You guys should take that model a body off of that frame and put the body down on a Ford ranger truck frame with 5 lug wheels and drop a small block v8 Ford engine
Interestingly My mom(100) a month ago, got her license at 14.. she had to make her own plate. Her Dad had a Pontiac,Hudson dealership. This was in Nova Scotia Canada.
Beware the cleaning process. Dalton from Pole Barn Garage ended up in the hospital after cleaning a particularly dirty vehicle from breathing the dust off and airborne materials.
Just did three oil changes and swapping brake pads. Today’s been maintenance day. Yesterday surprised-ish mom with her early Christmas gift of a set of tires on her jeep. She needed it bad and her and dad couldn’t afford it right now. Finally splurged and bought a good oil drain pan and idk how I didn’t buy one before
My old craftsman tool set came with a set of 5 square drive sockets, where they look like 8 sided sockets. I use them for random stuff, where regular sockets don’t work, but never worked on an actual square nut. The square drive sockets probably used to be really common in mechanics sets. And I know speedway sells model T frames, fully boxed rails, for pretty cheap, like $500. But you have to do all the mounts and measuring yourself.
I am in the final steps to getting my ‘27 T Coupe Hot Rod road ready. I purchased a Speedy Motors frame kit, it fits perfectly. It has several different motor/trans combos. As well as front spindle selection, brake combo, front axle, steering box and 4 link suspension. It makes for smooth driving vehicle. Worth the money, I have driven a few rat rods and they are a hand full.
Any color you want as long as it’s black only applies to the really old model T’s. This was due to the black paint would dry faster and it held up better. A few years into production paint technology advanced enough that they were offered in quite a few different colors. Red is completely possible as an original color. I learned this when I went to the Henry Ford museum myself standing right next to the 15 millionth model T, there was an employee there giving information about it. He was also explaining how stuff worked using the cut away in the same building.
You are half-way to a TROG build - find a running Model A or flat head, add some pre war go fast parts, fix the rust and dust in the patches, hand paint some numbers of the doors, and take her up to Wildwood and race it on the beach! it would be a quick, inexpensive, period build that will get a lot of attention.
Never seen y'all smoke but my dad used an old piston like that as an ashtray on his office desk, in the garage. It was neat. Just talking out loud . Love yuns videos, and it's awesome how you are raising them youngens.
1:03:54 that horn probably works fine. What I bet is going on is dirty contacts on the inside. Luckily from what I see in the video, it can be opened up so you can probably easily fix it!
I was so interested in motors and vehicles when I was a teenager and didn’t have a dad to teach me anything. Ralphie an your kids are very lucky, your a great father figure to them. I wish I had someone to teach me everything you’ve taught your kids.
@25:45 thru @26:05,, Thank you Josh. Keeping that old body as it always has been is awesome. A few period correct mods would be OK but Henry had a good idea when these rolled off the assembly line.
This model T has became one of favorite builds from you . I'd love to see a 2.3 turbo engine build with a 5 sp ... specially in this that'd be cool . So many people cut them and put v8's in them I'm a fan of something different.
Aftermarket chassis with modern steering, brakes and suspension, manual turbo coupe powertrain with a 9 inch Ford rear, Painless wiring kit, bodywork and high gloss black paint with flames for that old school look with the turbo 4. This will be a fun car.
@54:00 I learned this lesson working on my 1970 VW Bus. Laying on the concrete garage floor, I made contact with a wrench between the starter and chassis. Not only did I get an electrical shock, but the starter made the van move!!!
My preference would be a turbocharged 2.3L with a 5-speed and an aftermarket chassis. Of course, it would also need improved front suspension and a 9-inch out back.
You guys are great! Such a treasure as a family doing this. You both are great parents and always have great content no matter what you all are doing. Making it fun! Great job!
The tilt out windshield is like "cowl induction" for the passengers. 😅 I'd build a rod similar to what Mortske has, black steelies with whitewalls (or blackwalls) and a Ford inline 4, like a donor one from a Pinto or something. 👍 Just suggestions, of course. Good job guys! And once again, big shout out to Marge for her awesome camera work. 👍👍📽 Thanks for sharing!!

Svo 2.3l 5 speed transmission with a 450 lift solid cam. 500 cfm Holly carb. You can stroke the 2.3 to a 2650 and will put out over 300hp with the Svo aluminum head and intake with thunder valley header. I use to race a mini modified dirt car . The 8.8 rear from a mustang and the front clip from a pinto will work great on coil over Shocks at all 4 corners. 308 or 345 in the rear gear. By the was, always ck the exhaust pipes and exhaust manifold for being stopped up/ plugged before trying to start old engine that has been setting. It will hit but Wil never run. 1350 pounds.
@@SleeperdudeJosh every pic you showed as the ones you like have a chopped roof. I think if you don’t chop the roof it will be like sitting in a low fish tank or green house. That’s just a lot of tall glass…

Kitties goats and big blocks... and Model Ts
Absolutely
An ecoboost 4 cyl with a T5 transmission would be right up your alley, being turbocharged and all.
Oh Yeah!
👍

How about keeping the fenders front and back, boxing the original frame, putting a 2300 Ford with a 5speed and disc brakes on all 4 corners with a modern rearend. Also keeping it Fiftys with steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps would be WAY KOOL.
For me, I like the traditional hot rod look
I worked in a bolt factory back in the late 80s called Cardinal fasteners and we were still making some square nuts.
I think Gary is the best new addition to any TH-cam channel ❤
The body would look great on a hot rod chassis, use parts from existing cars to keep price down, and then the chassis could be used to build a model T speedster. Two cars outer one.
My vote would be for hot rod and call it the Squeeze Sedan!
Looking forward to seeing more of this car. I like the idea of leaving the top tall. This is going to be very interesting.
Those fenders have more stress cracks than parents with teenagers!
I saw a turtle deck track racer T at back to the 50s a couple decades ago that had a 4 cylinder hemi from a late 70s toyota? in it. Looked and sounded so unique. Can't wait to see more of this build!
You ain’t kidding
If I remember right, when the pinto first came out, it had the same displacement as the model T....the pinto 4 cyl has alot of aftermarket parts, they even made a turbo version....I'd bet an aftermarket frame will use alot of pinto/mustang steering etc.... either that, or an old flathead V8
My recommendation/request is to keep it as stock as possible. Maintaining the original look gives it more eye appeal.
Ok thanks
A 4-cylinder from an early turbo coupe. The T frame is very flexible so Ralphie may have to weld up a new one. Speedway sells a cool Model T chassis kit that would be cool under that tall coupe body.
