I met him in 2008 at the Caravelle Hotel in Saigon, Vietnam. He was quite charismatic and did a good job. I don't agree with most of his politics at all. a nice personable gasun, though.

very corrupt man. However he was the driving force behind the good Friday agreement and the rise of the Celtic tiger. He was of course one of the last of our truly republican leaders . Of course this is my opinion and everyone is entitled to there own

@@hershpuri How many Finance Ministers do you know that does not have a Bank Account? He said he won a lot of Money on the Horses but his friends say he has never been in a Bookmakers in his life!!! He wouldnt lie straight in bed. He was in a Tribunal that lasted THIRTEEN YEARS and cost the Irish Taxpayer 100 MILLION. After all that the Judge came to his verdict. He did not say Bertie lied. He said Bertie Failed to be truthful" What is the difference? A lot of people think the Judge was paid off. He is retired now but he wants to be the next President of Ireland!!! He should be in Jail. Our leader is Indian - Leo Varadkar

Great leader great politician.God Bless Mr Ahern only for him The Good Friday Agreement would never have been finalised. It’s a pity a few dead heads hold him single-handedly responsible for the global economic meltdown.

Nigel Heffernan I've always been of the idea that the rainbow coalition preceding the first Fine Fáil majority government really set the foundations on which the tiger was built. I was terrible young then though. I'm naturally rightish leaning, but I'm also a railwayman so I'm quite conflicted between the Fine's.
