- Are in the market to upgrade your saw sharpening experience without breaking the bank? Then you've come to the right place! Today we will be building a basic inexpensive folding saw vice modeled on one i saw in a Lie-Nielsen video 10+ years ago. This is a quick, inexpensive and easy build that anyone can make and is a great upgrade from the basic stick of timber with a kerf cut down the middle.
Hope you enjoy!!

That looks like a simple and effective design that you can make from scraps.
@@anthonyseiver7000 Yes, you could definitely make it from scraps
Came here from the "Twisty Saw Vise"-and I'd already added this video to my saw vise project :^)
@@thomashverring9484 excellent
Nice jig. I would imagine using small hinges at the bottom instead of the leather would make it easier to keep the top aligned. Wouldn't even have to recess them or anything. Looking forward to the video for the more intricate ones.
@@ChristopherRNeumann Yes, Hinges is definitely a good option also and i think your right it would keep the top aligned easier
Very nice idea indeed !!!

@@Gazman299 Thankyou for your generous super thanks. Much appreciated
Very nice
@@robnichols9331 Thanks
Really neat! Looks easier to store as well. Been needing a saw vide but storing would be an issue with space:/ Thanks!
@@EggyOrphan yes, i like this design for that reason much easier to store than a large saw vice, and can be made to any size
I have never seen this style before but it looks great. I've recently salvaged some wide laminated boards that will be ideal for making one of these saw vices. Thanks for the idea!
P.S., I don't have any suitable leather but I do have lots of hinges, big and small.
@@PeteLewisWoodwork My pleasure, It works surprisingly well for such a basic vice.
@@PeteLewisWoodwork Hinges work too
@@AussieWoodshed I will make one this week.
