Mark Knopfler who founded the band, wrote the words, music, arranged it, sang and played his guitar as only he can. A GENIUS. He's just retired from touring at the young age of 72....
Perfect reaction......"OMG!!! WHAT JUST HAPPENED???!!!!!!!" Onyin, I understand, I understand. I've watched this performance 100's of times over the last nearly 40 years and I get emotional EVERY time.
Beautiful reaction! She almost collapse!! Love to see it. Whenever I see these videos, being the first time that adults listen to Sultans of Swing I think... What the hell have they been doing with their lives until now??? But it's nice to see the reaction. There is no such music anymore, of course. This is the Olympus of music.
It’s a great feeling hearing the live version for the first time ,I was only of the lucky ones way back then when A guy in work could not go to Dire straights and gave me his ticket I went with his friends and we have all been friends ever since and now I’m 76 and I’m still watching the live performance so glad you loved it ,
That's what you call music...Live and loud This track will never fade I was there when this was filmed and if I remember they got a 5min standing ovation It just blew me away
IT'S JUST COMING FROM ANOTHER WORLD! I LIKE THAT REACTION! IT'S JUST NORMAL, WHEN YOU SEE SUCH A BAND, A PERFORMANCE! 😂👍KISSES FROM FRANCE..... LOOK AT TUNNEL OF LOVE, TELEGRAPH ROAD, OR BROTHER IN ARMS! OR THE WHOLE ALCHEMY CONCERT!
Great reaction, this is one of the greatest performances ever from anyone, Mark Knopfler was untouchable during this time. I have watched this so many times and it's always amazing. React to Tunnel of Love from the Alchemy concert next, another amazing performance from Dire Straits.
Sweetheart they were definitely ON that day !! Especially Mr Terry Williams!! He drives the band as only he can!! He is simply something!!! And you look beautiful as you always do!!😘😘😘
Welcome!! Been rocking to this for decades. What you heard was absolutely real talent which is sorely lacking these days. Great reaction! I cry all the time during that guitar solo!
This is a great performance. Each of them was playing above everyone else I have seen, in my opinion. The lead guitar, not using a pick, but plucking the strings. The other two guitars matching the pace and just being great. And the drummer, he was the best I have ever seen, not just his speed, but slowing down and speeding up with great skill. And there were two on multiple keyboards. Simply wonderful.
The studio version of this is one of the best songs for cruising. Including road tripping. It's nice that you enjoyed it so much. What I love about this clip is how much fun they're having. Making a living like that wouldn't suck.🤑🤑🤑🤑 Shout out to the production crew. The filmography of this LIVE concert is incredible.🤩🤩
Dire sounds like tyre/tire or 🔥 fire. It's lovely seeing you getting emotional. The sign of a truly good story , book, movie or song is to elicit emotions and it doesn't have to be sad or happy but sometimes just emotions of a mix that just shows you how much you love and appreciate the talent of their music, facial expressions like those little smiles of mark, the beautiful piano of Alan or Terry and his amazing drumming. Their studio records were brilliant eg 10 out of 10 but this tour was more 12 out of 10. One of those once in a lifetime moments that not all bands get and not everyone gets to see except not thanks to TH-cam.
I love your reaction! I'm subscribing! This was filmed in July 1983 at Hammersmith Odeon, London, I spent my 18th birthday money on tickets for this show and it was awesome. I was on the balcony and it was jumping! Mark Knopfler, guitar, lead vocals, Hal Lindes rhythm guitar, John Illsley on Bass, Alan Clark keyboards with Tony Tommy Mandel on back up keyboards. Finally, The wonderful Terry Williams on the drums You don't realise how good it was until years later when its on You Tube! At the time the musicians were all well known, except Terry Williams and as a drum person he was the absolute stand out amazing! Onyin, I still get goose bumps when I see this!❤
I love a reaction like this to this song! Mark knoffler could make a guitar sing & second half of that his guitar sang its own beautiful love song & you manage to hear every word that is never said!!!
Onyin, Wonderful reaction! I still get emotional (just as you did) every time I see this performance. I have listen to this song everyday for the last 45yrs!
Your reaction was amazing!! Try Tunnel of Love from the same concert, about Mark's youth in the North East of England, and the Spanish City funfair in the seaside town of Whitley Bay. I'm about two years younger than Mark and I used to go there with my cousins while on holiday. This song brings back happy memories. Another good song, about America, is Telegraph Road, also Romeo and Juliet, Skateaway, So Far Away, Brothers In Arms, Walk of Life, and of course, Money for Nothing .
Onyin, good stuff. I like how you let your emotions show. Some of Dire Straits songs have the same effect on me, like Telegraph Road and Brothers In Arm. Check out their live concerts and Mark's own solo live concerts.
Masterpiece. It’so beautiful I can’t hold back tears. Mark Knopfler moves his fingers on his guitar and on my soul I liked Your reaction. Thank you for this video
I feel the same way every time I listen to Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler is a genius. Listen to telegraph road (alchemy concert), Brothers in Arms (Mandela birthday concert), Money for Nothing (1985). All Dire Straits
I loved watching this with you. I was emotional when I saw this live performance also. Its phenomenal and just pure joy. It makes you feel good. Each member is so talented, put them together, its fire! It still gets me every time I watch it
Love your channel and reaction 😊.. I love this performance. From the same concert Alchemy there's a song called Telegraph Road which is even more unbelievable. The lyrics too are so beautiful with the most epic ending ever. Thanks for this reaction Cheers 🎸🎸🎸
You have absolutely made my day Onyin. You know what? Have a like and a new subscriber. That pure and beautiful reaction brought a huge smile to my face. Your reaction was spot on. Dire Straits have made some of the most emotive rock music. Mark Knopfler (vocals and lead guitar) is an amazing songwriter and writes some of the best lyrics and music, and makes his guitar sing. Check out Tunnel of Love (listen to the lyrics on this one - the Spanish City referred to in the song is a fairground in Whitley Bay which Knopfler used to visit as a youngster and is reminiscing about). Another great is Telegraph Road which is about the establishment, growth and eventual decline of the Detroit area of Michigan. Every Dire Straits album is pure gold in my opinion. He has a great collection of solo material too. It was pretty much the soundtrack of my formative years. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
That album where this song is from is an actual musical gem. Try out Tunnel of love or Telegraph road, or Once upon a time in the west from the same album. Or anything else on there really. Ah, you still need more huh, np. Money for nothing (live aid) Private investigations Brothers in arms Where do you think you're going Calling Elvis I'll stop here, because you think no band can have that many gems right, but i'm not even half-way. No, really : Romeo and Julliet Your latest trick Skateaway The mans to big, the man's to strong Water of love Down to the waterline On every street The bug Why worry Ok, if you got hat far, i think you're a fan :D Welcome to the club :)
This is probably the best live performance that Dire Straits did on video! Try the video of Mark Knopfler with Emmy Lou Harris doing songs from the album they did especially Speedway to Nazareth
Plenty of Dire Straits songs to choose from. The whole Alchemy concert is amazing. They can play better live than in the studio. Watch Sultans of Swing live in 1985 concert, better still watch the whole concert !!
Next you should try "Your Latest Trick" from them...I have a feeling that you will really like, go for studio version. Another really huge famous songs from them: Money for Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Brothers in Arms, etc. There's no bad song of them. Mark Knopler is one of the guitars GOATs.
I see someone has suggested Telegraph Road from the same concert. Absolutely brilliant suggestion and as brilliant is the song that just blew you away is Telegraph Road, for me, surpasses it. I Absolutely loved your reaction. Warmest wishes from the UK. Take care
Love Dire Straits & had their records. They are a great British rock band from the 70's-90's. Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists around. They have had so many hits including "Romeo & Juliet", "Private Investigations", "Twisting By The Pool", "Money For Nothing", "Walk Of Life", "Telegraph Road", "So Far Away", "Brothers In Arms" etc. They don't have a bad song.
This is Mr. Video's favorite song that he reacted to. He has two versions, so not sure which one he's talking about, or if it's just the song. My favorite by them is Skateaway. Love that video.
I check the young peoples on reaction just for my fun to look their reaction about some great music like that one of Dire Strait. And your one was a great one. Emotion, passion for music and healtness that produce to us. Merci beaucoup and excuse my poor english writing, francophone de St Emile de Suffolk, au Québec. Encore une fois, merci beaucoup pour le partage de passion pour le beau de la vie ( vivre et partager ses émotions). Suggestion: go and make a reaction on Jacques Brel and the song Amsterdam. If this last performence (of Dire Strait) have bloowing you out of your legs, Jacques Brel will appeard just like the God of the interpretation of a song. You will may be not understand at your first listening (translation can be easy to find) for the meaning of the song but you will be striken by the power of the interpretation without any comparation. C'est Daniel qui vous salut Madame, et au plaisir et à la prochaine.
hi ,onyin .been watching music reactions 4 a year or so .evry time ive had beers.wanting to subscribe to help out.tmorrow going to subscribe.i i liked that
Deyer - Does that help? Have you done their - "Walk Of Life" or "Money for nothing" - yet? May I suggest - ( Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Karn Evil 9 1st impression, part 2.Cal Jam 1974 Remastered by Rudenko Arthur ) - This one has the best audio. It includes a GREAT drum Solo on an iconic drum and percussion kit. The drum shells are made of stainless steel and has etchings of animals. With the shells at almost a half inch thick, it weighs 2 tons.
Hi Onyin ! Great reaction to a real classic from Dire Straits. That's actually the very first time I see you dancing to a song ! I loved this song from the very first time I have heard it... until now ! But to be honest, I prefer the 1992 live version a bit more. I just discovered a simple, but very beautiful, relaxing song... Billie Eilish - Billie Bossa Nova ! And now I have listened to this song maybe 5 or 6 times. Maybe you could do a reaction video to it ? Best wishes from Gerry, the foodist.
Oh please Onyin check these 4 out lass...you will be glad you did honey...Supertramp, Goodbye Stranger ....Pink Floyd The Great Gig in the Sky...Dire Straits, Tunnel of Love (live) ...and Procol Harem, A Whiter Shade of Pale, live from Vienna...👍❤❤❤❤
You sound like you could be a Geordie. My dad was from County Durham, although I was born and brought up in West Yorkshire. While I'm a proud Yorkshire woman, I naturally have a soft spot for Geordies, so 'Why Aye, and Howay the Lads!'
Drummer knocked it out the park on this one!
And that's why old people like me ( I'm 70 ) allways say the music from our youth was BETTER !!!!!
The British smash it when it comes to music.
Possibly the best live performance ever, certainly it's right up there in the top 2 or 3 of all time.
Mark Knopfler who founded the band, wrote the words, music, arranged it, sang and played his guitar as only he can.
A GENIUS.
He's just retired from touring at the young age of 72....
....... Not bad, for over 40 years ago, eh???? Awesome!! Even the audio guy on the sound deck was world class!!!!!!!!
Perfect reaction......"OMG!!! WHAT JUST HAPPENED???!!!!!!!" Onyin, I understand, I understand. I've watched this performance 100's of times over the last nearly 40 years and I get emotional EVERY time.
Lady,, this band just touched your soul, like everyone else who sees it 1st time. Your reaction was 'nearly' up there with the band !! Bless you❤
great reaction to a great performance!
Mark Knopfler has an incredible ability to cause reactions like yours through his playing. His playing just exudes emotion.

1983, 39 years ago.
Now TELEGRAPH ROAD from this concert too.
You'll love it..
They are so good that their instruments alone just ooze emotion, you could leave out the singing and it would be just as powerful.
i had to wait more then 6 min until you finally got up and dance... great reaction!!!
That's the reaction right there, you get it girl
Probably the best guitar solo ever (with comfortably numb)
Yep, still my favorite live performance of all time.
Welcome!! Been rocking to this for decades. What you heard was absolutely real talent which is sorely lacking these days. Great reaction! I cry all the time during that guitar solo!
I just love it when someone just has to dance.
This is a great performance. Each of them was playing above everyone else I have seen, in my opinion. The lead guitar, not using a pick, but plucking the strings. Fantastic , heart warming reaction
A magical masterpiece. A feast for the ears. Their talent is other worldly.
The studio version of this is one of the best songs for cruising. Including road tripping.
It's nice that you enjoyed it so much.
What I love about this clip is how much fun they're having.
Making a living like that wouldn't suck.🤑🤑🤑🤑

Great reaction to my favourite band!! I only saw them once when I was 18, still by far the best gig I’ve been too. Telegraph road next I think!!
Hi Onyin ❤️🎸 yeah this was a era when they play good music ❤️👍🏾🥁🎸 THX for a wonderful reaction on Dire Straits 👍🏾❤️🇸🇪

That drummer is not to damn bad either! Lol
Skateaway, Waterline, Water of Love, Wild West End, Tunnel of Love, Romeo & Juliet, Lions, oh! All so good! 😄
Brilliant, truly one of the best👊👍✌️
This is Mr. Video's favorite song that he reacted to. He has two versions, so not sure which one he's talking about, or if it's just the song.
My favorite by them is Skateaway. Love that video.
Mr Video's favourite song is this one, he reacted to the studio version first, then this after many telling him he'd reacted to the wrong one 😊

Yes way. One of the best pop/rock songs ever written. You are beautiful, by the way.
Great genuine reaction. I would suggest, if I may, from the same concert "Telegraph Road"
That took you by surprise, it seems! Great reaction.
I would recommend 'Money for Nothing' for your next listen to Dire Straits, I love that song.
Deyer - Does that help? Have you done their - "Walk Of Life" or "Money for nothing" - yet?

I don't want to be mean, title needs to be adjusted, it's Dire Straits.
Other than that, video is great! Keep up doing great job!
You do realize you will never see anything like this ever again
Hi Onyin ! Great reaction to a real classic from Dire Straits. That's actually the very first time I see you dancing to a song ! Hey Onyin Pearl! To be in "dire straits" is to be in an extremely difficult position.
Try Nightwish- Ghost Love Score live at wacken 2013,, 👍🤟🤟
You need to react to "Yes - Roundabout"...
Probably addressed before but "dire straits" is close to like "dangerous waters" but not quite.
