Very refreshing to see somebody let the trail speak for itself and give a real sense of what it's like living on the trail day after day. Too many docs try to use music and amateur attempts at poetry to make the viewer feel something, but your raw footage captures what I enjoy about being out on a long hike: the quiet, the simplicity, the struggle. I also enjoyed the little snippets of contextless conversation. Thanks for making this!
Well done! I was just north of the Magic Mountain bubble. This brings back so many memories. And original audio..........no need for emotional music. The trail will drag that out in no time.
We're at 1:16:44 and loving it so far! Your film, though on the raw side just like the title says, achieves the goal of magnificently bringing the user along the hike and feels very real. A lot of youtubers feel so staged and don't show that much of the actual trail. You are very generous with massive trail hiking footage! The bits and pieces of conversation and campsite shenanigans that weave their way through the journey reminds me of film methods used in The Mill and the Cross film directed by Lech Majewski.
Good on you for taking this on, but for a photographer this had to be the worst set of videos, it made me sick to my stomach trying to watch it, like sea sick, but thanks anyway.
