Story behind TPG's "Story of My Life"
As we began our arrangement of One Direction's "Story of My Life" we wanted it to feel like each note of the music was a word in a vivid story being told. When writing a song sometimes you just need a little spark. That catalyst came from a piece of classical music -- one that had such a "storybook feel" to it that we gleaned inspiration from it: Saint-Saëns' "Aquarium" from his Suite "Carnival of the Animals." It's an incredibly beautiful and transportive piece. You can listen to it here: • Video
When we were finished we all stepped back and listened as objectively as we could, imagining what sort of story was being told in order to identify the best places to film. What happened surprised us all. The story itself took over. It was like film score -- but in reverse... more here: smarturl.it/storyofmylife1

The old man telling the story of his life, and how so much of it revolved around the memories made underneath that willow tree is beautiful. It’s like they took the classic book The Giving Tree, and turned it into a musical masterpiece.
It was such a special experience taking part in this video. It’s so fun looking back on our little family. No life is without adversity. Sometimes lighting strikes, but if we trust in our Father in Heaven, he will carry us through our trials and fill our lives with peace and happiness.

@Jonah Pentecost when a women has 5 babies at once, they were called a quintuplet. Twins are 2 babies, triplets are 3, quadruplets are 4, quints are 5. It gots further (like up to 9) but these multiples are the most common.

I discovered you guys several years ago. I find myself coming back to this particular video all the time. I can not get over how well it was put together and how fitting it is to show an elderly man drawing his life and then bringing that to life. I get tears of sadness and joy every time I watch this. I love ALL of your work and I have a playlist just dedicated to you guys! I have always loved instrumental music over lyrics and when you guys compose a song and make it your own, it is just BEAUTIFUL! Ngl, I already starting tearing up whenever it gets to the wedding. This is filled with so many emotions, I honestly cannot fathom how many times these guys have surprised me with their music and the amount of cinematography that goes into all of their music videos which really does capture the essence of the story
This makes me cry. Every. Time. I. Watch. It. The original One Direction song is great too, but this adds so much more depth and pathos. Beautiful.

WOW! I have watched this video so many times and as a grown man cried every time. Awesome doesn't describe how y'all actually told the story of a life and also made me remember it is the moments; however short, that matter and those are the one that make "LIFE." We to often focus on the now forgetting the past and forgetting to what will come.

This I could listen to and watch over and over. This song has so much meaning to it the way you guys play it, and with this beautiful video to support it just makes it that much more powerful. Never stop doing the things you're doing.

I remember giving a simple little kid's gift to a girl. She threw it on the ground and ran away. My heart died...that was 60 years ago. I have never forgotten that awful feeling. I haven't done much better since then.

Its amazing 9 years later and this can still hit me this hard emotionally! As a person who grew up in the country on a small family farm, there is just something here that resonates so much with me.

This is so emotional and beautiful! A young boy plants a tree, and cares for it when he is growing up. When he was older, he met a girl next to the tree. They fell in love. They played on it and grew up with it. He gave here a bracelet on the tree from the tree. Later in life, they got married in front of the tree! Finally, when they were dancing in the rain in front of the tree, lightning hit it and knocked it down. It was ruined. So, he set to work and made a cradle for his new born child out of the bark. Now, as an old man, he is drawing amazing pictures of his past. I love this, and piano guys, keep up the great work! You're amazing and don't let anyone stop you! I'm surprised with the dislikes. Who doesn't like this?! It's amazing! Anyway, have a bright future, and your already on the sun!

Beautiful piece of music. First heard this a couple of weeks ago. It was played at a walk/event I had done with my daughter to remember those who were lost through suicide. Its the first time Ive seen her shed a tear since her dads funeral 2 years ago. Never been able to get this music out of my head since.
