These old S320s are such great cars Randy very very reliable my dad has had his since 2000 and it’s a 1999 and he loves it to this day very very reliable that car took us everywhere we need to go with zero issues it’s got 176,000 miles now and it’s still perfect no issues never needed anything it’s only needed tires, oil changes, transmission flush and that’s it and it’s in mint condition just used it yesterday
Mercedes-Benz really didn’t want their cars to be stolen. Most Mercedes models you can go to the dealer and buy a new key with just the registration. Unfortunately the W140, R129, R170 and W163 keys are discontinued.
My 2000 C 230 Kompressor has to have a key fob coded to the cars computer or it will not run! ask me how i found that out, Then it was in limp mode and you couldnt even go 45 mph cause the trans was stuck in 2nd gear. These cars are absolute electrical nightmares
Together you two are always fun. I love anytime Randy, Mike, Santa are in a video or just the 2 of you! It’s fun!!! Hope you 2 go on another auction trip or random trip again! 👌👌🤞🙏🙌
Seeing Randy do his magic and bringing all these “impossible” cars back to life in a very unconventional way is always remarkable to me…and a lot of fun to watch😃!
Really loved coming home from work and watching this longer video Randy. Always nice to have a friend who is willing to help you out on a project. Will Mike take it or not 😅. Once again, thanks for the video Randy 👍
I wouldn't recommend this but back in the day when the square booty Buicks Oldsmobiles and stuff the short ones that were constantly being stolen, all the people would do to break the steering wheel lock is just yank the wheel back and forth until it snapped and spun it around to make sure it was free lol I don't know if I would do that with this until after I looked it up but I bet it's a simple push pin or square that just sets in and probably easy to get it out of the way
It is not stubbornness, just persistence! Great work once again! I love these cars! The last really good Mercedes! Sell it for a reasonable price to Mike. He will short out the rest of the car, he will have even more content in his channel and also use it for a while.
I learned from one Mercedes shop that the complexity of the key was due to some consortium of insurance companies in Europe who noted that Mercedes didnt take steps to prevent theft… That said, I always liked the E class better than the S class.
This was a great video I enjoyed this alot and I always love when u and mike get together it's always a great when you two do a video together and I would of been getting pissed off with that car too randy but I'm glsd u got it fixed and that she runs and drives good. Anyways thanks for sharing keep up the great work much love to you and mike have a good one twke care god bless and I will see ya on the next one catch ya later
@@ronallen6578 Clearly...I meant when they were newer. In my opinion, just about nothing at the time was built that heavy duty. There was metal everywhere in these cars. When you changed a tailight bulb there was a metal door to get to the bulbs. Car felt live driving a bank vault and high speed stability 80-90mph was amazing, as I recall. Best long range road car I have ever owned . I owned a 1992 from 1998-2004 and put about 100K miles on it. Traded in at 185K miles on a BMW 740i
I’m sorry to hear about your experience but my dad has had his since 2000 and it’s in perfect condition and he daily drive it for most of his life it’s got 176,000 miles and it’s perfect zero issues and it’s needed zero money just tires and oil changes

I came to see Randy's new clothing line, he has been killing it with good bands. Metallica AJFA so far is my favorite shirt and one of my favorite albums of all time too 👍😎
Unhook that cable to the gearshift to the steering collum if it wont go in gear i think theres a electric solinoid on the steering collum that clicks when you put the key in, My 2000 C 230 was like that
I just love it when you guys get together and do a project. Go on a road trip. Anything? I love it, you two are my favorite monkey wrench, mike and auto auction rebuilds are my favorites
Hi Randy, I really love your channel and I watch all your videos. But it hearts me to see you hammering the heck out of this beautifull Mercedes S Class. Why not simply order new keys for this beautifull diamond? This car is in such a beautifull condition and really needs very little work to make it in great condition again. Here over in Europe such an old S Class with that little miles easily brings 10000 euros. Even if it costs 1500 dollars at Mercedes to replace the ignition lock this car is fully worth it. Even better the car will be worth even more after this repair. These old Benzes are real tanks. The quality simply is amazing. You should give this car to Monkey wrench Mike. I admire his love for these old Benzes and always watch his channel. I like how he brings back these old Benzes to life. Wenn you take good care of them they will last forever. Myself, I had a Toyota years ago. It was nothing but a headache. The headgasket went out, after that the gearbox. Not to mention all the electronic issues I had with it. And the car rusted away like it had been 5 years under water. Now I own an old Mercedes E Class diesel. Well, it simply brings me everywhere I need to be and I hadn't a single issue with it. A very solid and tough car. Here in Europe they are used as taxis and you see them with more that 1,5 million km's on the clock. Simply indistructable.
It's funny how many people swear that Mercedes three layer windows are bulletproof lol they are not the three layers are for sound deadening. When Daimler took over Chrysler and started using double pane windows on Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300s and the Dodge magnums
Great video guys! your two are so funny together. Randy you need to get a set of Lishi key decoders for when you get cars with no keys. The Lishi will let you pick the lock and gives the key code as you pick it to get a key cut. So you don't have to go through what you did with this Mercedes.
I have a silver 1999 Mercedes Benz E Class 320 I got it for 1400 the only thing wrong with it is the power steering needs replaced and either thr belt or polleys needs replaced but its a beautiful car
Why on earth couldn't a Mercedes dealer cut keys from the VIN number, if Randy showed proof of ownership? Too late now of course, after he destroyed the original barrel, but that would have been a lot easier.
M-B definitely didn't want people to be able to steal these cars. No punching out the lock cylinder, hot wiring it and driving it away... I'm really surprised that the dash vents are made out of metal. I don't remember the last time I saw a car with metal vents.
Lol Randy damn you knocked all those pieces out bro. Okay, let me finish watching the video. And after much struggling you got it done. Good stuff bro. I'll catch you in the next one. Really horrible design there but it's a Mercedes That reminds me as someone that's worked on a lot of different vehicles. In your opinion, what would you say is the most easiest car to work on? It has the most space. The parts are cheap. It's no headache whatsoever to work on. What would you say is the easiest car to work on? I look forward to your reply. Have a good one and I'll catch you on the next one
We have an automotive glass factory near my home, and workers have told me Mercedes glass has a dual lamination. That's why you think it may be bulletproof.
I enjoy watching you and Mike together in the videos the Mercedes is a good car just a pain to work on. The audio in the video wasn't the greatest I could hear Mike really well but you Randy was a little off.
Randy does have keys for the doors and the trunk, so these keys should fit to the ignition lock as well. Since this is not the case, somebody must have replaced the ignition lock at some time. When this was done with a used lock and key, Mercedes doesn't have any information on this and cannot help unless you give them the VIN of the car the ignition lock was taken from.
When you and Mike work together you guys are so much fun to watch.
yes definitely!
100% 😁
For Sure. They are Legendary together
100% like Laurel and Hardy.
frr
You know it's getting serious when Randy's hat comes off 😅
It's nice to have a friend like Mike
I agree 😊
I agree 😊
Randy has some awesome friends. Too bad Austin had to move

You got that right! I have a 97. I’ve taken it on many long road trips. Very comfortable and dependable. Love these W140s
Yes sir they are absolutely amazing my uncle even got one with 110,000 miles 1995 white s420 mint condition runs perfectly
@@SpeedyGeneralMotorsINC when Merc was quality. Sad to see the new ones design & quality drop so poorly 😔
Gotta love my Saturday morning TH-cam shows! Thanks Randy for adding to my lineup.
Thanks for the shout out!
Sorry to laugh at your pain but I lost it when you cussed the ant out 😂
That was too funny
somewhere in Germany, 90 years old MB Engineer is cracking up, hehe

Randy and Mike always do a great job bringing the entertainment.
A Mercedes and a show! Hilarious!! Congrats on getting it running/driving/steering!
What in the actual hell??? Is that an old Mercedes with no warning lights on??? Is there a 4 leaf clover in the trunk too?? Great Video!!
Battery was disconnected, hasn’t been driven, no codes to be stored no codes to be found lol
My Mercedes is 24 and has now warning lights😅
Seeing Randy do his magic and bringing all these “impossible” cars back to life in a very unconventional way is always remarkable to me…and a lot of fun to watch😃!
You and the Monkey together are as good as Gold. Keep it up!
Randy you got me rolling when you swear 😂😂😂, Mike is also funny as shit 😂😂I enjoyed this a lot
The best duo! Monkey wrench Mike and Randy❤️
Way off topic but as a huge Metallica fan, I’m loving the shirt!
6:44 i was stung by a red wasp yesterday and sounded the same way 😬

Thanks for this guys! I don't know what it is about seeing someone else struggle with dump shit like this. But I love it!
Another awesome Saturday nice job Auto-spa bound ! Thanks Mike for hanging around
I gotta say Randy I really enjoyed this episode man. Great job to you and Mike.
I had one of these. A 95 s500. I still miss that beast. This Is probably the most tense I have ever been watching any of your videos Randy🤣🤣🤣
roxy a cool dog. glad you got steering wheel going. my 2003 chevy tahoe doesn't have steering wheel lock.
You guys need a tv show
It should be called Two goofy friends and a car
These are without a doubt the very best - when you two bring the good oil to the screen.....10/10 content!
You guys have a great time working together. Not sure what people see in those cars. Have fun with it
You know it’s gonna be good when Mike is laughing and Randy is swearing
Pull the steering wheel a little as you turn it over, it's just the steering lock
It is not stubbornness, just persistence! Great work once again! I love these cars! The last really good Mercedes! Sell it for a reasonable price to Mike. He will short out the rest of the car, he will have even more content in his channel and also use it for a while.
Red Rocket was the South Park episode if I'm recalling correctly 😅, anyone with a male dog should get it 😅
One of my favorite videos of all time for both of you. Glad it worked out.
I feel for you, Randy. I have a ‘99 E320. It’s the only car I ever bought new. I love the car, but it can be a nightmare to work on.
Red Rocket was from South Park . LOL Kartman milks a dog using the red rocket technique . LOL Great work defeating that wheel lock man .
My man got it!!!
What a great car.... it makes me want to cry , one of the last great mercedes series(w140).....
I learned from one Mercedes shop that the complexity of the key was due to some consortium of insurance companies in Europe who noted that Mercedes didnt take steps to prevent theft…

Boat anchors are built like tanks as well. About all this model was good for. A long drive off a short cliff is appropriate 😂

Finally got around to it, and it’s a old-school AAR movie! Love it Randy, keep it up, we love to see it! You and Mike are so good together!
according to Kent from mercedessource yt channel mercedes built the best cars between 1990 -2000, i agree on that.

One of the reasons thieves don't take Mercedes, lilke you said though over engineered, but I am sure that is the reason why.
Randy cussing is so funny and real and raw and in addition, Monkey Wrench Mike makes it more entertaining too he’ll Randy is entertaining in himself
Well done for getting it going.
One of your best. Glad you held on to this one to make a video on it.

Randy, if the wheels are somewhat straight, put it on your trailer, then back it up to the shop, then back the car in!!!!
I cried when mike said "well now you like them?" And randy said " i love them " 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That red rocket joke is from South Park too
Today we're thankful for a video that doesn't involve repos or Teslas!!

Ah yes, German engineering at it finest 😂 I’m on board with you there Randy 😅

I enjoy watching you and Mike together in the videos the Mercedes is a good car just a pain to work on. The audio in the video wasn't the greatest I could hear Mike really well but you Randy was a little off.
The "red rocket" thing wasnt from Beavis & Butt-Head it was from an episode of South Park. 😃
You actually meant the worlds number one famous Mercedes expert in the whole wide world
Al long as Randy is swearing 😅and Mike is commenting and making suggestions everything can be sorted out 😁
It's a beautiful car glad you guys were able to take it for a ride

Persisance paid off. This car is survivor.
That's so cool that it fired right up.
I love when Randy cusses
Feel like Im watching Yt version of 90s comedy sitcom ( Home Improvement) with Randy & Monkey Wrench Mike.
So surprised she runs and drives good. Glad you saved it!
I love when you and Mike collaborate on sometime, you two make me laugh. Thanks….
P.S. don’t shoot the Mercedes, you worked to damn hard on it….
Finally the video I have been waiting for since purchase 🎉
Good morning Randy and Mike
All you needed to do just visit the nearest MB dealership and GIVE THEM a VIN # of your car and they would cut for you the new ignition lock key!
That's not the case anymore as far as I know, the keys for most of the '90s Mercedes have been discontinued, the ML being the most notable example
Randy does have keys for the doors and the trunk, so these keys should fit to the ignition lock as well. Since this is not the case, somebody must have replaced the ignition lock at some time.
