samilinno Back in 1990-93, there were only a couple of times when someone asked me not to take video, and both times they were foreigners, not locals. Japan was a paradise for taking pictures up until the Internet got going. It's getting really bad now - you're expected to block out half of every picture by making it fuzzy. I take less and less and spend more and more time aiming the camera at the ground to avoid having someone's face in the frame. It's really ironic, because on one hand, there is no privacy at all - if you go outside, stores, railways, corporations, etc., record everyone's faces, but if you're an average person, suddenly you're expected not to record anything "Privacy!" people say - when they have none. Wrong target guys. The people you don't want to know anything about you already know everything about you. But that's really going off on a tangent, isn't it? The thing that happened a lot back then when I was taking video in non-tourist areas is I would hear people talking with their companions - saying "I wonder why he's taking pictures here...." It was exactly the ordinary things I wanted to record, but people thought foreigners should only be interested in temples, geisha, etc.
Yeah, there's a shotengai street here that has become infamous for its shopkeepers becoming instantly hysterical if they see a camera. The easier it becomes - technically - to take video, the harder it becomes (for other reasons) to record anything.
1993年生まれで今住んでる川越の街並みが変わってない部分と変わった部分、撮影時の車や建物から伝わる哀愁が儚くも切ない感動に包まれました。

当時小学生でした。今は38歳です。駄菓子屋懐かしい…。でも、今も変わってない景色も結構あるものですね。とても良い動画でした。

大学の時川越に住んでいた。この頃住んでたのは菅原町かな？それとも小仙波に越した頃かな。20歳の頃だな。泣きたくなるくらい懐かしい。

我が家の墓あるが妙善寺墓地がよく写っている。このころは祖母も両親も元気だったが、今や3人ともお墓の中に行ってしまった。この動画が撮られてから29年。これから29年後、私も十中八九お墓の住人になっているね。

大きな所で余り変わってない気がしますがひっそりとなくなってたり変わったお店や建物がありますね。
もう5年位前なら古い川越駅がみれたでしょう。その頃と今はかなり違っています。

川越の商店街にある地下のゲーセンで、UFOキャッチャーでぬいぐるみかなんか取ったらPS２が貰えるやつがあって、2500円くらいで取れちゃったのが良い思い出。
98年位だったけど、川越はまだ元気だったね。今はどうなのかな。
