  • Stanford University medical school professor and epidemiologist Jay Bhattacharya, a co-author of the Great Barrington Declaration on pandemic response, spoke at MIT on April 4, 2024. Dr. Bhattacharya spoke of, among other issues, the censorship his research and commentary faced under pressure from the U.S. government, which later became the subject of a case recently argued at the Supreme Court.
Dr. Bhattacharya was hosted by the MIT Students for Open Inquiry, with additional support provided by the MIT Free Speech Alliance

I followed Covid-19.from the beginning. I am a retired physician. I agreed with Jay Bhattacharya the two co-authors of The Great Barrington Resolution" from the very beginning. I probably spent 1000 hours researching how Covid-19 affected countries around the world, The censorship in America of Dr. Bhattacharya and others by the government, the MSM, and Social Media companies is a tragedy, and no words are sufficient to describe it. Sadly Dr. Martin Kuldorff, one of the co-authors of the Great Barrington Declaration was recently fired by Harvard for telling the truth about Covid-19.

These are disastrous signs for the future of our country. In the beginning, the just powers of government derived from those (humans) governed. Now the unjust powers of government flow from the legalized bribery called lobbying, and those powers are exerted solely on behalf of a swarm of corporations and one, murderous, bronze-age cult.

I am not a physician, nor am I particularly bright, however I was able to see the lack of logic from the beginning, particularly upon reading the paper from John Ioannidis in February 2020. He was advocating for a targeted approach to help the old and vulnerable and his work fell on deaf ears. I was never a fan of humanity, however after 2020, my thoughts have been confirmed. It is scary the amount of hubris, ignorance and idiocy, that caused and continues to cause a large amount of distress to people around the world. I also learnt that there is no such thing as an expert.

@@virginicaanderson1569 Amazing that you say this. After recently watching the original movie, Planet of the Apes, from the 60s (which I had not seen since I was a child), it was shocking how much the premise was the same as what we went through. The orangutan doctor (Collins, Fauci) threatened, withheld grant funding, fired, demoted, and censored any chimpanzee scholars (Jay and countless other scientists that dissented) that got close to the truth that was being hidden from society. They used the apes (police, social media) for enforcement and to ensure that the uneducated chimps (the public) all stayed in line and only heard the messages allowed. It is free on YT, and I think you will enjoy it.

If one was selective in one’s use of TH-cam, and if one paid attention to massively credible doctors and scientists like Jay and his colleague Dr. Ioaniddes, one could clearly see the wholesale corruption of the government-pharma-media complex. And once one saw it, one could not unsee it. The mass media attempted to just steamroll everyone who was knowledgeable, honest and uncorrupted.

nicaragua didn't lckdwn. schools were open. everyone was fine. Sweden is not the only one that didn't do horizontal interdiction (full lckdwn). Korea and japan didn't really lckdwn either (korea lckdwned 3 days for the city of Daegu, and 1 week for Seoul, but parks were open and in fact we had less harsher lckdwn than blue states in america.)
peru did lckdwn - the harshest in the world. yet they had the highest cv case and mortality rates.
pple point to NZ & Australia as lckdwn being successful, not realizing these two started the pandemic in their summer (opposite of northern hemisphere) and benefited from pull forward effect (mortality displacement) of 2019 higher mortality due to 2019 flu epidemic (it was one of the highest flu deaths in australian history). but the whole region in indo-china pacific did well and that could be bc it followed the natural Hope-Simpson regional seasonality curve. just as Florida, being in a tropical climate zone, followed seasonality curve as same as Caribbean nations (in 2020 all these nations had high cv cases 1 week after a hurricane passed by. so 1. pple were gathered inside bc of hurricane, forcing pple to get close together, 2. possibly hurricane wind swept sewage water particles with cv into the air, 3. increased humidity. all these can increase the rate of catching virus).
if you look at all cause mortality by region, counties or nations within that region follow the same pattern regardless they had lckdwn or not.

I was a member of an online community on Facebook for people suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. These groups had thousands of patients many who had medical backgrounds or were well read patients trying to manage immune symptoms. Those groups were flooded with newcomers who attacked members when they made valid points about the misinformation being spread. I left these support groups because it seemed like their Admins weren't protecting us and letting people into the immune support groups who only want to focus on the race issues triggered by George Floyd. It is my belief that there were paid actors tasked with agitating medical chat groups to shut down discourse and harass disabled persons who had medical understanding hard gained through suffering from something similar to the contagion at large.

why do people, even my *total hero* Jay Bhattacharya always say that 'Europe kept schools open just like Sweden'. They did not. Schools in Ireland closed for long periods of time throughout the 'pandemic' and masked small children in primary schools (age 7 / 8). And across Europe and the UK there were disparate policies to some extent, but mostly schools were abused by the self appointed 'elite'. #_Never_Forget

My extremely liberal city still buys into all the bs. I think they have to keep believing because admitting they were wrong means accepting some responsibility for all the harm that was done. We had perhaps the most dictatorial governor in the country. Maybe California was worse. She has political aspirations and seemed to be competing to be the most authoritarian governor in the country. She asked people to spy on their neighbors long before the federal government did.
I am rereading Heidegger’s “The Question Concerning Technology”. It has taken me nine years and many readings to understand just how terrifying his message is. I recommend it.
Let’s hope our country learns from this disaster.

There needs to be an overhaul of public health and scientific ethics and the formation of public policy ethics. This country is functioning in black and white fifteenth century European materialism and the politicians involved are completely unaware and stupified by their own ignorance.

46:15 Well put!: "They were absolutely convinced [that they were right], they misread the evidence, and they had no respect for human rights." That kind of sums up the reason for all the needless death and suffering we went through.
Hubris - the lack of modesty, and of recognition of their own fallibility.
This sometimes happens with people who get a lot of fame and/or a lot of power. With time they become convinced that they have become so expert, so skilled and that they understand things so well now, that they have everything under full control and can predict how anything will develop. They forget that the world is based on change and that in some fundamental way, we don't actually understand anything.
So they begin to throw away safeguards like mechanisms against the abuse of power, or the necessity of performing tests before deciding what policy or laws will be adopted.
"Why do I/we actually need to do that? I/we have become so expert that I/we already know what the experiment will show. The only reason to do it is because it's a tradition and other people think it's necessary because they don't have the same deep understanding as I/we do. So there's no real need to do it - it's a waste of time. So I/we will just say that I/we have performed the experiment in order to make the hoi polloi happy, so I/we can institute the policy I/we know is the right one."

life long democrat and liberal, and my disappointment with my friends, family, and elected representatives knows no bounds. their lack of desire and ability to question what was going on, to bully those who disagreed with them, the substitution of us vs them for critical thought was astounding, as was their lack of support for informed consent and bodily autonomy, without which we have nothing. their continued lack of a sense of danger or alarm at the road down which we are headed is a bad omen.
