  • Here I show you how to improve concrete gravel boards that had been painted by rubbing off the old paint with a circular wire brush attached to a drill then painting it with liquid cement. This could cover light chips and scratches to a kicker board and could also be used for concrete fence posts. Ensure you don't get any cement on a fence panel by covering it or removing it first. Mix it properly and apply it evenly using a paint brush. This works very well as the video shows and is cheaper and less work than replacing gravel boards or fence posts. The fence panels are painted with Ronseal black fence and shed paint. I hope people are enjoying the good weathe and that people find the video useful .

    Tried this on one gravel board and post, a couple of quick coats and it’s a fantastic difference, saving me quite a bit of money and aggravation. Thank you.

    What a great idea, my elderly mum had hers painted a few years ago...paints still good though as they used masonry paint but this is great for board that's not looking it's best. Thanks. Ann

    Good job, nail varnish remover is also great for getting off paint splashes. Back breaking job though on gravel boards!

    Does this last or did we do something wrong? We used Blue Circle Extra rapid Cement and water and painted it on a sunny day(s). We painted one post and gravel board to test and after a couple weeks, we can now rub the dried cement layer off with a finger and we can see the original post surface? Now assume that it won't stand up to much wind and rain either. It looked really good and brand new again after it had dried so a little disappointed that its not going to last very long at all. Any advice? Would mixing some fine aggregate help? Although i don't want to change the texture of the finish too much. We only did one thin coat, would a 2nd coat help?

      Aha. Well the cement I used if I remember correct was blue circle general purpose cement. I mixed it so it was the consistency of thick gravy if I remember correctly. It held out for about two years I think. Last year, the customer got me to repaint it with Sandtek Masonry paint. Vermont grey rings a bell.

    I just had some new fence fitted and notice the gravel boards has a coat of white powder. If I rub it hard it will come off. Do you think its concrete mixed with water like what you are doing here?

      Could be or maybe it's just a dust or something on the boards.

    Hi, what sort of ratio should I use water to cement . I have 9 boards that need some TLC.

    • @homegardens7682
      @homegardens7682  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cant remember. It was about the consistency of runny custard.

      Yes, just adjust it accordingly. Start weaker then add. Sandtek masonry paint is also good.
