Thanks Mike! Feels good to jump back onto coating testing, as popular as all of the new spray sealants are, they don't hold a candle in performance in true durability.
Do you use reload on top of gliss inbetween washes? I have CQ v1 + V1 gliss on my car. Have been using reload between washes most of the time. Curious if reload behaves differently on gliss v1 vs v2
I want to know what is better in terms of slickness! I applied gyeon quartz pure already, but I want more slickness. So I will apply top coat ceramic coating and I want to know which is better choice
Hi! do you have longer durability video of these two products? longer than two months... btw, love your videos! not annoyingly long, to the point and i see and hear all the information I need and want to hear and see :-)
I'd lean towards CQUK/Gliss V2 based purely on pricing. It's a cheaper option than CSL/ExoV4 and is going to outlast my personal coating reapplication schedule. Coatings last longer than I can physically maintain my paint, I'm going to have wash induced marring that I will want to get rid of, and iron contaminated surfaces before the actual coating and top coat fully wears off of the paint. Neither CQUK or CSL is going to be able to fully prevent the wash induced marring from happening, nor slight iron contamination, so at the 1 year mark I'm looking to reapply these products to the paint after a decon and light polish session to get rid of the defects.
rob sticca - Still gathering data on dilutions. I’ve got a car at 1:15 and another at 1:10 to see how these hold up compared to Ultimate Quik Wax undiluted and Ice Spray Wax.
Hey man, great review. Im a great fan of the Gtechniq products the crystal light serum topped with the exo v3 gave a fabulous results and durability.... noticed the e28 , you got an E34 too?? How did you end up with a Honda 🤣👍🏽??
I hate ceramic coatings that are two coats. I bought G technic crystal serum lite Applied it and the car was super smooth but the company told me I needed to put exo Over it. That is ridiculous they ceramic coating should be only one product and you should never have to use two separate products
There's a difference in the actual durability of the coating layer itself, compared to the durability of the hydrophobic properties of the coating layer. CSL by itself can be a highly protective and durable coating layer but compared to other single layer coatings, its hydrophobic potential and hydrophobic durability might not be as strong. I assume the chemists that formulated CSL ran into compatibility issues between the ingredients that provide the bulk of the protection, and mixing those together with the ingredients that provide the stronger hydrophobic performance and hydrophobic durability into the same formula. That's the reason why a chemist would break the system into two separate products, CSL to provide the intense lasting actual paint protection, and EXO to provide the highly sought after durable hydrophobic performance, because trying to mix everything together into one product could potentially dilute the performance of the actual protection, or produce an unstable coating with bonds that aren't working in conjunction with one another, or greatly reduce shelf life, or make it nearly impossible to apply and remove smoothly with the chemistries they're using. As an advanced coating user, I would almost prefer separate coatings/topcoats that specialize in what they do in order to stack the effects when layered to get the best overall performance, but the issue is now there seems to be one layer products on the market that excel in both protection and hydrophobic performance and durability, as well as lower cost that make it hard to go with two layer systems like CSL + EXO or Gyeon Mohs + Skin. This is why I'm very excited for Gyeon's newest announced EVO coating lineup because they're really pushing a one layer system that exceeded their previous two system approach.
I had gone 6 months without washing the paint, and this did a serious work on both sections which were at 8 months old. Heavy spotting, some staining, really poor and choppy water behavior after that first wash. If you check out my video on Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer, I had topped both the sections with it and I was able to really revive the EXO section, Gliss was still showing signs of damage so it wasn't completely revived. Overall, EXO is going to be the more durable protectant, and Gliss while you can probably use this effectively as a standalone protectant with regular maintenance, it wouldn't be my preference. I would be more likely to pair this with the CQuartz coatings as a true topcoat.
@@WaxMode Appreciate the response! I've never used GLISS but have EXO on all the cars in the family. Was just wondering if switching to GLISS was worthwhile.
Good coating for sure, nice and slick, relatively easy to work with compared to a lot of others. But absolutely I wouldn't want to skip out on EXO, CSL doesn't have the craziest hydrophobic durability by itself, so supplement the great protection that it offers with the strong hydrophobic performance of EXO on top and that combo is solid. I haven't tried EXOv4 on top of CSL, only EXOv3. You can get years of durability with the combo. But it is more expensive, there are coatings like CQUK 3.0 that might be a bit more tacky to apply and remove from the paint compared to CSL, but it's a one coating system that doesn't need a top coat to provide that strong hydrophobic durability to match its strong protective abilities. $50 for CQUK, compared to $110 for the CSL and EXO system and longer application process.
WaxMode thank you so much for the help. I was thinking to skip the exo because I have seen videos recommending not to apply it on a humid place because it will be difficult. I have a garage and I live in Puerto Rico, high humidity and 80-90 F, what do you think?
Gliss I would rather have as my base protectant compared to Ceramic Spray Coating, I wouldn't plan on using Gliss as a topper over it, although you could probably get away with doing so. I would much rather stick with one or the other, maintaining Ceramic Spray Coating with itself for maintenance, or using Ceramic Wet Wax as a drying aid on a regular basis for maintenance. Gliss is in a weird box, because I really don't think the CQuartz coatings need Gliss in order to get durable longevity, and my testing has showed that even with less durable spray maintenance toppers like Bead Maker or Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer when used on a regular basis can fulfill the role for maintenance which would largely negate the use of Gliss.
Yes the packaging is different for V1 and V2, and yes V2 package will be the one shown in this video here. They also have a year sticker attached to the box before you unseal it, V2 should be at least 2019 sticker, V1 should say 2017 or 2018. Bottles themselves will be slightly different as well, the Gliss V2 has CarPro's latest brand redesign labeling. Gliss V2 is actually a very capable standalone protectant, not just for topping, very easy to work with as well.
WaxMode word up , I just got some the other day and was wondering about that. Also it looks as if the expiration date is up on it tho. I read somewhere that it’ll be good for at least a year if the expiration date is up and the product is unopened .
I’d also like to know. Just used it on my brothers torn up truck after a strip wash with super clean, purple power vehicle and boat wash, eagle one plasti-coat wheel cleaner, ppvbw again, and then hydro blue
Boring G35 - M37 coating held up great, the coating plus the 10 Minute Sealant would probably be a great combo to go with for maintenance. After about 9 months of no toppers on the paint, the coating started to die down. I stripped the test after about 15 months on the paint. On the front bumper I still have a small section where the coating is holding up amazingly with a wide variety of different toppers. Seems like no matter what I top this section with it keeps beading and sheeting water like crazy.
I’ve been saving those headlights up to try and shoot a headlight revival video with the GoPro. I’ve worked on these a few times now, need to find a good plastic coating to top them with so they stay fresh.
Thanks for the update. Very professional.
Excellent review!
Can you get a depth gauge? I’d love to see how much clear coat is gone on the hood
I'm pissed!! I thought I was subscribed but wasnt!! Lol I made to sub ASAP been watching you for a long time now 😁😁
Thanks for subscribing David! Glad you’re a fan of the videos, definitely stay tuned I’ve got a lot I’m working on.
Gtechniq Exo v4 is the best top coat it can stay 2 years. No other top coat can be more durable.
Nice video comparing both. Gliss V2 is much better than V1. I also had issues with V1 bonding consistently.
Thanks Mike! Feels good to jump back onto coating testing, as popular as all of the new spray sealants are, they don't hold a candle in performance in true durability.

Haven’t tried Reload over Gliss yet, I’ve been away from the test car and my bottle of Gliss for a few months now.
How about an in depth review, comparisons and durability tests on Technicians Choice TEC582 Ceramic Detail Spray?
looks damn good to me!!
I want to know what is better in terms of slickness!

You should quit your day job. Perfect comparison. I’m gonna keep asking soft 99 water block wax more hydro than fusso
Matt Gavin yes I have both and the water block is way more hydrophobic than fusso imho ... it works great...
@waxmode how would you compare UK3.0/Gliss v2 to CSL/ExoV4? I have UK3.0/Gliss v2 and love it but was thinking of trying the CSL option, thoughts?

WaxMode thanks that’s kind of how my process is working out. The coating getting contamination and marring. What do you do to refresh or remove?
Great as usual. Any vids coming on MHCW diluted at different ratios and there effectiveness

Waiting on your review on CMX. Curious to see your thoughts on the holy 3.
illestFlavor - I will release the first CMX video later today for the initial rinse and degreaser test against Seal N Shine.
