Minden is a key crossing point and these troops would blow the bridges over the Weser then build pontoon crossings for any counter attack in time of war, the other thing to go would be the Mittleland canal in places where the roads goes to flood the Minden gap creating pinch points on the higher ground for the artillery and air forces to concentrate their fire on. We did several night crossings at a couple of different places in the area with pontoon bridges built by the German army and the British army, first time is scary with no lights and a man with a small glow stick guiding you over after that it was a doddle as you knew it was safe but how do you stay quiet with an Army crossing with infantry tracked vehicles and tanks from the armoured regiments plus all the light transport ? We never did any daylight crossings.

I think I'd be a little apprehensive parking my car right on the corner there with very large armoured vehicles coming round that corner at speed

Bei Minden sind die Bundesstraßen bereits in cold war times extra dafür verbreitert gebaut worden...
Die Bundeswehr hat Sonderrechte, sonst dürften einige Panzer wegen Übergewicht auch nicht fahren.
