@@NotAHairModel I purchased a few packs of the older DSC blades in Walmart in Orlando and I had hoped that they ‘d be selling them in Asda in Scotland as they’re just class, sadly there’s nothing doing apart from Harry’s Blades which were excellent 2 or 3 years ago but have went downhill since then. Quite a few shops like Boots,Tesco and Wilco are selling Harry’s Blades and Shaving cream,I’m 100% certain that there’s a market for DSC too.👍
It’s almost the end of 2020 and I’m still not seeing this updated Executive razor on the DSC site? Have they decided against selling it or are they waiting to release it next year? I saw a rebrand of their logo coming next year so I’m not sure what they’re planning.
Hi Zak Boxer - thanks for being here! This may be what you're referring to so I apologize in advance if you already know this info: DSC recently sent out an email saying they'll be sending out ANOTHER email on Oct 1 in celebration of their 10 year anniversary (2021) they'll be revealing a bunch of new stuff. I'm guessing the new razors will be part of that since they've been around and getting tested for at least a year and a half, but we should know for sure in a few days. Stay tuned!
Not A Hair Model thank you, I really appreciate that info! I’m a new subscriber here and a head shaver, and I look forward to that reveal. Is this new razor much better than DSC’s old executive? I actually just ordered a trial set, but now I’m hoping they’ll let me get the new one instead
Welcome - I'm so glad you're here! Personally, I think the new one (Unilever) is a WAY better razor than the original Executive (Dorco) version. And in all honesty, I actually prefer the updated 4X even more because I have really thick hairs and I'm lazy and don't always shave my head as often as I should, so the hairs are longer too. All that leads to the razor getting clogged... a LOT. The Executive is 6 blades really crammed into that small space but the 4X's 4 blades in the same space offers slightly more room in between them for better flow through and less tugging/pulling/irritation. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious on this, but I thought I would share. :-) I have a 4X comparison video coming soon that goes over both of the new blades. Stay tuned for that, as well!
Hey, Phil. Nice job producing truly professional content! I felt like I was watching E! Entertainment New or something. I appreciated your review as well. I've been a longtime DSC user myself, and I actually did not know about Dorco or DSC's newest Executive razor, so thanks for sharing!
The original executive blade is the best razor I ever used (very thick facial hair). The new version didn't cut it for me at all, so I called DSC to complain (I went full Karen 😂). They sent a link to buy the original one in bulk, I now have razor heads for about 10 yrs.
One of the best videos anywhere by anyone, on such a subject. My interest in this comes from frustration with DSC's products. IMO the handle is decent, but the attachment system is maybe the worst thing I have ever used. The blades DO NOT stay on the razor, and fall off probably 5 times per shave. DSC told me I was not using the correct blade. So they sell a razor handle, and blade refill pack with it, and KNOW that the two are incompatible. I have tried every combination of DSC blade and razor and they just fall off.
Any experience with the trimmer blade on the new executive? I purchased some and even though the marketing mentions it no matter how I tilt the razor nothing will cut.
Hi Katie - Great question! I like them both equally, but for different scenarios. Let me explain. I like this one if I shave more often, like every 1-2 days because my hair is shorter so it doesn't clog as easily. I like the Defender more for longer shaving every 3-4 days because with the 3 blades and longer hair, it doesn't clog as easily. The Defender takes a little more getting used to in both the feel in your hand and on your skin, but this DSC Exec is a pretty straightforward razor. IF I had to choose, I'd go with the DSC Exec. Right now I'm bridging the gap in those two scenarios with the DSC 4X. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions!
Not A Hair Model, Thank you! I don’t shave every 1-2 days because, who got time fa dat? Haha. Maybe the defender is the right way to go for me. Thanks for your insight and videos!
Hey Phil thank you SO MUCH for this video. I had NO IDEA that DSC had new blades and handles and was completely intrigued. I had to come back and share for all to see what my experience was with the website and the new handles and blades. I went on a live chat on the website and just asked about the new blades and handles and the customer service rep I was chatting with instantly switched me over to an updated site that contained the new handles/blades - I just asked and BAM they took me there!!! Just ask gentlemen and you SHALL RECEIVE:-D I have a 6X Blade 4-pack and a new White Stripe Handle on the way now!
Hi Richard! And thank YOU so much for watching and commenting!!! I'm so glad that you were able to get them to switch you over - the new stuff has secretly been out for a year and a half, so why not. And also a huge thank you for sharing your experience here for others to know that it works. I've got a 4X video review coming up soon, as well, so I would suggest trying and comparing both because I used to be all about the 6X, but then switched - just a thought. Also, DSC recently announced a new look for their 10 year anniversary in 2021, so I'm assuming they'll make a big deal out of the new razor products and planning a big rollout. Anyway, thanks again for being here!
I prefer the older handles, they were much simpler to connect and disconnect, . I've had some issues connecting the blade cartridges to the new designed handle .
I live in Australia and I recently placed my first order (1 x razor handle, 2 x 4pc razor cartridges and 1 Shave Butter), but I didn't get the new thinner black 6 blade razors and the new style of handle you have shown us here. Not happy.
Hi Ian. WOW, I’m shocked they even still have the old Dorco ones in stock! Did they show the newer version on the site when you ordered it? In my experience DSC has pretty awesome customer support, so I would try reaching out and let them know what happened and which one you prefer and they may be able to get it sorted out pretty quickly. Thanks for the info - super interesting to know!
I think I subbed to the DSC in 2017-2018 but I still use the Dorco version and I literally have a ton of blades for it lol. Still enjoy the product and get great shaves from it. Now, only need to get better shave soaps.....
Hi Tman2217! I did a test DSC subscription recently and it served up the 2012 Dorco products, so I still can’t figure out their pattern of who gets what, but if you do want to try the new stuff you’ll have to ask them for it. It sounds like you’re all set for awhile with what you have - awesome! We have more shave soap/cream/gel/butter, etc videos planned, so stay tuned!!!
Hey Phil. Sent you some information about the manufacturer of the new razor and blades via your website. Feel free to answer here if the comment didn`t arrived.
Hi blackspion_de blog! I did get your note - THANK YOU for the great info and taking the time to send it! I’m looking into your request and will reply back to your email ASAP. Thanks again for everything!!!
Great question! I actually find myself liking the 4X even more than the Executive. I’ve been comparing both for awhile and have come to the conclusion that it’s better to use 6 blades if you shave every 1-2 days and 4 blades if you shave less often. That video is coming up soon where I’ll explain and compare them more. Hope that helps!

Oh well I got beaten to the punch on that one, well done for such a great review on it. I will be sharing your great video of the new DSC razor with others untill I can get my own to review. Oh but I think the reason for the change to own manufacture is different to what you stated. I thought the Dorco pulling out from direct to consumer and going through Amazon was only in the UK. I am assuming then that this was a global move as they discovered that the direct to consumer was not profitable (too labour intensive for each small margin transaction). And they are not likely to be bought out by anyone, so need to make money the old fashion way 😉
Thank you so much for the kind words - they mean a LOT! I've dug around trying to find out more info about what "really" happened with Dorco, but haven't been successful. Nothing would surprise me, at this point. :-) If I learn more I'll make an update to this one OR a whole new video. DorcoUSA.com is now completely shut down and they released their "Pro" line on Amazon, so that lines up with what you're stating. They're on the list to review eventually. Also, I'll have the new DSC 4X review coming out soon. Thanks again and let me know if I can help in any way!
@@NotAHairModel thanks for the detailed reply. If you want to connect with me on Linked In I have lots of other razor related facts and most of the industry connected to me (more than my day job lol). The link below is the video I did of the design trademarks I found online for the handles for DSC. I had also seen photos of the prototypes but had kept them under wraps. I had hoped to be the first to get a TH-cam review on them, but you beat me to it 😉. That's the joy of not being in America and it's only released over there right now. From the video you can see that the designers were filled on 03-11-2015 which I assume is American date format so 11th march not 3rd of November. Any which way Gillette announced their lawsuit on the 17th December 2015 over the Dorco product, which is why I believe this product had nothing to do with the lawsuit, as it pre dates it. I look forward to your future reviews, especially as a fellow non hair model 😉 th-cam.com/video/hbzRGIgYYrk/w-d-xo.html
@Geek Of Shaves What's even more interesting is that all the razor product photos on the DSC website used to have "dorco" as part of the file name, but all the new design ones have a "PQ" in the file names as the designator. "PQ-4B-CURRENT-01.jpg", for example. I didn't see anything in your video of the drawings that would mean "PQ", so maybe you have more insight and can shed some more light on it. :-) Thank you so much for being willing to connect on LinkedIn! Can you send me a link to your profile, so I can make sure I have the right one? My contact info is in the "About" section of my YT channel. Sorry to make you do the heavy lifting, but I can't seem to find your contact info anywhere. Unless I'm just missing it - which is entirely possible. :-) Thanks again!
@@NotAHairModel messaged you through Twitter to give you the details. Noticing the difference in file names on the pictures is interesting, but I am not sure from first thinking what the PQ stands for, I will have a bit of digging.
Hi True Critic - thanks for the comment! The Dorco website is dorcousa.com/, but has since been shut down. Dorco has stated that they will sell direct to the consumer only on Amazon and they've upgraded everything there to their "Pro" product lines. Their private label site is www.paceshave.com/. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean for your second question. The (Dorco) Pace 6+ = DSC 2012 Executive. DSC seems to still be marketing and selling the 2012 version of the Executive, so you'll need to contact their customer service dept to request the new 2019 version. Logging into my account shows they only have 20 reviews on the 2019 Executive, so it's not in many people's hands yet, which I don't understand at all. Thanks again and let me know if you have any other questions!
So, has anyone found out who is making this new razor for them? I admit I'm quite curious to try it. I've never subscribed to them, but it brings up the old one when I visited the site recently. Anyone got any info?
Hi Dan, thanks for commenting! I haven't heard any new info about who's making them, but I'll definitely post it here when I do. I've communicated with their customer service dept and they'll send you the older Dorco one first and then you'll need to let them know that you're not 100% satisfied and then they'll send you the newer one. It's an odd process, I know, but that's what they said to tell everyone who wants to try it. Let us know what happens, if you decide to give it a shot - Good luck!
Hi Sarah! I had the EXACT same thing happen after a few months and I just reached out to DSC and they sent out a replacement right away. I tried to analyze what was or wasn’t happening to make it do that and compared it to the new one when it arrived and could never see what the problem was. But it’s definitely a thing.
I too am having the same issue. I press down lightly and the blades fall off. Then it takes ages to get the thing to go back on. I emailed them and they said that I need to make sure the blade is on a hard flat surface, and to make sure it clicks. Hard surface, check, go back on ... Well, maybe, sometimes. "Satisfying click"? I don't think I heard one. And the way the bit of the handle that attaches to the blades look, it kinda looks like it's just sitting there on a wing and a prayer, I am always afraid it might fall off ( which it often does)
I've been using it now for three days and that doesn't happen. But when I got the e-mail saying my order is on it's way, it said "what's in the box. It showed a handle with a razor on it and 4 replacement razors. I opened the box and there was the handle with no razor on it and two razors. I e-mailed them but when I went on the website it showed 2 razors. It feels like it's not going to last a week. So far, I'm pretty happy. I agree with Phil that the butter doesn't feel like there's enough. But it's usable. I used the prep scrub today which is very thick and does smell great. I probably won't use the post shave scrub.
I can kind of agree with you, but how much depends what you mean when you say "old". Over the past year or two it feels like the quality of the Dorco Pace 6 and 6+ has gone down. I can't quite figure out what it is, but the handles are breaking easier, cartridges aren't connecting as well and popping off easier, blades seem to get duller faster, etc. Question for you, which Gillette do you recommend I try next? Thanks for commenting!
The Dorco Executive is a lot better for me. I did NOT enjoy how many times I had to stroke with the New Executive. It was annoying and it got clogged up, very easily.
I contacted DSC customer service about this new black executive handle, their reply was this: Hello, I've heard of this rumored handle myself, but have yet to see it. I believe if the rumors are true that we should all be seeing it very shortly though and from the leaks I've seen, it looks awesome! So the TL;DR version is that you can't buy it yet. Stay Smooth, Kevin So it is not for sale? Such an odd response.
WOW, that IS an odd response - I'm sorry that's what happened, but thanks for sharing! Honestly, your comment had me freaked out for a second, so I quickly logged into my DSC account to make sure that they hadn't yanked the new versions away from me, but luckily they haven't - WHEW! I cannot figure out what is going on and why they haven't released these yet - it's been over a year since they were introduced and they only have 20 reviews. WEIRD! I'm going to do some more digging and I'll report back here anything I find out. Stay tuned and thanks again!
@@NotAHairModel thanks. I could not find that awesome looking handle anywhere. Just that old blue and silver Dorco handle they have had forever. This is for the cod blade handle, correct?
@@NotAHairModel sorry for the awful spelling. They sent me the old DSC handle and the old style six blade dorco cartridges. I got them in the mail today. Not the new slimmer cartridges you have in your video.
I’m currently going through the same process with their customer service. I can’t find the handle even if I register a new account. I left DSC years ago. I never cared for the Dorco product. Interest in trying this though. The rep answered my question by not answering my question.
Hi Will’s TH-cam account! I had the same thing happen to me. Something goes bad on the handle, that keeps it from attaching as securely as it used to, but I can’t quite figure out what it is exactly. I just reached out to DSC’s customer support and if it’s within a reasonable amount of time since you purchased it, they should offer to send you a replacement.
Hey Phil! Think this razor would work for women too? I’ve heard ladies ordering this product to shave their legs. Obviously, you can’t attest, but wondered what your thoughts were! :)
Hi there - great question! My wife has been using the Dorco Pace 6+ (2012 DSC Executive) for the past 5 years and has loved it. However, she hasn't tested this new 2019 DSC Executive... yet. Last I read, 20% of DSC's customer base is women. The trial kit is only $5, so you might want to give it a try. Hope that helps!
Hi @Gmar80 - thanks for the comment and kind words! I'm sorry that you didn't get the newer version of the razor. In the past, I've reached out to DSC's customer support about who gets which razors and when, and this was their response, "We're currently offering a few different types of promotions and razors, these both can vary (as you've seen). However, we do have a satisfaction guarantee so if your friends do end up giving us a try and aren't satisfied, we'll help to find something that works or issue a refund." SO, you may want to send them a note letting them know your opinion and see if they make it right by send you the new ones. We have a review of their "4X" coming up soon, too. Good luck and thanks again!
I stopped using dollar shave club razors when all of the sudden i see the cartridges with another generic name at foodlion supermarket. Well upon research they used CHINESE razors called Dorco. No you can buy dorco 6 on ALI express 18 for $22 with shipping
Hi Benjamin! Technically they're from South Korea. :-) Yeah, lots of companies use Dorco's private label option and slap their own logo on it and call it a day. Just for fun I'm thinking about adding a page to the website with a running list of all the companies that use Dorco as their supplier. The one that really blew me away was that Barbasol does it. I expected more from them and thought they would have more innovation than that. Sad. Anyway, thanks for commenting!
Yeah, their shipping times has gotten REALLY bad! I’ve had to just pivot to getting them at Target and WalMart, which defeats the whole purpose of “the club”, but at least they’re the same price and you can get them when you want.
I seem to do better with a good news to bladed razor I know they're disposable however I've had the 456 blades I think it's almost ridiculous why not just start with twenty of them they don't give it any better shave I'm sorry my opinion only I just don't believe the more blades the better the shake
Terrible razor. When I got mine, it took two blades to get only a half way shave. They were cheap and the blades are too close together. One shave and I canceled my subscription. The Executive was my favorite and now they don't have it. I'll try Harry's but I also found refills for the Executive on EBAY.

Thank you so much for being willing to connect on LinkedIn! Can you send me a link to your profile, so I can make sure I have the right one? My contact info is in the "About" section of my YT channel. Sorry to make you do the heavy lifting, but I can't seem to find your contact info anywhere. Unless I'm just missing it - which is entirely possible. :-)
Thanks again!
@@NotAHairModel messaged you through Twitter to give you the details.
Noticing the difference in file names on the pictures is interesting, but I am not sure from first thinking what the PQ stands for, I will have a bit of digging.
@@NotAHairModel Hi I want to order my starter kit but the website says it can't process my order.
Not sure why but maybe it's due to the China Virus.
What’s the website for dorco. and what do I look for if I have the executive blade ?
They were great but unfortunately not so much anymore
@@NotAHairModel I think I'll message them and see if I can get around that whole hassle. Although I'm doubtful, much appreciate the info good sir!
I'm having an issue with the blade coming off constantly just pressing down lightly to shave anyone else have that issue???
Hi Sarah! I had the EXACT same thing happen after a few months and I just reached out to DSC and they sent out a replacement right away. I tried to analyze what was or wasn’t happening to make it do that and compared it to the new one when it arrived and could never see what the problem was. But it’s definitely a thing.
I can't even get my blades to go on it won't click on a d the video SUCKS it needs to be closer up so people can see what they are doing
The old Dorco Pace 6 blades gave me a smoother shave than these new DSC razors do. Will stick with Gillette.
Same
Love it will give it a try
What is dollar shaved club??
DSC is the best!
I contacted DSC customer service about this new black executive handle, their reply was this:
Hello, I've heard of this rumored handle myself, but have yet to see it. I believe if the rumors are true that we should all be seeing it very shortly though and from the leaks I've seen, it looks awesome! So the TL;DR version is that you can't buy it yet.
Stay Smooth,
Kevin
So it is not for sale?
@kmelkian Sorry, I'll need some clarification on your last comment. I'm not sure what you meant by "cod blade handle"? Thanks!
Best razor
You should give us handles for free. All us DSC customers already have perfectly good handles that now are useless.
Why does mine keep falling off
Hi Will’s TH-cam account!
And now you can buy the Dollar Shave Club products at Walmart
Hi John! SERIOUSLY??!! I had no idea! Wow, I’m going to have to check that out. GREAT tip - thank you, sir!
More than 2 weeks on an order of razors. No explanation from DSC.
Yeah, their shipping times has gotten REALLY bad! I’ve had to just pivot to getting them at Target and WalMart, which defeats the whole purpose of “the club”, but at least they’re the same price and you can get them when you want.
The thickness is gone also
I seem to do better with a good news to bladed razor I know they're disposable however I've had the 456 blades I think it's almost ridiculous why not just start with twenty of them they don't give it any better shave I'm sorry my opinion only I just don't believe the more blades the better the shake
Hold up replace it once a week? That’s 120 dollars a year. Gillette is only 80 dollars a year for me 😂
Terrible razor. When I got mine, it took two blades to get only a half way shave. They were cheap and the blades are too close together. One shave and I canceled my subscription. The Executive was my favorite and now they don't have it. I'll try Harry's but I also found refills for the Executive on EBAY.
DSC discovered Dorco in 2012. Seriously? What a stupid comment than ruined an informative video
Hi JamesBond007! Sorry, sometimes I say stupid things. I know the reference point I was actually trying to make, but obviously fell short of conveying it correctly. I appreciate you hanging in there and watching as much as you did, though - nicely done!
The new razors suck.
The new blade is garbage
The new handle is garbage
