I'm so glad I switched over to a safety razor...Too many gimmicks with cartridge razors... I can get 100 blades for $10. plus, no irritation... Dig your channel!
Big thanks for checking out the video and for your comment! I like a good safety razor too especially when I can take my time and enjoy the shave. But sometimes I find myself preferring a cartridge.
RK! Happy Holiday season sir! Hope you and your family are doing well! Sorry I missed this comment, thanks so much for checking out the video and taking a moment to comment! Any holiday plans?

Nice, informative video, Larry. Hope you and yours had a nice Thanksgiving. DSC is not one of my favorites: blades dull too quickly for my aged, easily irritated skin. I don't stray north of 3-bladed razors, and for my purposes, the Gillette Skinguard is the best and most economical razor for me. Just took advantage of their Black Friday sale, and bought 8 blades for $21. I get nine comfortable shaves from each blade. All the best!
Hey Karl! Thanks for checking out the video and taking time to comment. Yes, even though I had a good experience with DSC I recognize that everyone is different. I think the Skinguard is definitely a good option for any type of sensitive skin. And 8 for $21 is an excellent deal on the Skinguard cartridges.
Hey Larry! I still subscribe to Dollar Shave Club even though they changed their razors. Luckily, they still sell their Humble Twin blades from their website! I like those the best. The new version four and six blade cartridges are actually good, but i do agree with you and some of the commentators, Gillette is better but overpriced. You just have to look out for deals and sales on the blades. For economy, DSC is a better value. I'll have to do a side by side with the new version vs. the old Dorco version to see what seems better! Thanks for the video review! JimG
Jim! How are you sir? I hope you and your family had a great TG holiday! I knew someone had to be. DSC subscriber!🤣. How often do you use your DSC razors? I remember you’ve suggested razors to try, so I’m curious where DSC ranks for you? I didn’t know that they changed the blades but I definitely found the current blades serviceable. I would even say that I’d recommend DSC to someone looking to save $$$. As alway, big thanks for checking out the video and taking time to comment, much appreciated!!
@@fitnessnbeer9835 Hey Larry! The old handles and blades were made by Dorco for DSC. They came in a 6, 4, and 2 blade variety. They still sell the Humble Twin blades. Those I like for my face every so often. They had more heft than the current version. The handles on the new type are more knurled and the blades are quite thinner significantly. I primarily use them for the back of my neck and shoulders. Once in awhile I'll use them for my face if I need a quick shave. I actually used the 4 blade the other day. I keep my subscription going due to the twin blade cartridges and deodorant that I like. They do have a nice face scrub too! As for the new razors, I do like them and the blade cost is comparable to Harry's in which both are far less cost than Gillette. As you are aware, I am primarily a DE shaver especially the vintage ones! I am glad that you like DSC!
I use DSC, mostly because it's the first one I used, and it never cuts me. I tried harrys, and it cut me every time. But maybe ill try different ones eventually, im just a teen.
Big thanks for checking out the video and sharing your experience. I had a mostly good experience with DSC although I felt my blades wore down quickly. Fortunately I had decent success with Harry’s too. Either way I feel that both are fairly priced options. Glad you found one that works well for you.
Yo big thanks for the checking out the video, the comment, and the sub!👍🏾. Much appreciated. I’ve never tried the Omni shave but now I’m curious 🧐. I definitely might need to check that out.
Awesome video as usual Larry. Ya know for a bearded man you review a lot of razors 😂 But I hear ya I’m bald as well. Been shaving the dome for 16 years & my face for over 30. DSC is very comparable to Harry’s. I don’t like it because I shave against the grain & it’s not the greatest for that. You should try their 4 blade. It’s a tad cheaper & to me it’s more comfortable. I like Mach 3 & skinguard I find gillettes razors are the most comfortable because of the coating they use on their blades. However fusion & labs are overpriced
🤣 Hey, thank you for this comment and for checking out the video! I agree that Gillette razors are most comfortable and that the Fusion and Labs are overpriced! The Gillette Labs gives me a great shave but I feel it’s waaay too expensive! I’ve also had good experiences with the Skinguard and Mach 3. I think us head and face shavers can really benefit from a smooth shaving razor. We cover lots of ground when shaving!
My dad champions DSC cuz he’s cheap 🤣 I feel like his face is less sensitive and he doesn’t care. I feel like it’s the same razor as the Amazon essentials 6 blade razor. I hated shaving with that thing for about a year. However the DSC I tried was 2015…the Amazon one was 2022, maybe they got better? I really hope so anyways.
I definitely had low expectations for DSC and for me I at first thought the 6 blade razor exceeded expectations. It was efficient but the longevity was bad. I get 3-4 shaves max and when a DSC razor goes bad, it really goes bad leaving lots of hair and poorly shaved areas behind. But it’s also $2 per cartridge so still cheaper than most🤷🏾♂️. Huge thanks for checking in and sharing your insights!!
@@fitnessnbeer9835 yeah DSC was my first razor other than BIC and that’s before I knew razors could be comfortable at all. I just thought “I guess this is what shaving is” boy was I wrong. I never even thought about how many shaves a good razor should be able to get back then. I would just keep using it until it wasn’t working at all but now that you mention it I do remember the razor not always getting all the hairs on my neck and getting frustrated thinking I was just not doing it wrong or something! Good information 🤘🏻👽
I can understand that. I thought DSC performed okay for the cost but that could also be because I didn’t have big expectations. Huge thanks for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts.
Thanks for checking g out the video and sharing your thoughts! I didn’t think the 6-blades were garbage but I did notice longevity wasn’t a strong suit. I got a pretty good shave initially but after 3-4 shaves it was done.
agreed. the Club ones or whatever they switched me over to? absolute RUBBISH! I spend more time slicing my fingers up attempting to put the razor cartridge back on the handle, because it just falls off the handle whenever you breath on it too heavily. Cancelled my DSC subscription, wrote them some feedback, and am about to try the Gillette Labs razor blade.
Big thanks for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts! I didn’t think they were bad but I did notice the DSC 6 blade razors weren’t the best for longevity. I felt they wore out quickly and gave the worst ‘used blade’ shave. Otherwise I thought not bad for the price.

No worries Larry, you are a busy man! Probably going to see the tree in Rockefeller center when the crowds die down a bit. Have a great holiday:)
