manual focus and rangefinder feel. I actually realized I need the rangefinder to feel more connected to my work. The Q is amazing and I will always have it but it’s just so easy

    Needed this video, I’m sitting on fence, got M8 love it, got Q2 love it, was thinking M10 for the exact same reasons you put out there. Sort of get a Q I can use my M lenses on, sort of thinking. Maybe, maybe not. I’m still thinking but I’m leaning towards doing it.

    • @MarcusLloyd
      @MarcusLloyd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want the m experience with the Q2 look then go for it but I would honestly rock with those two for now and see how you feel

  • @lensman5762
    @lensman5762 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The missing joy is not due to the CMOS V CCD sensor. It is more to do with overcoming the limitations of the camera. This challenge is what makes photography fun. This is why film has made a comeback, not because of the higher quality, but because of the challenges that it represents. The more basic the camera, the more fullfilling the experience. I have had the same experience recently when I went back to shooting my twenty year old Nikon D70 as against my D810. I get the same joy out of using my M240, because it is really a basic camera with a superb 24 MP sensor.

    I've had my M10 for around the same time now. Been shooting an M3 for about 14 years and an MP for about two years. The addition of a digital M has been mostly smooth.
    The only thing I noticed: I cannot hand-hold slower shutter speeds with sharp results as consistently on the M10 compared to the MP and M3. I definitely need have the shutter speed at twice the inverse to the focal length I am using for sharp results. The shutter in the M10 seems to be introduce more shake than the MP and M3. That's my main gripe with the M10, but it's not a big deal given how clean high ISO looks on the M10 - I just crank up the ISO to compensate. The other issue I have is with the shutter speed dial - it turns without a hard stop and it's easy to loose track of what shutter speed you've set. The fonts on the dials wash out quickly, my copy is a well used M10 that saw lots of use. In lower light, I cannot make out the fonts on the ISO and shutter speed dials. I wish the shutter speed dial had a hard stop, not allowing 360 degree rotations. It's annoying AF having to look at it. Yes, I know, I can see the speed in the viewfinder - but I want haptic feedback - that's the whole reason I am sticking with the M in the first place.

    …I’ve used Leica for years an year’s - but now I think it’s time for Leica to think again about their publicly.
    Instead of spending millions on these silly advertisements saying how great they are, maybe they should they should start to realise that most people in the
    Real world are well aware now that companies like Voighlander are regarded as far superior to Leica optics/build quality - Are far more affordable for better quality and value for money.
    Leica should
    take notice, or it will go out of business just saying …
