Great shots. I note that the Lawley St to Felixstowe was nearly empty but the Lawley St to London Gateway was nearly full. Gateway doing a lot more trade now. Let's hope things continue to pick up.
Yes Alan it doesn't look good with some of these empty container trains traveling the country, but I did read that they were expecting that to happen to and from Felixstowe, but not from Southampton. So as you say lets hope things improve in the coming months. Thanks for your interest Alan regards Mike
Thank you so much Mike for the number..... It was DEFINITELY a Colas class 56 at Bescot. It was parked up in the middle. I saw it after I tipped at West Brom, that was about 11ish and it was still there at roughly 15.00 hrs, cos I was on my way back after picking up a loaded trailer from Ellesmere Port and I was heading back to the yard bud..... Thank you very much Mike. With kindest regards from Nige.
Glad you had a great morning Mike. Me too as I drove 1C15 this morning, with 43 102 leading.....engine was sweet, pulled like a train (insert laughing face here) and enjoyed every minute of it.....
Well Julian it sounded like you enjoyed your morning driving a proper train, It would be good if you could let me know when you are driving it again after 29th March and I will come over and film at Leicester Station and say hi to you, or film in the country by Kilby Bridge. Thank you for watching, Mike
@@antman09ful1 Yep, that would be great. I will keep an eye on the roster and let you know.....I have got an HST this Sunday from Leeds through to St. Pancras so I'm looking forward to that too....happy days...
@@antman09ful1 Fantastic drive this morning on 1C43. Lots of people out and about with cameras, especially between Leeds and Derby. Little slippery out there, but all in all one of the best drives I have had for a long long time....
Oh yes you was working today, well Neville Hill must be looking after the PC as they only have a few left to maintain Julian. Still in a few weeks I will venturing out to many place in every direction. Regards Mike.
excellent shots at water Orton 👍where i live in thanet Kent the only freight we get is when there's engineering and it comes from hoo junction up yard to see any it's Ashford but not very many or tonbridge and gravesend and with things at the moment i cannot go
Yes there are lots of walks Tony around this place, as you see from the video I only went on the station at the beginning as I would have missed the 56 If I hadn't.. I noticed last week while walking with the wife and our dog two enthusiast on the station, now that walk we done was new to me.. I will have to return on my own as it went by the line where I hadn't been to.
I appreciate your help, kindness and understanding towards me Mike.... Perhaps it's my eyesight but I have to confess to you that I can't see the difference between a class 56 and the class 69.... Except it's black, or gun metal grey..... But I'm afraid I'm not up to date with locos. Except I enjoy railways, freight locos and...... Collecting numbers..... I stopped collecting numbers back in, probably the mid 80s but I have always had an interest in railways.... Its only in the last couple of years that I have started collecting numbers again.... But with my line of work, I know that I can never fill my book with every single number on the UK rail network. But I, like you enjoy my hobby and appreciate your help and understanding towards me Mike.
Hiya Mike, so sorry for the delay in responding to you, only I been really busy mate.... Once again I lovely video..... I wish the railway companies would print the loco numbers in BIGGER DIGITS... I saw a class 56 today at Bescot while I was driving on the M5 M6 split.... The class 56 just as well not of had a flippin number cos I couldn't see the flippin thing!!! Stay safe my friend...... NOT LONG NOW bud.
No worries Nige about responding straight away, If you passed Bescot about 13.00 hrs It could of been 56312 going to get 69001 from the SVR. Colas loco 56094 was also there.
Cheers Ian, I also do a few miles walking the dog with my wife six days a week. Its so good to keep fix, then I can continue filming trains, well that's what I think Ian. Cheers Mike.
That was a very good spell for just over two hours Mike picking up the scrap Mk3 move along with Class 56, 57, and 60 workings on top of all the Class 66s - just a pity the Tesco bowled you on 66791.
Great video compilation. It's been a bit windy the past few days but I'll be up there next week. I have both carrots and apples for the animals too. They are the friendliest bunch of farm animals I've ever seen. They all followed me along the length of the fence the other week. I think they could smell my fish and chips.
Great stuff ROB, yes I know them animals think everybody has food for them. I too hate these windy days, so I will be happy when they go. Thanks very much for watching and your comment, cheers Mike.
So nice of you to watch my video matey, I asked the lorry driver what was going on, he told me they wanted the potatoes early but there was nobody there to open the shop.
Another tremendous video! Great captures, shots and action on offer here! Nice to see 783! Love that loco, hoping it will come past mine one day but who knows! Caught 73952 today, but not captured much lately! Terrible weather recently! Excellent! Great camera work and detail as usual! Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing! Keep up the fabulous work! Take care, stay safe and well, keep up the fabulous, inspiring and enjoyable videos we all appreciate your time and effort into them! Have a great weekend and all the best!
Thank you hundreds matey, you are very kind, I did see that 73952 was up your way today, and I agree the weather has not been kind to us this week, but its looking better next week. Thank you very much again for you top comments you make. Mike.
@@antman09ful1 Yeah it was, something tomorrow working 0Z53 to Derby from Warrington! Definitely not good weather, heard high pressure is coming in so that would be better! Anytime my dear friend!
A truly amazing video for me particularly the shot at 4.0 with that lovely old wall I last saw 55 years ago. Fantastic memories of Water Orton junction when it used to be Up and Down Leicester, Up and Down Derby at the east end and Up and Down Fast and Up and Down goods at the west end. It was arranged in such a way we could have three trains passing the box at once.
Oh Rodney that was the great days I say, I'm told what we have on the railway today is progress, but I don't see it like that, as there is far less traffic on our railways now than when there was a signal box at Water Orton. Thank you very much Rodney for memories and for taking a look at my video. Cheers Mike.
That's great that you enjoyed this video as much as I did making it mate, hope your day went ok at school, I suppose you have a lot of catch up to do now you are back. Mike.
Yeah it did, I'm pretty much up to date why everything so just getting started on some new stuff, hopefully get back out filming again soon, so I can stop digging out oldies👍🏻👍🏻
Been mad on trains since I was a kid, then motorbikes came along, then marriage and kids, then grandkids and joy of joys my grandson George is mad on trains so started to find vid of trains on YT for him to watch and then I started to spot your vids cos I recognise some of the locations you film from, I’m in Solihull. Anyway, got a question. At 9.30 is that TNT train moving those carriages for scraping? And why are those royal blue carriages at either end of the train?
Hello Neal and thank you very much for finding my videos for your grandson to watch. Yes they were going for scrap which I think is terrible, and the reason for the blue coaches is because the couplings are different on the stock to the loco. Regards Mike
Terrible sight seeing the Mk3 coaches going for scrap. Some heritage railways ought to have them instead of the rust buckets most use for tourists. I’ve probably sat in all of them... so is the only way to get freight to East Midlands Gateway to come in and reverse the consist? Inefficient isn’t it?
Water Orton growing up i could never understand why you couldn't use a daytripper on a train but could catch a bus out side the station to Birmingham m8
