Thanks! Those issues were why I was always afraid to jump start my mini bus alone because I didn't know what I was afraid. Great practical advise and knowledge for novices like me. Its what I kept asking people and never got a working answer.
That’s what I was thinking, he had me questioning everything I knew for a minute😂 the only time I was told to clamp it to the frame was when there was no negative terminal.
I have always removed the cables just after jump starting, never had any issues; the alternator produces more charge than the car needs to run. Just don't turn off the engine for at least 15 minutes. About the high revs and voltage regulation: the started vehicle generally pulls down the voltage of the donor car, so it may be quite possible that you would need higher revs to reach the regulated voltage threshold. If you have a multimeter handy it can help you monitor what is happening - and even jump start a much bigger car.
Had to jumpstart my car yesterday, and I touched the clamps. Wish I watched this first.. 😭😭 The shock totally scared me. Now here I am trying to learn lol
I hate those side post batteries. I carry a battery booster pack as well as booster cables in my vehicle, then you don't have to wait for someone to come along. It's amazing how many people don't have booster cables.
I’d consider myself fluent in mechanical fixings and every time I bust out the cables I still don’t really remember with as much confidence as I’d like …
Great video but didn't mention about the quality jumper cables. Buy yourself a $30 or $40+ Heavy Duty Jumper Cable with higher Gauge with 25 Feet with Carry Bag that will help charge the dead battery quick. I had mine for over 20 years and jumped many cars. Had never fail me once.

Back n the old days when mb the voltage regulator was separate from the alt mb it not only was easier but way cheaper to diagnose and fix, than these b/s CHARGING systems. On average, it took only 10-15 mins to change out a volt regulator and most could be simply filed down the contacts to get it to work again. Nowadays, it can take several or more hours just to change the F-ING alt. Had this so-called mechanic try to help this guy just start his small p/u with a smaller car. They had been trying for more than 30 mins and I told him to find a good neg ground on the trk, well, 15-30 secs later, boom, the trk started. The mechanic couldn't say a word b/c he knew he was wrong. Always listen to your elders, they KNOW BETTER........ GR8 VID OTHERWISE!!!!!!

Last year My dad jump started his little Nissan 1.5L i4 using my 4.0L V6 and connected both terminals together, I told him how dangerous it was but he just brushed it off, thankfully nothing happened at that moment but later that when he was driving for some reason his ignition coils blew off
Interstate battery last more then 5 years, sometimes 8 years . Go with Interstate battery. They are the experts. Once you buy thier battery They can test it free anytime Fill in the fuilds , maintenance Clean the connection all for free !!!!!! And they always try thier best to troubleshoot the battery unlike dealership and other auto parts . they will say " you need a new battery " They help me with my Nissan problem, battery died every 2 years, they troubleshoot it 5 times and finally found the issue. No more dead battery for me and no charge to finding the issue
ive always connected both ends to the batteries to jumpstart and never had any issues, not sure i understand why he didnt use the negative and instead the alternator ground?
It is a potential to have a explosion the because the battery gases, If i was you i would not do it anymore I always put the negative on the ground of the car
Hey A1 Auto, Guess what!? You CAN jump start a bigger vehicle with a the supply coming from a smaller vehicle! The trick is to do it with time. Yes, TIME! If you take 15 to 20 minutes and let the smaller car supply a charge to the battery in the large vehicle you can start your larger vehicle after the batter gets charged. This is also possible if all you had was a bunch of AA size batteries connected in series. The key is letting the transfer of electrons happen over time.
Idk, I used my Nissan Altima 4 cylinder to jump start a big rig with 4 batteries 😅. That was a year ago. Not once but 4 times last year So far no battery issues with my interstate battery which has a 5 year warranty
in a hurry one day I crossed the wires on the jump pack. blew one of the bigger fuses and put the car into limp mode. luckily I had the same model with a smaller engine and swapped it out until I got a replacement for ebay. It did get a little hot driving in limp mode but no damage. Won't rush a jump pack start ever again.
I tried jumping my battery that was completely dead a few days ago and the cables were melting. Possibly because I connected the recipient negative clamp to the battery terminal
Get good heavy duty cables. The cheap ones are not good to use. If there is damage to the wires inside the insulation, that may also cause this. Store your cables in a way they are protected for this reason. Be safe and good luck.
Actually had my brother hook up his truck backwards before...... he just wasn't paying attention when he hooked it up...... but yeah I had to tell him he could have messed up both our trucks doing that
If you do, just make sure you hook up other vehicle wrong too. Ie: both black handles on red battery terminals, one red handle on good black battery terminal and the other red handle to a good ground in the bad vh..... Just Verify The Same Side Cable Goes to the Positive on Each Battery. But safer to undo, and re-do red to red black to black.
Is it true that if you jumpstart a car it can damage your alternator because this man did not want to turn on his car he said that he was scared that my car would damage his alternator!! Is this true???
Is it not risky to run the slave car with the donor car connected? Can’t the reverse charging mess up many of computers. Is it not safer to charge for a few minutes with the donor vehicle, and then disconnect? Old cars not a problem. Modern cars are more sensitive to charging issues. Or at least that is what I have been told.
After jumping a vehicle taking the cables off of the stalls why would it stall for the simple reason your engine is not running off of battery it runs off the alternator if the alternators turn should be running just fine
But fr get the alternators tested because they cost more than a battery to replace but you'd probably trade in that old battery (but in my case I have 5 fucking maintainers that have no use in the summer sooo)
7:39 - Ummm... Can't you just... you know... Connect the DEAD battery first, and then connect to the live battery? The hydrogen gas form the "good" battery is so minute it's not an issue. There's already spark, alternator, etc in that area... ANWAYS. So ehhh?

I love this show
It is great.
I really watch just for the comedy lmao. This guy is good.
Thanks
But since i were a kid we connect positive with positive and negative with negative and it works without any problems not even once
Very small chance of explosion, but it can, and does happen
I've had vehicles not jump until we did it that way. The safe way never works for me.

That red battery protector crap melts between terminals blocks connection esp new battery...
But are you supposed to turn off the donor car before turning on the dead car?
Funny...lol but any car will start a truck have done it many times...just leave foot on gas pedal lightly while you start the other vehicle....!!!
Yeah, but it will strain the aaternator of the car.

Good God this guy needs to lay off the caffeine......
I ALWAYS SEE PEOPLE PLACING THE CABLES ON THE BATTERIES, people are not careful at all
Hi, t/f .... Scotty days not to have both engines running. Both alternators can damage the diner car.
I would head to the battery shop ASAP and get me a new battery if I have to jump start my vehicle
Not necessarily but pick up a battery tester from Walmart there like 10 bucks
But fr get the alternators tested because they cost more than a battery to replace but you'd probably trade in that old battery (but in my case I have 5 fucking maintainers that have no use in the summer sooo)
Verhicle? Am I the only one hearing this?
Verical
Question now is....i did this to jump my car and it wouldnt crank until i stuck both negatives on both batteries 😭
Same. Happened to me multiple times. I'd try the safe way and use the red to red and black to black as a last resort. You should be fine either way
7:39 - Ummm... Can't you just... you know... Connect the DEAD battery first, and then connect to the live battery?
