There‘s literally no reason why there should be any gangs in hawaii.
Liberal media has been promoting this since they were young. All theY know rap music and baggin on a n word welcome to the future of western society, Its almost like the people in charge want the destruction of the west.
it's because samoans worship black culture. there were lots of samoans in LA and Oakland back in the day. they brought that shit over to Oahu
Did you miss the first two minutes?
There are reasons, as dumb as they are, there are reasons.
@@skritzo Its the ghetto….Black culture isn’t the only people w gangs

@Sage Opheim poverty doesnt mean be a gangster tho 😂 theres lots of opportunities to make money especially in hawaii where trade jobs pay the most than any other state
@Sage Opheim I grew up poor and never joined a gang or became a criminal.
@@sageopheim8382 Crime creates poverty and encouraging it will create an endless cycle of death. YOU clearly don't get it.
As a Samoan that grew up in a lot of this I can relate and understand why kids get into this kind of gang culture.
It’s complex and there are many factors to why this happens.
The mixture of growing up around differing cultures, struggling to assimilate, loss of identity, older generations out of touch with progressiveness/ the advancements of society/ their children, neglect, toxic masculinity etc. the list goes on.
Aweeee. They (and you) never had a chance.
They parents not doing their jobs !
That part about loss of cultural identity! Being so far disconnected from our roots has had extreme consequences in indigenous cultures
Hmm.. Loss of identity… Thats a big thing.
@@weeatcerealll what I see in this video, looks like "popolo wannabes".........black wannabes.
„It’s the hood, people struggling here“ - pans to beautiful houses with kids playing in the yard, everything clean and cozy.

To be fair, black people aren't the only people who struggle. You realize not everything that glitters is gold right? Your people don't need to do it either, but they do. Where's the complaints for them?

@@PandaHead602 not in a thousand years would i have seen something like this in Hawaii
There is no reason for this type of behavior anywhere. We all loose our sense of culture for something artificial
It's extremely sad. It's like they forgot who they were and decided to assume the identity of a criminal lifestyle instead. When you grow up poor, you have so much to gain from an education and gainful employment.
This literally has the same energy as every kickback i went to in highschool ever. The dudes that think they’re hard because its “cool” lmfaooo

I feel like you don’t know why gangs exist, also gangs/drug dealers have been driving what’s cool since the 70s you got it the wrong way around
As someone who grew up in Memphis and lived in Hawaii this is cringy. Every time I see them trying to talk and behave like black folks i get embarrassed for them.
Definitely nothing to Aspire to
How exactly does the typical black act like from your perspective? I'd find it more likely you unintentionally or otherwise expose yourself and take notice of specific behaviors. Your racism is on display, and while anonymity is one hell of a shield online, that doesn't make you less of a dirtbag, even more so than any specific ones you might be referring to...
As a Polynesian man that’s traveled to Chicago, DC, Baltimore, Thailand and many other places including all around hawaii and lived in Hawaii for 3 years. Hawaii isn’t riddled with gangs it’s just people bored In a place where the cost of living is quite high. I know the people of Hawaii are actually very kind people, you can see in the video that they are very nice. I don’t know why they are trying to make it seem like it’s terrible on Oahu. And all of this is evident when you see truly gang areas like DC and Baltimore. It’s not a flex coming from rough areas
The fuck so there so bored they kill innocent lives smh
Well said… I am a Chicago native and I cannot take this seriously. It’s not even funny it’s sad that they think they want this.
You said it. I been living on Oahu for 19 years now. I spent part of my life growing up in Washington DC. Oahu is NOT Washington DC. These people are basically bored youths (and some adults) who may have never left the island and are just looking for a little excitement. Like you said, it's not a flex coming from a rough area. What's not publicized are the number of people from rough areas who don't try to act hood. A very few percentage of Oahu residents try to act hood and they get the publicity.
@@ssandtitties don't take it seriously but you'll still get smacked in they hoods lmao.

I lived 1 street away from KPT and dated the most kindest and loving person from Kam 4. Gangs are around and that makes me sad but I never felt endangered and no one ever messed with me. Both KPT & Kam 4 always showed me luv. I hope no one else gets hurt
was probably a long time ago for you being in that area? I use to live in the valley and use to play at the old gym in the video when I was a kid, never felt in danger or threatened. But that was during the '70s. I also lived on School street, two houses away from Tasty Chop Suey where I had my high school graduation party there. I delivered newspaper from far up in the valley to around Dole school, KPT housing, and up around Kam school and Kam shopping center areas. Always felt safe, only was scared when stray dogs chase me. Not the same today, too expensive, too much gangs, too much immigrants with no respect for others.
@@ericnakahara4170 u know tasty chop sues closed ☹ something about the sign at night when it rained I loved. Now gone
I'm a local on Oahu and never been really worried about gangs, even when gang activity was much higher in the 80s and 90s when I was growing up. Never been as bad as mainland cities and today you hardly hear about gang violence. Yeah, I know it exists but it's rare. I'm more worried about the homeless that infest our streets than any gangs.
I visited Oahu back in 07 and didn't see any gang activity. I'm from LA so it's different. Still surprised to see them shooting at each other. Thought they were known for fighting and the occasional stabbing.
Infest is an interesting word to use for the homeless crisis, like vermin or something.
The cost of living is too damn high
Homeless infest your streets. That’s a weird way to put it. Maybe you should be mad at your state for not funding public health programs you bigot
Both of these issues are the result of liberal policies, and politicians. Which are ultimately the result of the population being stupid and brainwashed enough to vote for them for decades.

You see so many people who are stuck in terrible situations glorify it as something to brag about as a way to cope, so its so important that members of disenfrachised communities who have influence work to support it and try to end the toxic cycles however they can.
I was stationed in Hawaii for 5 years.. to be 100% real with you, I’m sure these gangs are a bit dangerous, but they are absolutely harmless compared to the ones on the mainland. I remember seeing on the news one day a “drive by BB gun shooting” they were all worried about lol.

These kids acting like this, is embarrassing. The whole mentality of I joined a gang to protect myself from a gang, even though those members joined a gang to protect themselves from us is a never ending cycle. Those poor children playing games on the sidewalk in gang colors. Not a real man around willing to step up and get their family out of that lifestyle. Surprise, there was a shooting immediately after a bunch of thugs were hanging out on the block drinking and smoking. It's a cancer to our society.
Calling any child/youth is embarrassing as an adult. Your negative thoughts and prayers type message is 100% absolutely for sure helping the "cancer" situation.
Wait do you actually think they really have a choice to live like this they born in to this with no way out if getting out was so simple then they would have done it but it ain't
They grow up and it’s all they know. They do have a choice, but it’s hard to abandon everyone you know and love. From the outside looking in, it might seem easy, but it really isn’t. If you were born in to that culture, I can guarantee you’d do the same “embarrassing” shit
@Travixty I fully understand that. But they are all kids. So my question is, where are their parents? The fathers have failed these young men.
The fact that you sit here on your white ass and judge people without ever having struggled in your own life is what is truly embarrassing. Grow the fuck up and learn some empathy. Do you think the fathers that abandoned these kids at young ages give a fuck if they failed them or not? What a fucking moron you are. Your view of the world is so small and insignificant, you really have no room to talk.
I remember when these Samoan Bloods, born and raised in San Jose, Ca. tried to set up shop in American Samoa, not too far from my dad's village of Nu'uuli, selling meth. They sold it to the wrong person as that person was the daughter of a high chief of that village and he told his family to close them down which ended up putting most of them on life support as they were hospitalized for weeks if not months and banned from the island.
POGs were a huge thing in the 90s, surprised to see it's still strong in Hawaii
As a local chick growing up on Oahu and seeing the lingering gang culture here. I feel this is a very important video. Truth is you can't get by here without a strong sense of community and having others to help a lot cuz everything is so expensive and unaffordable here and the corruption runs extremely deep with not just cops but also politics. My brother-in-law is a cop and his superior writes him up for refusing to break protocol and do illegal and corrupt shit. Sure Kalihi has the gangs but other parts of the island have the mafia. Even if they didn't faction against eachother and shared the aloha between eachother. Both the bloods and crips here would still be left with nothing and keep getting fucked over by our government's corruption. Rail project so rich people can line their pockets instead of putting money into the projects and improving people's lives so they don't have to fight and struggle and resort to such things. They need good outlets, good education, and good opportunities just like anyone else. Shouldn't be stuck in this situation cuz it will only continue as a cycle. Hawaii was stripped of it's culture and it's sovereignty. Now look at the reality of what it has done and how badly it has harmed the Hawaiian people. These islands, my home, and the home to so many others, deserves so much better. It was the most literate country in the world at one point, it was united and self-sustaining at one point. Now it is once again hurting and divided, except this time, there seems to be little hope despite the strong and overwhelmingly powerful efforts of so so many.
Well said. Great points.

@@jilliebean6312 Brother-in-law. So my sister's husband. It's not a secret he keeps nor tells anyone in confidence. He says it freely because people have a right to know. So I say it freely as well. Always wanted to live there. I love community, volunteering, and helping others. But the problem is, racism. Only God can see our hearts unfortunately.
I would be called haole there, though I love the culture and respect it. And at some point it wouldn't be worth staying😢
These gangs fight each other, but the real winner is the government, who steals from both without them even knowing. I hope more people inside gang culture realize that they're only destroying themselves, and their fights only end up with losers.

I lived in Kalihi for a while. It was a super narrow 2 bedroom apt for $1250 a month. After 2 of my mopeds got stolen and they raised the rent to like $1600, I got the hell out of there and moved back to Waikiki. Oahu is a wild place to live.
Damn when main land said that it's not dangerous
@@FrankFrank-wo2sl it's not that dangerous if you stay in good areas and don't go out getting hammered at 2:00 am and going places with strangers, but you gotta be smart because there are predators there looking to snag tourists into all kinds of schemes.
i discovered brandon about two months ago and binged every episode. he is an inspiration to people that want to do what they truly love. love your videos man every factor. keep up the great work
Finally some videos where the interviewer getting lit toooooo
Dude we played pogs when I was a kid in Arizona. Early 90's
i worked in a lumber warehouse in kalihi as a haole and never had an issue with anyone or any locals. it's mainly about respect of the land, respect of the people, and usually there are no issues.
Usually all it is anywhere . Respect
But when white people want their neighborhood respected it’s “racist” lmao keep being ignorant and keep killing each other fuck it’s so cringe
yeah, because you're haole; married middle-aged Micronesian, Filipina, and Poly women were into you. But trying being Bangladeshi...
Ladies and Gentlemen, another classic from Mr Buckingham
What up Tommy
im so psyched for this week broooo
Big dawgs gotta fucking eat🐐
U gotta interview some Asian gangs too big dawg
Bruh are filming at patapsco valley park? It looks like the spot i worked at haha
Dude i used to play pogs like crazy, in FL.
I’m glad as fuck you’re still with us making bangers, Brandon. Times got tough but you pulled through it. Love this shit
Professional nut rider
Bro, I wish I lived in nice houses like theirs lol
@@Brando-wc8fz projects aren’t really nice houses

Been watching for over a year now. You shouted me out while my dad was in the hospital I want you to know I think back on you shouting me out and saying” I hope your dad gets better” as a very good memory! I appreciate everything you’ve done Brandon I hope everything’s going good with you much love and god bless!❤
I grew up in MWH in the 90s. It was a thing back then & never knew it was still a thing.
I love how people are undermining hawaii's ghetto and thats the same attitude that wont scare the tourists away. Its rough out there. I got 1st hand experience growing up in MWH. My dad got stabbed, a dude died in my backyard, my neighbor almost got stabbed walking home from school . Its so normal seeing some of your family members tweaking on the streets and you cant do nun bout it cuz youre just a kid. I have stories but im sure my brother could tell you more bc he was in that gang culture. Just because theyre not shooting each other everyday doesnt mean gang culture is non existent, its real and its nothing to be proud of. Lately its been more and more shootings among the youth and its sad
It just shows they only know the fabricated american depiction they’ve been fed through media and schools. Can tell they never been through any parts, and if they did they stuck to the safe spaces for tourists.
Hawaii is not like that at all
We all appreciate the work Brandon keep it up!
I remember playing pogs back in Guam bro
"If you see this little kid he gonna smash your windshield" he just SNITCHED on that kid 😂
Man... I've found your channel recently and I gotta say this is some amazing and genuine content. Feels like how Vice was at the beggining, telling interesting stories with no filters and a lot of heart. Hope you can do it as long as you want! Much love Brandon 🤙
Absolutely love your videos man I love what you do keep up the hard work. Much love and respect Brandon!
Dude I used to play pogs in early 90s. That's crazy they still playing it. Cool
My favorite part of the video is that the host is wearing a Marlboro jacket during the interludes.
This is the wildest video I’ve seen about Hawaii. I’ve lived on Oahu for over 40 years grew up in Palolo and spent lots of time in Kalihi and never seen this. We have our share of craziness but Nānākuli /Waianae/Makaha you hear more news about. Everyday there’s either a stabbing, shooting or major car accident on that side. The new members from neighboring islands not affiliated with Hawaii are apart of all this mess.
One of the best TH-camrs risking his life to show other’s worlds. Stay safe, man
Love the content Brandon, keep doing your thing it’s much needed!
2:17 the music 😂😂
POGZ MY SHIT!!! A SUPER THROWBACK I PLAYED MY BIG BRO POGZ WEN I WAZ A YOUNGN
Happy to see you back on your grind Brandon, hope all is well!
amazing video brandon, you find the best people and manage to interact with them beautifully
“Im a good kid don’t hurt me 🤘”😂
The adorable window smashing kid. Lil bro is a menace 😭😭☠️☠️
you are one of the few good genuine TH-camrs out there bro
“We wanna be worse then o block” this generation goofy why they chase poverty
How you chase poverty when you already in poverty wtf, these ain’t rich white kids saying that lol
@@RenzaissanceTVthey’re not chasing poverty they’re enabling theirselves to stay poor.
Social media effects on the youth sometimes u gotta wonder if it's all a govt psy op
can't fix stupid
My Thai friend just sent me this link. He’s shocked this goes down in Hawaii. Super surprised when he sent me a Buckingham joint. 🌎🆙⬆️
Look how comfortable the interviewer was. Lmao
Back then When Samoans migrated from Samoa for better opportunities it was usually Cali, Hawaii, or Utah . Samoans who settled in Cali (LA) settled mostly in the projects of Compton, Carson, or Long Beach. Some of them moved to Hawaii and at the time Hawaii already had all the project homes filled with Samoans places like Kam iv, Halawa, Kpt, Mayor Wrights, etc during the same time. Long story short the Samoans are really the ones who influenced the gang life in Hawaii. Im not saying it’s a good thing but it’s facts.
Ain't that the truth!
as a hamo this is facts
Bay area island thick
Dont forget the tongans too
That’s one thing i don’t understand, why do micros get so much hate for gangbanging? When Samoans brought it over, I’m not tryna hate at all it’s just weird because there’s more racism towards micros than the polys that started the gangbanging out in Hawaii
Pogs....wow, that REALLY takes me back man. To a simpler time when all you were worried about was collecting small disks of thick paper. What a great time that was.
I was a bit surprised Brandon wasn't familiar. Born in '91 in Southern Indiana pogs were huge and I have vivid memories of the Hardee's promotion for Apollo 13 where they had slammers and pogs in their meals! We legit had a ton of pogs that we glued to our fridge door along with the usual school/family photos, I miss them dearly
Nature based transitions are top tier .
Amazing 🎉
Love these videos, showing the world from a different perspective is so necessary if we going to learn to love all each others
My dad was a patrol officer then a seargent for HPD in Kalihi for 25 years. Kam IV and Mayor Wright housing are definitely spots you want to avoid if you dont got any business there, lots of gang activity. My dad would usually tell me explicitly at times not to be in Kalihi period cause they'd get tips that the mainland gangs were coming to start some shet. West side of the island also got heavy gang activity in places like Ewa Beach, Waipahu and Waianae. Met a couple ex gang members when i did a stint in rehab a few years ago actually, surprisingly enough they were some cool cats i became friends with lol. Cant always judge a book by their cover i guess
I was a skinny haole kid growing up in Kalihi Valley housing in the 60’s until I joined the Marines in ‘74. Kept a low profile most of the time to avoid getting my okole kicked😂
Lived in Oahu for 3 years in the military. Wahiawa has its fair share of shady shit and crack heads rolling thru there too
run with the bloods there village dodonga from '08 to 2012... 'nuff said...... rip the true kingas... dead homies
cheeehuu!! 🤙🏾
The thing is they aren’t real bloods or even black… they have no idea what they are claiming or where it comes from. I would pay their plane tickets to California and see if they go into the real hood claiming this goofy shit. Saying the n word in their raps? Just because you arent white doesn’t make you black…
