Southern Tyrol was splitted off us in First World War. It is a really sad thing, but most of the people in Southern Tyrol do not want to get back. I had a nice chat with a girl from there. She told me that she does not see herself as an Austrian, nor an Italian. Kind of independence :)
Austria together with Germany lost WW 1. Italy take over South-Tyrol in 1918. Versailes and St. Germain treaty. The people of Tyrol voted for beeing a part of Germany in 1921 to continue a united Tyrol in a united Germany. Today lots of them want self demerination.

It is part of my country just thanks to a piece of a paper and some political calculation, there no more serious reason. There are no "original" Italians there and they never had connection with the Italian culture. However I think that in 2010 this arguing is really anacronistic and unnecessary [continues]

i was wrong, in the last battle of Vittorio Veneto austrians not had 51 divisions, they had 61! But at the end of this battle(3 november), you 're right, the austro-hungarian army didn't exist... Austrians had won on Caporetto only whit german help (7 divisions) Support of allies in Italy was very limited (3 from uk, 2 from france and 1 american) near 51 italian divisions. Italians also helped french in the western front.

The FRG is the biggest political part of the German nation but the FRG is not the whole one. Germany isnt united yet. It used to be. It was taken by the Italians at the end of WWI.
Because Italy annexed it after World War 1. But the most people in South-Tyrol speak german and wanna be a part of Austria again.
